Rown [ HURRAYS RP. ANYONE CAN JOINS? ]
She stared up at the massive building that loomed before her, a silent 'o' of amazement forming on two black-painted lips. She'd only heard of this place before through the grapevine and from several websurfer friends so it had taken a massive amount of curiosity and a large dose of sleeping pills given to her mother in tea to get her out here alone and energized.
"This must be it, there's nothing else like it around."
She took a step towards the door and gently touched the handle with a gloved hand, a momentary smile flickering across her features before it faded into an expression of a calm and normal young child.
"Pardon me...."
She opened the door quietly and shut it behind herself, taking care to let her eyes adjust to the light change before moving inward anymore. Loki Saimar ((Coronaviridae - Sure, since Iinchou did say its public. xP))
Picking his head up from the work he'd been doing at the counter, Fiach saw a young person come in. Raising his voice a bit to be heard across the way, he politedly asked, "May I help you?" before getting to his feet as the person who had entered appeared to be a young girl. "I wonder where her mother is..."
Shrugging a bit, he stepped out from behind the desk so that she wouldn't have to arch her neck too much to see him as both he and the counter were rather high. Coronaviridae ((Sweeet. heart ETA: MY NAME COULD BE LONGER. D: It could be... Antidisestablishmentarijuana!)) A short, slightly overweight zombie huffed up the sidewalk to odd little shop, lugging a laptop bag over one shoulder. It had been a warm day, she was overheated, and it looked--from the scowl on her face--like she'd been involved in something very annoying not too long ago. Her reddened eyes flicked up from the sidewalk directly ahead of her to the sign on the front of the shop, verifying that she'd got the right address, and she let out a gusty sigh of relief.
"All right," puff. "Found it."
With a bit more of a spring in her step, she trudged up the walk, pushing open the door and stepping inside. "Are you--oh. Uh."
There was another person there. Cee was bad with social situations. "Sho--uhm, I can go back outside."Rown [ ..You've been now named COROPO. Deal with it, because Iinchou is a lazy b*****d who won't type any more letters than that to a name. At one time, anyway. ]
"I...my friend told me about this place. I wanted to come and see if it was true, the parts about hackers and adventures."
The little girl scuffed her foot slightly against the floor, her gaze cast down and her posture the picture perfect record of what a small, doll-like child should appear and act like. From the frilly clothes she wore down to the ringlets in her hair, she did look like a walking and talking doll.
"And...please don't leave. I...won't be here long, I just wanted to really see everything." Loki Saimar Blinking a time or two at the shy zombie, Fiach smiled gently and said in his deep voice, "Please feel free to shut the door and stay for a while. My name is Fiach, a pleasure to meet you."
Kneeling down next to the young girl, Fiach gave a small laugh before smiling pleasantly and saying, "Well, the part about hackers is accurate. I wouldn't say we've had any adventures, though..."
Standing back up, Fiach smiled at both ladies before looking for a couple of chairs. Seeing them off in a corner at the shop, he gallantly offered his arm to the zombie and his hand to the young girl, to guide them to the chairs.
Smiling at both, he politely asked, "Would you like to join me in those chairs? It would be a fair sight more comfortable than standing in the doorway talking." Coronaviridae Cee looked at the arm uncertainly before offering its owner a wan smile. Obediently, she stepped away from the door, letting it fall shut behind her.
"You do, uhm. You do deal with--weird computer problems, right?" she asked, hesitantly. After a moment it dawned on her to take his arm, which she did, still somewhat nervous to all appearances. "...It wouldn't be a bad idea. Uhm, sitting down--I walked--it's a long walk." Rown Naomi watched the hand and quickly took it, not wanting to seem impolite or the like. Of course her gaze stayed on the person next to her, and she groaned inwardly at their manner of speech - not that Naomi was any better. She didn't like talking how she did - it wasn't an option though...
"Thank you, Mr. Fiach. And Naomi does think you go on adventures, despite what you say. After all, Naomi thinks any time you can go onto a computer you get to be something else!"
The little girl giggled as she waited to be lead to the chairs, her cheeks pink and her hair pouncing with the childish movements. Inwardly, Naomi was puking at herself.
"Oh, Ms. Zombie, did you get an error on your screen? Naomi knows what that means, tee hee. It means something amazing, right Mr. Fiach?" Loki Saimar Finding it slightly odd that a child who claimed to know nothing concrete about .NET Hackers would know, or assume, that much, Fiach merely gave her a polite smile and a nod.
"Well, I'm glad you find the computer such an adventure, Naomi."
Leading both women over towards the chairs, Fiach gestured at two chairs before standing next to his own, waiting for the ladies to sit first. Snapping his finger, he suddenly recalled that he hadn't offered anyone anything to drink -- and then vaguely wondered if there even were anything to drink in this shop. "I really should investigate the kitchen sometime...who knows how poorly its been taken care of in my absence!"
Scratching at his chin, Fiach struck a pose of pondering, as he decided he might as well offer. At least that way he wouldn't seem a poor host. Though he had a vague feeling he'd not find much but bottled water hidden away in a cupboard somewhere.
"Might I get either of you two something to drink?"
Turning to the zombie he added, "You did say you had a long walk, after all?" Coronaviridae Cee frowned to herself, taking a seat and tucking her computer against her chest as she did so. He hadn't answered her question, and the information Naomi volunteered didn't sound at all like it would help very much. "I don't think it's very wonderful if it eats my hard drive," she mumbled, mostly to herself, before resting her chin against the top of her bag.
Fortunately, Fiach broke in with his offer of a drink, before she could get much further into her somewhat gloomy maunderings. She realized she was slumping, and sat up straighter. "Ah! Th--that would be nice, if you have just water, anyway, Mister--" Pausing, she looked him up and down for a nametag, then let the question trail off.
"...I did. Quite long. It's nice to sit down." Realizing she probably sounded inane, she bit her tongue, smiling that wan smile once more. Rown "Oh, Naomi would like some juice if you have it, please. If you don't Naomi will drink water as well, since Naomi's not picky."
She smiled brightly and plunked herself down in the chair, her skirt flairing up with the motion enough to reveal a lacy panner and even lacier bloomers that hooked into a complete underdress. This poor child was wear lairs upon lairs of black and white clothing, despite how hot it was outside during the later summer days.
Clicking the tips of her shiney shoes together Naomi scanned the area up and down with quick blinks of her eyes, scanning and doing her best to remember where everything was placed. Outlets, moniters, cables, anything and everything was memorized in the blink of an eye. Well actually, six eyes.
When she felt that Fiach might be watching her movements, she stopped and reverted back to childish curiosity, lokoing everything over again this time but with exaggerated expressions and sound effects. After this grew a bit boring she turned to the creature next to her, a wide smile on her face.
"Ms. Zombie, what's your name? Naomi is Naomi Masters, but most people call Naomi 'Naomi' or 'Nao'." Loki Saimar Nodding slightly at the zombie as he watched the child stare at everything with a look that seemed uncannily familiar, Fiach eventually shrugged as the girl began making silly noises. Returning his attention the zombie, he nodded politely again and said, "They don't exactly eat your hard drive..." Clearing his throat he added in a slightly mumbled voice, "Well...not if they have other things to eat first, that is."
With a slightly embarrassed smile, he bowed his head quickly in a simple 'goodbye' gesture, before hurrying off to the kitchen to look for juice and water. Coronaviridae "Oh. Well that's nice to know."
After she'd said that, Cee paused, and blinked. "Wait, did you say 'they'? You mean it's not just--" Aaand Fiach was out of the room, headed to the kitchen to get drinks. The expression on the zombie's face took a turned for the positively worried, and she looked down at the computer in her arms as someone might a sick pet.
Again, though, she was distracted (mercifully!) before she could become too maudlin. "Oh! I'm so--so sorry I didn't introduce myself; I'm Corona; I usually go by Cee. It's nice to meet you, Naomi."
The zombie gave a furtive look around, as if to see if they had any watchers, before asking in an undertone, "Do you know what's going on here? The guys at the shop didn't tell me anything except I could come here and they'd fix what was, uhm, wrong." Rown Naomi smiled at Cee, a thin lipped smile that seemed to make her doll-like face into something slightly frightening.
"What is on your computer is called a hacker, a living piece of data that is to become your partner or your friend. Or...that could become your slave that helps you along any path you desire."
Her voice no longer held the childish innocence from before, now instead it held a deep tone that spoke of untapped wisdom and perhaps a bit of bitterness towards anything in particular.
"This glitch isn't a problem, it's a blessing. There's nothing to be fixed, if only you choose to use it without hestiation in your mind or your regards. Your morals mean nothing to it, nor does you will unless...."
Naomi touched the side of her face with a fingertip, her eyes wide and a derranged smile on her lips.
"Unless you have much larger plans that you can imagine." Coronaviridae Cee may have been one of the walking dead, but her tolerance for creepy things had actually gone markedly down after that night in the basement under the Gambino place. Reasonably, she withdrew from Naomi, shuddering and clutching at her bag as if it were a lifeline. "...a--piece of data," she repeated, numbly.
Having children come of books, leaves, totems, or--even data, she supposed--was nothing new to Cee, but when it was phrased this way, it all seemed so, so--prophetic. Melodramatic. She gave another shudder, squeezing her eyes shut briefly...before laughing quietly, the brief spasm of unease apparently passing.
"So it's a living computer virus that--won't eat my computer? Are they intelligent?" She opened her eyes, giving Naomi a guarded look. This little girl was a lot more than she seemed, it was rapidly becoming apparent. "...and how do you know all of this, anyway? I thought you--is this some kind of set-up?"
Ahh, paranoia. She almost got up, then settled back down, looking off the way Fiach had gone before looking back at Naomi--waiting for an answer.((Unfortunately I'm gonna have to disappear within the next couple of minutes here, 'cuz my internets will go out. D: I can resume tomorrow or we can wrap up Cee's part in the next couple of posts, whichever is more convenient for you guys.)) Rown "A set up? Hardly. Let's just say...the item you have on your computer could become the most powerful thing you've ever had the pleasure of controlling for your own means."
Naomi licked the tip of her finger with her tongue, her expression looking at Cee like one would look at someone inferior. Of course it was all unintended, but there were moments when Naomi couldn't really predict what was going on.
"As for intelligant, yes they are. They grow, thrive, off what you teach them. They won't eat your data unless you let them, they won't grow unless you help them. They depend on you...they're your precious pawns."
With that final bit Naomi leaned back and into her chair, her eyes turning from their ones of sinister knowledge into the pair of childish, curious ones from before. Turning to look back at Cee, she smiled brightly.
"You know, Naomi has only heard about this place from one of Naomi's friends. Naomi can only repeat what Naomi hears, you know." Loki Saimar Returning with a small platter with two glasses of ice water and one of grape juice, Fiach hummed a merry tune. One he'd played often on his penny whistle in the shop before. Bending over so that the platter hovered between the two ladies, he gave a bright smile, "I do apologize for only having grape juice. I couldn't find any snacks while I was in there, I'm afraid my sister may have eaten them..." Coronaviridae Cee opened her mouth as if to say something, then shut it again as Naomi continued speaking. She seemed to be hovering somewhere between creeped out, intrigued, and flat-out confused.
"So they're--can be--weapons?" she stammered. And continued to stare at Naomi, even as Fiach put the tray right at eye-level between them. It took her a moment for her mind to catch up to the present situation, so she could unwrap an arm from around her computer and take one of the glasses of ice water. "--o--oh! Thank you!"
Pause. "W--how do your friends know all of this?" She turned to Fiach then. "...how does she know all this? Is it true?" Rown [ ..Naomi = pwned XD;; ]
"Naomi doesn't know what you're talking about, Ms. Zombie. Naomi onyl knows things that Naomi hears from friends, like Naomi told you."
Naomi blinked a few times, obviously confused at the older woman...or at least pretending to be confused. Inwardly, she was slightly fuming.
"And thank you Mr. Fiach for the juice! Naomi loves grape just as much as any other kind, but sometimes grape gives Naomi a mustache that Naomi can't wipe off without soap."
She giggled and sipped away at the glass, humming idly as she did so. Every now and then her gaze would turn back towards Cee, and her eyes would grow cold, but other than that she did her best to maintain her innocent facade. Loki Saimar Sitting down to drink his own glass of water, Fiach tilted his head in curiosity at Cee. He'd been in the kitchen and hadn't heard what the girls had been talking about, as he took a sip of his water, he looked curiously at Naomi before returning his gaze to the zombie.
"I'm afraid I can't verify anything that was said, as I didn't heard much of it. But if you repeat it, I'm sure I can help you?"
Smiling politely, he looked over at the doll-like young girl, "I wonder just went on while I was in the kitchen...Cee seems even more confused than when I had left!"
Frowning slightly, he added a bit belatedly, "I did hear the last bit, though." Turning slightly to face the zombie woman, he asked as gingerly as he could, "What was that about weapons, you were saying? Coronaviridae Naomi was only adding to Cee's confusion at this point, alternating as she did between the sweet, child-like demeanor and something that bordered on resentful. She wanted to ask if she'd said or done something wrong, but...now it would just seem awkward, with Fiach here. She unfolded herself carefully, juggling the water glass and her laptop as she moved the latter to the floor before taking a sip from the former.
"...uhm." She hadn't been expecting to be called on for her question. "She'd--said that the 'glitch' my computer was having was alive and sentient, and it could be my partner or a tool or something, and more powerful than anything else I had at my--anything else I could imagine... I guess it just sounded like the--whatever-they-are could be used as weapons, to me."
She couldn't blush, being dead, but she did look abashed. "I'm s-sorry, it seems silly now that I put it that way."
