-Life was... difficult. Not that he had to strive to survive. Here in the pridelands life was a piece of cake. Food was always at call, they didn't have to worry about dangerous rift raft wandering in. Despite every bad thing he'd heard about Muffy and Kami, life in the pridelands was actually easy. Simple. But that didn't make life that way.

How he juggled things.. trying to be brave and strong to get the acceptence of his siblings.. while trying to be something completely different to get the acceptance of others. Did he want anything to do with the 'traitor' members of the pride? His mind told him no. But at the same time.. his heart ached to be appreciated and accepted by them. He was a cub of confusion.. not knowing exactly what he was or what he wanted. All he knew was that he wanted to be loved and accepted. He just hadn't decided yet who by.

Having left his family behind for the day, the golden pelted youth was doing one of his favorite things. Running through the grasses, loudly swaying the stems as they tickled at his sides.-

Noyana had taken the day off today. All her siblings were bugging her about her new necklace, they all wanted to know how she got it, and no matter how many times she told them, they never listened! Someone must have crafted it... She'd just found the nice wooden beads on the ground! All she had done was personalize it by rolling the center beads in crushed leaf juice, dying them green, and lightening the rolling as she left the center. She was rather fond of her new necklace, proud that she had it.

It was hard to escape from them this morning. Everyone was bugging her at home and she just wanted out today! Luckily, she had managed. She'd leave her lion (truly a jackal, but she believed Chaka was a lion) at her own den today, for Noyana didn't feel like going all the way out of the way... she was already headed the opposite direction.

She hadn't expected to run into anyone out here, but sure enough, someone was running through the grasses ahead of her. Whoever it was bore the royal family's colors... She couldn't wait until her word had some influence about how things were run around here. Not that she would change anything, nothing but the ruler. She shook the thoughts out of her head as she approached the noisy individual, maybe he'd have something fun to do.

-Oh what he'd have given to not be the freak born in the family. To have a red pelt like the rest instead of being mistaken constantly for Mufasa's. At the very least he had Taka's black mane beginning to sprout bits of hair about his head, but it was never that that they noticed.

He ran about oblivious, happy enough to be alone playing his little game. But as the scent and sounds of another approached, he slowed as he tried to search out the culprit, but he didn't quite stop, black tail tip flicking outward to shake up another tall blade of grass.-

She picked up speed, and decided to call from her current location, which wasn't too far away. "Hey!" She kept observing as she approached, trying to figure out who he was. She hadn't ever seen the male before... It wasn't until she got close enough to him that she realized his line. It wasn't the base color of his pelt that she identified him by, but rather those markings on his back legs. They looked so much like Tufah's, only hers were a different color. He had the same colored eyes, though. Plus, if he was from Taka's line, the chance was there that he could come out like he did, with Mufasa's pelt.

"You're a decendant of Taka, aren't you?" Yes, Noyana was getting good at figuring out other's lineage. She introduced herself before he had the chance to say anything. "My name's Noyana," Perhaps, she thought, Tufah had talked about her. She kinda doubted it, but there was still a chance.

-He was every bit of awestruck as the question sounded. Not like it always did, but actually correctly this time. And his heart skipped a beat as he paused in his steps, calling out excitedly.- "I am!"

-A grin laced his features, and he took in the brightly hued female with soft curiousity, etching her apperence in his mind. What a clever wonderful girl! His tail even twitched with contentment.- "I'm Haiba, and Taka is my grandfather."

-Curiousity perking he slipped nearer still. Unfortunately Tufah didn't talk much about things other then the present when he was around, so the stranger was simply that, a stranger.- "How did you know Noyana?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 16, 2007 8:22 am

"Nice to meet you, Haiba," She said with a dip of the head, as if she was addressing a prince. "I know your sister, Tufah, and she has the same markings as your back legs," she said simply, pointing a claw at his sock-like markings. "I've never seen anyone else with those markings. Besides," she said, just having taken notice of the start of his mane, "Your mane's black, like his was." Of course, Noyana hadn't ever met the notoriously-clever Taka, but she'd heard what he looked like. She smiled at his pride of his lineage- he should be proud. Taka should've been ruler, and his family should be lining up as heirs. The workings of the Pride were all wrong- what an injustice that had been done!

-He rippled with pride, letting his eyes fall to the socks. He knew of his mane, but the socks too? He suddenly felt blessed to have those small bits of himself echo that lineage. And the ego stroking of the female only helped that.

Grinning widely, he mummered a greeting.- "Nice to meet you too. Tufah's friends are always my friends as well!"

-But to linger too long on the respect would be uncalled for he knew. So his words quickly drifted elsewhere, matching his now wonderful mood.- "What were you out doing today?"

Noyana smiled. Making someone's day always was nice. "I was just planning on getting away. Family, you know. I've got 6 other siblings in my litter alone, and four older," She paused. Even she thought ten siblings was a ton. "I just wanted some time away from them, to meet new people," she said honestly.

"Other than that, though, I'm not quite sure what I was going to do..." This was the case for Noyana more often than not. She left the den wanting to do something, but with the mindset that fun would always find her. Usually, it did.

-He couldn't sympathize exactly. Unlike many of his siblings, he adored clinging to his family, being a part of everything. On occassion he felt the urge to be alone yes.. but this girl had a quite different outlook. He could however understand the hugeness of 10 siblings.- "That's a ton! It must be really hard to get your parents attention. I thought 5 was alot!"

"I didn't come out with any idea of what I was going to do today either." -He confided, but now that the thought was in his head, his eyes scanned the area looking for something to offer up as entertainment for his companion. Hmmm.. let's see... Spotting a soft mounding of dirt, and idea hit him.- "You ever been Merkat hunting?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 16, 2007 1:38 pm

Haiba had said the magic word and Noyana perked up immediately. "Hunting? I've never hunted Meerkats... I don't even know what a meerkat is!" She tried to remember if anyone had ever said anything about meerkats... Nope! "Sounds fun, though. What are they?" She asked. If there was something to be hunted, Noyana would gladly do it. Preybeasts existed to keep lions like her alive, that was her way of thinking.

Noyana felt no guilt in hunting, either. She knew that what she was doing was killing another living thing, but... They knew that the possibility existed that they would be killed. She always was merciful with her hunting. Once she caught something, she made its end quick. And with that, she loved hunting. The chase, particularly, was her favorite part. And with meerkats, she thought, it would be no different.

-Haiba, gentlest and most uncertain of his brood wasn't the champion hunter of the family. Not to say he was enept in anyway, he simply was cautious. And the furry little meerkats were perfect prey for one such as him.

Nothing the females delight a smile curled on his maw.- "Merkats are these weird little things that live under the ground. They're bigger then rats, but smaller then cubs too."

-Motioning towards the mound of dirt he'd noticed before, he illustrated with a playful forward prowl.- "You've gotta sneak up on their holes and wait for their heads to peek up, and then...." -He swiped his paw for dramatic effect.-

No, Noyana was certain she'd never hunted such game. "They sound relatively easy to catch," Noyana said. Having brought down a klipspringer before (albeit, an old decrepit one, but still a klip,) Noyana was sure that this would be relatively easy game. "Nothing ever escapes from me!" Noyana said, puffing out her chest proudly, once again exaggerating.

"Where do we find their nests, then?" She asked. In the back of her mind, a small doubt crept up. What if she couldn't sneak up on these ones like she could others? She pushed the thought out of her mind with the slightest shake of her head and awaited directions from Taka's grandson.

((I'm so amused by the fact that she's going to end up with Mat. XD I wonder if it might not cause Haiba a bit o' mini drama))

-For a moment after her inital statement he worried that she was going to reject the idea as too easy. Laugh at him and head off to find a better game. But he grinned quite visably when she did agree, tail swaying happily.- "I can't wait to see! I bet you're awesome!"

-Glancing outward he tried to remember the last set he'd come across, replying thoughtfully.- "They tend to be in shorter grasses. And you can't miss them, you'll see little mounds and holes everywhere."

"Come on, I remember some being this way!" -He thought he remembered, but that would have to be good enough. Motioning he bounded forward a few steps, waiting for the yellow cub to join him.-

((XD This will be an interesting plot. <3 I'm good with Haiba throwing in any drama at Noyana.))

His compliment only boosted the yellow lioness' ego. "I'm the best there's ever been!" She said cheerily as she followed. Her mood shifted entirely, however, as she saw the grass shorten. Her entire mindset changed. The lioness crouched as low to the ground as she could, tail flicking lightly behind her. She was a killer now. Not a murderer, a killer; a hunter.

Sure enough, as Haiba had said, a small head popped out of a hole right in front of her face, but spotted her too fast and ducked back away. "No you don't!" She said through gritted teeth as she reached her paw into the whole, slashing it wildly under the earth. "These little guys are fast!" she said as she pulled her paw out, empty.

"I get the hang of it now, though," she said quietly to the male as she snuck over to the next hole and waited for one of their heads to pop up. She was ready for them this time.

-He stayed back and watched with contentment as she attempted the first catch, and a soft laugh escaped him a the miss. Not one of taunt, but more one of youthful excitement as they geared up for the game.

Creeping around to another hole he hunkered down, flashing the femme cub a happy grin before he watched carefully for a little head.

For someone more skilled they could probably watch two, maybe three close holes at once, but for little Haiba watching one was more then enough to make him feel like a 'big strong hunter'.-
