Draped from one of the many tree branches that lay within the jungle was a snake. Her green color helped her blend in with her surroundings rather nicely. Her eyes were open just ever so slightly, barely revealing the yellow eyes.
She hung down like a vine, and was playing the part rather nicely. Her tail was wrapped around the tree branch rather tightly to prevent herself from falling. She flicked her tongue out once before falling still, only swaying every now and then with the push of the soft breeze that was rolling by.
Whoever happened to pass below her were going to be in for a surprise, especially if they didn't like snakes.

Raylan was fairly oblivious to the type of creatures that inhabited the jungle she was currently residing in, and she had probably never even heard of a snake except in passing mentions from her father. How was she supposed to know that they could possibly be here, hiding out of view, some of them up to who knows what kind of mischief? Nitesh had certainly never talked about the kinds of creatures that made their home in the 'King of Ivy', and she really hadn't thought to ask. Why would she?
Humming silently to herself, it was with an innocent heart that she slipped along, slightly familiar with the land but not able to tell anything apart for the most part. As she brushed against low-hanging vines, she payed them little mind, inching closer and closer to the unseen reptile until she was right under her - and she still had no clue.
((Ah, she wouldn't see her, she's blind to things like that, so I just set her up for Janja to do whatever))

When the soft fur of the lion rubbed against her scales she let out a giggle, unable to help it. It was just tickling her so much. Her laughter caused her to loosen her grip on the branch she hung from, which when resulted on her falling onto the dark colored lion.
Blink the moment she hit Raylan she felt herself slipping. Janja did not want to fall any farther down than she already had. In an attempt to keep herself off the ground and on the others back she sunk her teeth, lightly and without poison, into the other's flesh. She then tried to use that momentary stop in her fall to hoist herself back up.

The giggle confused Raylan for a moment. It was too soft for a large creature, and it came from above her - which she found even more confusing. She glanced around, shifting her pale paws on the thick foliage beneath her, then narrowed her eyes in an attempt to see through the emerald vines dangling around her head. However, she only had a matter of seconds to be really confused about it, because what happened next was even more confusing than before, and slightly terrifying.
Raylan immediately jumped as something fell on her, her great black body lurching. Then she felt that little bite, like two mosquitos burying into her fur and then pricking her flesh. She gave a little yelp as she peered down at the - vine? Her eyes narrowed as she shifted again, then she realized that it was one of the slithering things that her mother had talked about.
Being a generally smart lioness, she saw the little thing trying to writhe her way back up onto her body. Gingerly, she leaned her nose towards the tumbled reptile and nudged her back up onto her back.
"You scared me," she said quietly, tangerine eyes staring at her miniature attacker.

The green snake was rather thankful for the help the lioness provided her. In truth she had been expecting the other to yell at her or fling her off her back. Now safely and securely on Raylan's back she looked over into the tangerine eyes. She blinked for a moment before shaking her head.
"That wasssss the point, however I did not mean to fall on you, your fur wasssss tickling me and I losssssst my grip on the branch." Janja hissed rather politely. Her red tongue flicker out after she finished speaking before nodding her head at the other. "I do thank you though, for the help, I did not exsssspect it.

She simply shook her head at the other's words, tail flickering behind her as she stood still; she really didn't want the little snake to fall off after she had just tried particularly hard to keep her from doing so. She looked above her, at the mass of vines, tangerine eyes examining. Well, she supposed it was a good place to play tricks if you were a long skinny green snake.
"You're lucky I'm not as excitable as I was a few days ago, or I really might have thrown you off, and you could get trampled doing that," she said as she turned those bright eyes back onto this new little creature. "I don't mind, though, my sister used to like to scare me a lot like that - she is a bit bigger than you though, so I usually saw it coming." She smiled, tilting her head. Having never heard that snakes were scary and icky, as was common belief, she couldn't really be afraid of them. The little thing on her back didn't bother her a bit.
"My name is Raylan," she said happily, tail flickering in imitation of a snake itself, and shifting her paws beneath her idly.

If Janja could've she would've shrugged at the lioness's statement. "I never planned on falling from the branch. I merely wished to sssssspook a few." The snake stated simply. "Thanks, I ssssssuposssse for not letting me fall." She then nodded. That was all she really had to say for now, at least of what she found important enough.
She wasn't particularly fond of felines, especially since the last one she had met had nearly stepped on her for no reason! This one seemed decent enough though.
"The namesssss Janja'Nyoka." She replied when told of the other's name. "I sssupossse that it'sss a pleassssure of ssssorts."

She nodded idly at the words of the snake. Of course she wouldn't fall on purpose, she supposed that would be a really easy way to get one's self hurt. Still, Raylan wasn't used to the jungle and any snakes in general, so she didn't expect something quite like this to happen to her while she was strolling along. Regardless, she wasn't going to be mean over the whole thing - she knew some liked to play tricks from time to time, and Janja's seemed to be generally harmless.
"Not a problem, I'd feel really bad if I stepped on you," she said with a bit of a frown on her mug, though she didn't let it remain for very long. She was generally a happy lioness these days, and there was no reason to ruin that because she could have almost crushed someone.
"Yes, I think it is a pleasure of sorts, Janja," she said with a little purr lingering in her words, though she shifted from paw to paw idly. Glancing around her at the thick foliage of the jungle, she tilted her head. "I don't suppose there's anywhere you might want to go? As long as I'm here, I might as well offer."

Janja fell silent, really unsure of what to say next, she was used to dealing with males of her own species as well as females but when faced with a much larger creature, such as the lion who's back she rode upon. She really wasn't sure what to do. Her devilish charm wouldn't work on the other....
She flicked her tongue out absentmindedly. "Yesss...a pleassssure..." Janja repeated focusing her thoughts back onto the one speaking to her. "Could you take me to water....pleasssse?" She requested as politely as she knew how. "Thanksssss for the offer."

At the other's request, Raylan furrowed her brows. She hadn't been in the jungle very long, and she knew very little of it. In fact, she had only just become accustomed to walking around in a small area and not getting herself entirely lost. However, she was aware of one water source that she had stumbled upon when lost one day. She supposed it would have to do, as small as it was.
"Alright, but I'm not very good at getting through this jungle, so bear with me - I'm really new to the area." Then, with a little nod, she started to trot off in the general direction that she had been in when she first stumbled upon it. "It's really no trouble at all," she said at the thanks, carefully picking her way through the vines and underbrush and trying to keep her balance so the little thing didn't slip off of her back.
After a few minutes of wandering (and a bit of stumbling on Raylan's part) the pair finally emerged into a vaguely small clearing. In the center was a small pool, not too large, but deeper than it looked at first. "This is.. the only water I know of." She frowned slightly, glancing to the little lime serpent riding on her back, unsure if this would be good enough.

Janja nodded her head, not thinking of the fact that the other had to turn her head to look at her to see it, so it went unnoticed.
As they began to move the snake was rather thankful for the silence that had settled between them, it made things easier for one who was finding it hard to come up with something to talk about. Janja said nothing the entire time her dark yellow eyes flickering back and forth around her surroundings.
Then they reached the water and she nodded, it wasn't the largest source but it would do. She wasn't going to be picky, that would be rude and she had -some- manners. "It'sssss perfect." Janja hissed, her tongue flickering out. "Sssset me by the watersss edge pleasssse."

Raylan smiled softly as she heard the snake's words. It was always important for her to perform to the best of her ability, and she severely disliked disappointing people, or failing at what she tried. Thus, knowing that this was adequate enough for the little creature, she felt that new sensation of accomplishment that she sought so often. She had had little of it in her father's home.
"Oh, alright," she said with a nod, slowly walking over to the edge of the little pool of water. Slowly, she folded her legs beneath her, careful not to tip too far one way or the other, until she was comfortably on the ground. "There you go," she said with a small purr lingering in her voice. She was close enough to the ground that Janja could slide right off and onto the bank.

The green snake slid from the lion's back with ease. Raylan had made it easy for her to do so, which Janja was again thankful for. She slithered closer to the water's edge before lowering her head and drinking a little bit of it before sliding into it to wet her skin. The water felt nice as it washed over her like a blanket.
Janja didn't stay in the water long however, only for a few minutes. When she came out she shook her head to prevent water from getting in her eyes. Her skin would be shedding soon, she could feel it, plus her skin was growing dryer with each passing day, another sign.
"Thankssss again." She told the other with a nod. "What bringsssss you to the jungle?" She inquired since this was the first time she had seen this particular female and she had slithered passed the pride of lions once or twice and never say Raylan until now.

Raylan watched her silently as she took her drink, her eyes studying the way the little creature moved. Honestly, Raylan hadn’t seen many snakes before in her life, and certainly not one so close. Many lions thought they were a little scary, or creepy, but they seemed to be majestic in her own eyes. They were graceful, and this one was certainly nicer than a lot of the stories made them out to be. She simply smiled, laying there beside the small pool calmly and waiting until Janja was ready to speak again.
“Nothing really brought me here,” she said calmly, a gentle sort of purr lingering in the tones of her voice. When she got into such a contented mood, she felt calm, and when she was calm she simply felt all the stress that had been piled up leak away. “I was staying here one night to get out of the open, just inside the trees, and a nice lion from the pride found me and told me I could stay here until I was ready to leave again,” came the words, simple and to the point. There really was no need to tell Janja the whole truth – she really didn’t like to share her father’s identity with others.
“Have you lived here your whole life?” she asked wonderingly, tilting her head at the little creature. They really must look like quite the odd pair – a full grown lioness talking to a little snake. Amusing, but odd none the less.

Janja listened to the words of the lioness carefully before nodding her head. "Mosssst of the lionssss that live here, in the pride nearby, are pretty niccce." She stated straining the s's without trying. It was, after all, the nature of the snake to do so. Then the feline asked her a question.
The snake had to think about it a bit. She had spent most of her life in the jungle, especially after she met that white lioness with the green eye markings. Before that she had lived somewhere else...at least she believed so. That's right, she was found in the desert and brought to the jungle by those two cubs, the white one and the green one with...wings...Shaking her head she looked up from the ground she suddenly found herself staring at to Raylan. "No....I have not. Mossst of my life hassss however been ssssspent in the jungle." Janja told the other flicking her tongue out once.
Tilting her head backwards her yellow eyes traveled across the darkening sky. It made her wonder just how long she had been out in those trees before the lioness passed beneath her and then how long had she spent talking with the other? If the snake could have shrugged or tapped her chin she would have, instead she tilted her head sideways and looked at Raylan. "It'ssss time for this ssssnake to be off, that doesssssss not bother you doessss it?"
