The dark-furred lioness padded slowly along the edge of the tiny stream, icy blue gaze followed the water as it flowed slowly next to her paws. Long tail flicked from side to side lazily as she went, ears lain back, at her relaxed pace.
Distraction was written all over the lioness' face as she ambled slowly, then stopped suddenly, and flopped down beside the thin trail of water, laying one front paw over the other, and then resting her chin upon the both of them.
Vurumai caught herself, before she got much further. She had been thinking about her sister again. It wasn't often that she did think about her, but on the rare occasion, it always threw the sleek, dark-furred huntress into a rotten mood. "Oh well..." She mumbled to herself, "At least Kigao isn't around to see me like this." The female added as she wiped a tear from her cheek on her foreleg.
She hated it when anyone caught her in a weak moment, or a bad mood.

"Stop running into that, stupid beetle," Aeglaeca laughed at his game, putting his paw in front of a beetle every time the poor thing tried a new direction to walk in. "Stop running into that!" It was a mean little game; not particularly destructive but not nice, either. His spotted tail lashed back and forth behind him, echoing the mean sort of smile upon his face--he was definitely enjoying this. It was growing dull, however, for he'd been at it for more than a few hours. With a sigh, the hybrid "freak" raised his head and let the beetle go about its way. Where had his siblings gotten off to, anyway?
Aeglaeca hadn't seen any of them about all day, a fact that was beginning to be rather bothersome. It wasn't that he feared his mother would just leave him out in the jungle, it was that he knew she would. Indeed, if he disappeared too long it was just better to run away than to submit to the beating he was liable to recieve.
Not that Aeglaeca truly wished to run away. It was the opposite, rather; he loved his mother and wanted only to please her as best he can. With that in mind the cub figured the best way to get out of trouble was to bring her something worthy of having stayed out so long in the first place. He looked about the area he was in, but nothing seemed too ideal for this.
So the cub began to make his way through the jungle, sneaking as best he could with hopes of finding something good to eat, maybe, or a colourful flower or stone to gift Mleli with. His colouring had always been a large help to this for black and dark purple were the colours of shadows; so long as he stayed down beneath the bushes the Freak was hardly noticeable at all. That was until he came to a thin stream where he found a large, spotted cat crying.
At first glace he thought this was the most widely spotted leopardess he'd ever seen. In fact, his second and third glances didn't shake him of the thought as he'd never seen a lioness before, though he'd heard horrible things about them. "Aw, what's the matter?" He asked her, slipping out from the shadows fearlessly. Though his words were kind his tone was not; despite their size difference Aeglaeca had no reservations about mocking the adult, "Did someone lose their way home?"

Vurumai gave one last, muted sniffle and then pushed herself to her feet, standing much taller than the cub that approached her, and then whipped around and bared her teeth, nose curling into a snarl. "No, I didn't lose my way home, you snotty little brat." The lioness growled, taking a step towards him, and then reclining to her haunches and glaring down at him.
The dark-furred lioness snorted unhappily and lashed her tail, annoyed. "Are you sure YOU didn't lose your way home, little one?" She retorted, lifting a brow at him and giving a snide little smirk. She flicked her ears back again and growled at him.
Icy blue eyes cast upon the cub, Vurumai set her jaw firmly, expecting some sort of sarcastic or rude remark out of the cub, judging by what she'd already seen. "I'm sure your mother miss you by now." She added just for good measure, lifting her brow even higher as her smirk curled into a smile.
