 Ok this has stirred up alot of debate that has leaked its way into other topics steering them off topic so I thought I would make a nice little home for this topic so it can be put to rest. What to talk about here: Is Tobi of the Akatsuki really Kakashi's old best friend Uchiha Obito? what we know so far: Obito is dead~1. Obito "died" in a rock slide Obito is alive/Tobi~1. Tobi and Obito are very similar names 2. Tobi is an Uchiha and was not killed by Itachi 3. Tobi has only been shown with 1 sharingan
What has happened to Rin?none eek

Haha, I've seen arguments saying Rin was actually the unnamed member of Akatsuki. xp Which I highly doubt.
But has anyone seen the resemblance Rin has to Kiba's sister, Hana? I mean change the hairstyle, add full breasts, and make her taller and you could have spitting image of Hana.

Maybe there related? cuz if she was still alive then Kakashi couldn't say that all of his team mates are dead.

Rin probably is still alive...but i bet she is at stone which hasnt been a big topic in naruto at all. So she probably is still there and just hasnt been talked about.
Tobi/obito on the other hand is weird.....half his body was crushed....meaning one sharingan...Kakashi has the other one....itachi said only 3 can activate the kaleidescope(dont want to spell mangblahblahblah lol) sharingan, so tobi cant be obito because that would mean that 4 have it.....so that doesnt make sense....

i also think rin is still alive somewhere because well.....it's naruto and they like to surprise us.
but when it comes to the sharingan theory. I don't believe at that point itachi knew that kakashi could use that and also at that time he didn't know how to use it because in the shippuden series kakashi says that he learned a new technique which was that. so yeah.
and to the very top post saying obito died in the rock slide. Well it never actually SHOWED him die. They just suspected it. Never got his body. At least I don't remembering them getting it.

well he was caught in a rock slide and half his body was crushed and i do belive they said it was falling down...or not...but from that trama think....one lung, liver, intestines, kidney, all of that was accentually crushed from the boulder theoretically he should be dead.

i mean they say tobi is Madara. which that would mean he found a form of immortality. and that guy from the akatsuki. head cut off and still alive. yeah. thinking theoretically isn't possible in this world; sweatdrop

well Madara could just have been away and itachi forgot about him and is to late to kill him or the leader doesnt want him to. and that guy whos headless is just something for everyone to laugh at lol..i mean he wasnt that strong and he had some lame points to him with his god beliefs lol

You have to remember. Madara was one of the founders of Konoha. He was their with the 1st hokage.
and even though I agree with you about Hidan I believe, (and yes i know a specific person who will hate me for how we're talking about him) He was still unbeatable really. I bet he's still alive. and he was pretty strong. anyone whose able to beat asuma is given strong status. R.I.P Asuma.

Oh my god...you people are still going on about the Tobi/Obito/Madara thing? Oi....
Madara was the first ever Uchiha, as he was the founder of the clan. He was roughly the same age as Shodaime Hokage as they were seen battling at the Valley of the End.
If somehow Madara found a way to keep himself alive, I really doubt he would revert to a child's age, I.E. Obito. And if he did not, then logically speaking (assuming Obito is Tobi) Madara could not be Tobi because he was never Obito to begin with.
It has been stated by Tobi himself that he has MADARA's POWER, not that he is Madara himself. This could mean a multitude of things like he has the same Mengekyou as Madara or Tobi somehow received it like how Kakashi received Obito's. (Not in the same way, mind you) Hell, for all we know, Tobi could be some descendant of Madara. Like a grandchild or something.
As per the thing about Itachi and Madara not being present during the slaughter of the clan, plain and simple logic being that Madara was dead long before Itachi was ever born. It would also be logic that since Obito was born before Itachi and 'died' before that as well, that he would not be present in the slaughter or the count of whom could do the Mangekyou.
Currently we know that Itachi, Sasuke, and Tobi are capable of the Mangekyou (naturally) so the three people that are able still holds true. Itachi most likely left out Kakashi because he is not a born Uchiha and as stated by Itachi (more or less) when they were stalling team 7, that he did not know Kakashi was capable of a Mangekyou.

well yea that makes sense but in three days i read all the manga up to 374 ish... and it does say some things about tobi not being obito....and yea i understand the itachi not knowing kakahi's abilities b/c it was obito's eye therefore itachi assumed that it was impossible for those reasons and the eye being foreign
