User Image William Willows - Hogwart's Express Pass Conjurer & Director

It is autumn in London, and children everywhere are returning to school after a summer of fun and relaxation. On this particular morning, frost is covering the brick platforms where passengers are loading the trains to take them to various destinations. Fog and clouds cover the sky, making the world seem very gray. All around, people are rushing to various platforms - King's Cross is very hectic today, even for the time, 11:00AM. This is not usually a busy travel time.

To the muggle eye, a group of children are standing in a circle having a very loud conversation. However, for those born into the world of magic, they know that this is where they must to be to get their tickets to board the train to school.

Welcome to King's Cross - where you will catch The Hogwart's Express at Platform 9 3/4, either returning to school for a new year of adventure and education, or beginning an era of your life you will never forget.

The old wizard is so obviously dressed like a wizard, begins waving his wand frantically, conjuring passes to board the Hogwart's Express. Finding it difficult to keep up with demand, he bellows:

One at a time now, one at a time! Single file, or the lot of ya will go be having a year off now!

The students, all anxious to begin the journey to Hogwarts, line up along side their parents and loved ones. The old man starts passing out the tickets made of parchment and embossed with the symbol which represents the greatest wizarding school in history. After receiving their tickets, they line up one by one, saying good bye to their loved ones, and begin the trot into the pillar. As the students line up, the director warns:

The train leaves at Noon sharp, so no dawdling, now! Have a nice trip!

As each student passes through the pillar, a witch wearing a sparkling purple cloak checks their boarding passes, and directs the students to the train. Once through the pillar, it was very obvious that this was a wizarding world. Witches and Wizards all over working for the Hogwart's Express were so obviously dressed as so. It's not cloudy and gray once the students enter Platform 9 3/4....the sky is blue, the sun is shining and it's oddly warm. A beautiful day to be a wizard.

Come, darlings, not much time before the train leaves. Let's get you on board!

As each student is permitted to pass, the colorful witch wishes them the best with a warm grin.

Off you go now! Have a grand year, we'll see you in twelve months time!

User ImageAeryn Bristow, 5th year

The first student to pass through the pillar and board the train is Aeryn Bristow. Aeryn is 15 years old and comes from a very wealthy pureblood Irish family, and she is not happy that her parents have forced her to attend Hogwart's - she had attended Carrickfergus School of Magic for her first four years, but her mother had said:

"No, they focus on learning the Dark Arts, not defending against them. You'll go to Hogwart's, Aeryn, and I don't want to hear about it again!"

Thankful to be freed from her Mother's death grip of goodbye hugs and kisses, she takes the baby falcon her father gave her as a gift out of his cage and rests him atop her head, as this had come to be his favorite spot to be.

Aeryn boards the train, and makes herself comfortable inside the first compartment on the first train. Not sure yet if she would rather travel alone or with company, she leaves the door open just a bit.

Patiently, Aeryn waits for the train to leave and take her to school, although she is still rather sour due to her mother's insistence she attend Hogwart's.

User ImageXairi Equinox, 1st year

Xairi stared out of the backseat window of her adopted parents car. She watched as the clouds past by outside, seeing if she could spot one that was a shape of an animal. She had already spotted a bunny, a turtle, and an owl. She finally looked away, and sighed, slumping down in her seat. She was getting restless, anxious, and excited all at the same time. She decided to focus on something else. She put her thoughts to the past week. It was the most bizarre week of her life. First a letter appeared in the mail addressed to her from a place called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Curious, she opened the letter, revealing an invite to join their school. Xairi wanted to go at once, since it would take her away from all the fighting her adopted parents had. What she found hard to wrap her head around was the part about the witchcraft and wizardry. Was it a joke? Was there really any such thing as magic? Xairi had never witnessed it in her lifetime, at least....she didnt think so. The only thing she new of magic was the card magic tricks she saw in some shops and the toy magic wand she had ever since she was a kid.

Included with the letter was a list of things to get for the school. Xairi hard never even heard of the place where you get them from. Some of the supplies sounded funny too. Puzzled, Xairi showed the letter to her adopted parents. They thought it was a load of rubbish and threw it away. The next day the letter came again, but Xairi didnt tell her adopted parents that. Secretly, she wrote a reply saying she'd go, but she had no idea where to go to get the supplies. SHe held the reply in her hand, thinking it was quite silly to write a reply since she had no address to send it to. As she was thinking this, a owl flew in from the near open window, snatched the letter from her hands, and flew back out again. Xairi screamed , startled. Her adopted dad ran up to check on her, seeing if she was alright. Xairi caught her breath and nodded telling him a bird flew into the window.

A few days later a giant package landed at her door with a letter included. The letter said that they were sso glad she accepted and that they would be happy to see her at school, next to the letter was a ticket for next week from the kings cross station, saying to go to platform 9 3/4 for the train that would take her to school. Xairi chuckled at this. There was no platform 9 3/4, that was crazy. SHe looked at the package. It contained a huge chest that said hogwarts and had the crest of the school, inside was a robe, books, quills, ink, etc. Xairi was shocked and amazed and excited. She adopted parents didnt know what to think, but after some very serious convincing on Xairi's part they allowed her to go.

Xairi was shaken out of her recollection of last week as the car stopped, and her door opened. They had arrived!! She leaped out and got her stuff. She hugged her adopted parents and left in a run. She wasnt necessary close with them, but they got along ok. Her rolling hogwarts chest clanging behind her, she set out for the train.

This was the problem: 9 3/4. There was no 9 and 3/4. She found platform 9 and walked to 10. there was nothing but a wall between the 2 platforms. She look away frustrated and then gasped, looking back quickly. She just though she saw someone run through the wall! That was crazy. SHe walked closer, until she was infront. She slowly put her hand on the wall and screamed. She suddenly felt as if she was falling threw nothingness. Finally it felt as if she landed perfectly on the ground, she slowly opened her eyes, afraid at what she might see. Her eyes widened in shock. Opposed to the mist, cloudy day, it was bright and sunny, the birds were chirping, and everyone was laughing merrily. Everyone, to her suprise was wearing robes of different colors of the rainbow. It was an amazing scene. The platform also read 9 3/4! Xairi was so bewildered excited, and scared at all these new events that were unfolding. Looking at the clock, she hurried to the train, a lady in purple robes took her ticket and instructed her to go inside.

Inside the train, Xairi looked nervously around. Everywhere around her were kid her age and older laughing and talking. Xairi suddenly felt sad. She suddenly felt alone and foreign. She knew no one wherever she was going. AT least at home she had her adopted parents, but here she had no one. She hurried to find and empty compartment and sat down, forgetting to close the door. She laid her head against the window and stared out at the scenery. She was confused at everything she had seen and experienced that week. It was hard to process it all. She was afraid of what the future would hold in this weird, exciting, foreign realm.

Seeing all of the students boarding the train to go to Hogwart's, Aeryn was starting to become annoyed. It felt as though she had been sitting in this empty compartment, alone for quite some time now, and no one had bothered her. Still feeling contempt for her mother at making her switch schools, Aeryn thought to herself:

If I were still at Carrickfergus, my compartment would be full with my friends!

Aeryn decides it's time for her to make the first move...Brit's are notoriously unfriendly! She takes her baby falcon and stows him in his cage, gathers her things and walks down the corridor of the train. She notices a young girl, looking rather frightened and alone, and decides to keep her company...after all, they are kindred spirits! Aeryn says to the girl, her Irish accent indisguisable:

Hello! My name is Aeryn. Mind if I join you?

Aeryn doesn't wait for a response. She stows her belongings in the compartment opposite the young girl, and takes a seat. With the warmest smile she could muster, she says:

Let me guess...must be your first year?

Perenelle Greene, 5th year.

Humming too herself, Perenelle ran down the aisle of the train, bag over shoulder. She hadn't found any of her friends yet, but Perenelle wasn't worried. If she didn't find any of her friends, she would just have to make some new ones. Pushing her curly black hair out of her eyes, Perenelle began to hum a new tune to herself. Another year at Hogwarts, another year away from home. It pained Perenelle to see her father crying as she went through the wall between Platforms nine and ten, but part of her wished he was used too it by now. This was her 5th year, after all.

Sighing, Perenelle pushed back a door to a compartment that was slightly open. Looking around, she saw a girl she had never seen before with red hair sitting there. Deciding to forget her friends for now and join the girl, who looked a bit lonely she exclaimed,
'Hi! I'm Perenelle! Can I come in?"

But just then she saw a girl the looked rather like a 1st year. Laughing she said, "First year? Well, welcome to Hogwarts!"

Aeryn looks up at this bold girl, and decides she may as well make the best of this whole fiasco. She replies:

Hello, Perenelle. I'm Aeryn. Just transferred in from Carrickfergus in Ireland. Please, join us, if that's ok with you?

Looking at the young girl across the compartment with a grin, Aeryn was slightly astonished at how friendly Perenelle was. She looked to be about the same age as Aeryn, and Aeryn desperately hoped that Perenelle would be more accepting of an Irish student infiltrating Hogwarts than she expected most others to be. Maybe she had made a friend?

Carrickfurgus...it sounded mighty familiar to Perenelle. Considering the name for a moment, she grinned broadly and then said, "Oh! That's a school in Ireland right? So you're a transfer? Ooooh, cool! Do you know about the houses at Hogwarts? There's four. Ravenclaw's the best, of course, that's the house you want to get into. Hufflepuff's not bad either, I have some friends in Hufflepuff..." she shrugged and then grinned again. "Sorry. Blabbeled. I tend to do that."

She turned towards the 1st year, "You seem pretty quiet, aren'tcha?"

Xairi was staring gloomly out the train window when a voice interrupted her thoughts. She jumped a little as she came back to reality. She looked around to see were the voice was coming from and stopped a older girl, with long wavy orange, and glasses was asking if she could join her. Before she could answer, the girl sat down and asked if she was a first year.

h-hi, y-yesXairi said still bewildered at her sudden apearance and intimidated because she was never good at talking with people.

Someone want to sit with me? Well thats a good sign right?

before another thought entered her head another girl, older as well came in and asked if she could join them

yesXairi said with slightly more courage this time. SHe gave a weak smile I'm Xai-xairi

Aeryn was amazed that Perenelle was so talkative! Her friends in Ireland had not been this friendly, until they became comfortable with one another. Aeryn smiles at Perenelle again, starting to feel better about her transfer, and she says:

Why, Yes, it is in Ireland! You've heard of it? I don't know much about the houses, but I know when we get off the train and get to the castle, I'm supposed to look for Professor Longbottom, he's going to bring me to be sorted privately...I suppose they thought it would be embarassing for a fifth year to be sorted with a first year. We didn't have houses at Carrickfergus...everyone just kind of melded together according to year.

Aeryn turned to the younger girl, she didn't want to be rude, after all

Hello, Xairi. Excited to be starting school?

Aeryn decides she'll show off a little bit, taking a tadpole out a container she kept in her trunk. this tadpole had been meant for Bailey, her baby falcon, but transfigurating it seemed like a fun idea at the moment. She points her wand at the tadpole and gives it a small wave. Aeryn had become proficient in performing silent spells, as a boy at her last school was consistently tormenting her, she could now cast spells on him without any warning. As she waves her wand, the tadpole transformed into a toad. She asks Perenelle:

Do you have transfiguartion at Hogwarts?

" I-im kind of.....scared" she admited to Aeryn, blushing furiously."

Xairi smiled politely at the 2 girls. They seemed nice enough. This eased her troubled mind a little bit. She listed silently while they talked to each other, although she didnt understand everything. This indeed seemed like a different realm from the other she was used to. It was all so much for her to take

However am i going to get along here in this place?she though, exhaling slowly. She felt so exhausted already, and it wasnt even noon! She gasped in wonder as Aeryn turned the tadpool into a toad, but She felt hot all off a sudden , she felt as if she was cramped and everthing was pressure on her, verything was so confusing to her. Quickly sensing a panic attack coming on, Xairi opened the window and stuck her head out, breathing the fresh air slowly in and out. After a minute, she felt more calmed down, and put her head back in and continued listening to the 2 chatter.

Noticing Xairi looking slightly faint, Aeryn drops the toad and moves over, next to the frightened first year.

Ohmigosh, Xairi, I'm sorry I didn't mean to frighten you! Are you ok?

Aeryn feels very bad for scaring the young girl, and gives her a pat on the back.

Poor thing...must be muggle born. No exposure to magic at all...If Hogwarts is at all like Carrickfergus, she'll be in for quite a few of these attacks

Aeryn sits down next to Xairi and turns her back. She looks like she needs a glass of water, and Aeryn can easily conjure one, but won't do so in front of her. Taking her wand, giving another quick wave, she conjures a goblet, and mumbles:

Aguamenti

Aeryn turns back to Xairi, handing her the conjured goblet of water.

Here, have some water. Don't worry, it's perfectly fine, better than what you'd get from a tap.

Aeryn gives Xairi a warm smile, and another pat on the back. She's beginning to feel a little more comfortable, now.

"N-no, n-no its ok. No n-need to worry about m-me" Xairi smiled meekly, trying to digest what she just saw.

What have I gotten myself into coming here? OH no. They probably think I'm pathetic she tought sadly as she turned to look out the window, trying to hide her motifyed face from them. She felt a pat on her back. She slowly turn and saw one of them was offering her water. She took it with shaky hands and drank it. The water feeling nice and cool and refreshing going down her throat. She felt even a little better now. Not just because of the water, but because the girl was being so nice to her.

"T-thank you, I feel a little better now" she said truthfully. She mustered her courage and genuinely smiles.

Maybe it wont be so bad after all. Im just probably panicking and worrying to much she thought as she took more sips of her water.

Aeryn, still curious about this girl who seemed to have no knowledge or understanding of magic whatsoever, smiled at Xairi again. Although Aeryn is fifth year, she and Xairi do have something in common - they're both new to this place and have no idea what to expect.

Xairi, are you by any chance, muggle born?

Aeryn was having trouble politely satiating her curiosity, Carrickfergus did not accept students who were not exposed to magic before starting school, mainly for the reason poor Xairi had just shown.

Maybe I should try to prepare her a little bit for what she's about to encounter...Wouldn't want her to have a stroke in the midst of class or anything!

Rena looked aroudn the Platform. Her parents had sent her to Kings Cross alone this year. They could barley stand to look at her anymore. She had been sorted into Slytherin last year and they now barely recognized her has family.

She walked towards the scarlet steam engien and thought of the year ahead.
"I hope it's better then last year" was all she could say. She hopped onto the train and searched for an empty compartment.
