Have any of you hear of the West Memphis Three??
I thought it might be a topic of intrest.
I wont tell you all of the story but here is the background:
In 1993 in West Memphis 3 boys were found dead in the woods.
Three teenage boys named Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, and Jason Baldwin, they were convicted of the crime.
There was no evidence to link these three teenagers to the crime. Damien was Wiccan and liked to dress differently (When I say that he was goth) as this was a God loving, Christian Town. And as Damien was seen to be different the town blamed him for the murder.
The police offered a reward to informaiton on the crime, most of the people in the town made up stories about the boys, saying that they used to hold mass orgys and killed animals for their "Gods" and spilt blood. They were called Satanic.
Jessie Misskelly had a learning disorder, ADD and an IQ of 70.
he was coned into police by giving a false confession. Which meant the three teenage boys were found guilty and to the death penatly.
These three boys did not get a fair trial. There really was no evidence to tie them to the crime.
This is still going on at the moment. They have spent over 5000 days in prision, by not getting a fair trial.
Just becuase he was Wiccan, and they liked to dress differently.

That is so sad. My heart goes out to those poor kids.
I live in a small new england town. Can I just say that my town is VERY small and there are 6 christian churches in it? There is so much racism and predjudism (sp?) here. its rediculous. Actually thats just the town I go to school in, the town I live in is even smaller, and is where all the "minorities" live. The people here are so understanding, its amazing.
