Ladden with books, the Academic walked down the hall, the slight frown of concentration betraying the effort it was taking to haul his heavy load back to his room. He wasn't as muscular as some of the others and truly fit the idea of Academic - slim and wiry. Shifting the satchel once more, he lifted his head and shouldered the burden, determined to get to his dorm without stopping or faltering.

Of course, that plan was probably made with the thought that nobody would be hurrying down the hallway in the opposite direction so lost in her thoughts that she accidentally bumped into the boy. She was tiny, so her impact wasn't great, but she immediately squeaked, brought her hands up to her mouth, and backed away a few steps.
"So sorry!" she whispered, voice soft and sweet.

To add to the fray was another willowy and lithe Academic to witness the spectacle, left in the awkward position of continuing on her way or stopping to help.
While Arwen would have rather melted into a wall to get away, she couldn't very well walk by one who obviously had such a passion for books...or studying, but either was good to the Melancholy girl. Nervously tucking a lock of dark garnet hair behind her pale ear, she carefully brushed her dress around her knees, kneeling to help retrieve the books. "Are...are you both okay?" she inquired politely.

Astaroth's mild expression turned into a frown as the nudge sent his books spilling. It wasn't so much the throb in his shoulder as it was seeing the tomes splayed carelessly across the floor that annoyed him. Pain he could ignore, damaged books he could not. Casting a sharp gaze at Biwa, he knelt to pick them up only to find another stranger already picking his beloved books up.
Pausing, he nodded and answered her question and gathered up the remaining titles, "I'm fine." With a brief look, he appraised Biwa once more, noting her difference in appearance. Dainty, light... Phlegm. At least she wasn't a bouncy Sanguine like Cyphr - that boy could drive him mad sometimes. "You?" The question reflected Arwen's. He didn't want to see another hurt despite this rather sudden and rude encounter.

"I-I'm fine... but your books..." She bit her lip, holding her hands up to cover the lower portion of her face. The boy's harsh gaze made her feel uneasy, and she was visibly tense, eyes widening slightly. Was he mad at her? Was he?
She glanced at the other girl as if for support. But no, this was nobody's fault but her own and if he was mad...

Arwen had seemed to have momentarily forgotten the two, brushing off one of the books in an adoring and reverent fashion. "That's good," she replied automatically; there was a good chance that even if they had said a bone was broken, her answer would have been the same, for her attention was all for the scattered tomes. She collected a few more books, deft fingers brushing each one off in turn before she stood to look at the one who had dropped them.
Really. She would have fallen on her butt before she dropped books! Not everyone could have such a love as she, and while it was disappointing, she didn't let it stop the small smile on her lips from forming. "Here you are," she murmured musically as she offered the books to the boy. Her arms were curled around the pile as though they were far more than mere paper; to her, they were far more than that, and she'd treat them thusly no matter who was around.
Eyes the shade of delicate red shifted briefly to the apologetic girl. "At least there was no mud in the vicinty," she said, helping in her own bizarre way.

Astaroth's gaze shifted from one girl to the next and he shook his head, "Thank-you." Retrieving the books, he gingerly put them back in his bag and started forward once more. Arwen's comment gave him pause, however, and the smallest hint of a smile played across his features as he turned back.
"That is true." His attention returned to the pale one. "Where are you going in such a rush? Is there an emergency somewhere?" The last thing he wanted was for another episode like that which had harmed Bellona. He'd been studying to prepare himself for another occurrence - you could never be too prepared, after all.

The girl's words only made Biwa cringe more. Oh god, if there had been mud- She held back an undignified whimper.
She'd thought she was safe when the boy began to leave, but at his pause and question, she turned to look at him, eyes carefully not quite meeting his. "Um. N-no, there's no emergency... I just..." She squirmed a little where she stood. "It's nothing, I just wasn't being careful," she finished, voice somehow managing to drop in volume even more.

The pale girl was hardly interested in emergencies. Then again, the only real emergency she could think of was if the library was burning down. Oh dear, but that...that would be a travesty, a true horror, the epitome of disaster and chaos! Arwen wouldn't know what to do; she would be beside herself with grief and panic if such a horrible fate were to befall her beloved books.
She gave a start as the other girl's voice seemed to dim, snapping her out of her own contorted thoughts and bringing her back to the awkward situation of having to talk to not just one student, but two. Delicate hands laced together in front of her darkly colored skirt, her bright red eyes shifting between the students. While she wouldn't exactly expect a Phlegm to be the slow and studious type that she and this young man did, she was pleasantly mollified that she showed such remorse at her actions.
"The books are unharmed," she reassured the girl, certain that it was the only real problem being offered at the time. The tomes were in one piece, unscathed, what else was there to linger over?

The silvery boy pursed his lips, unimpressed by this show of meekness and, even though he loved books, Arwen's seeming obssession with them. "Good. I suppose no harm's been done then." Obligatory manners dictated he bid them farewell. "A pleasure meeting you...." he trailed off realizing he had not, indeed, seen either of these Empyreans before.
"Are you new?" He asked suddenly, wondering if more Husks had been brought in during his short stay in the city.

Biwa smiled gently at Arwen. It wasn't really just the books - it was the fact that she'd run directly into another student - but the words calmed her a little, and her hands lowered to clasp before her.
Biwa had been about to offer a small farewell to the imposing Melancholy, but his unexpected question made her pause, blink a few times. "Yes, I am," she said after a moment, nodding. She'd only awoken a few days prior, and was still very much confused by things. She'd been trying to find her way back to a passage she knew, hence her earlier hurrying.
"My name is Biwa," she offered, helpfully, if a bit shyly.

Arwen's delicate features showed bemusement at the situation, with the boy's obvious desire not to be here and the girl's desire for the same, although certainly for different reasons. He was nothing like the sweet and interesting Grave, but she doubted that many could hold a candle to their shared interests. She - Biwa, so she introduced herself - was cute enough, but the Melancholy girl was not one to be swayed by mere appearances. Usually.
"New, but not brand new," the girl smiled knowingly. "I've been here for a short while." Ah, formalities...this is where it got awkward for her. "My name is Arwen." She dipped into a friendly curtsey, more out of an attempt to be cordial than anything else. While the girl was not very good at interacting, she knew that each of the students were here for the same reason she was, more or less; she was making an effort, albeit limited, to mingle. She hoped she wouldn't regret it later.

At the curtsy, he dipped into a bow that echoed Arwen's formality, "I am Astaroth." He shifted the bags on his shoulder and then gently set them down on the floor, glad that they were protected by the thick fabric of the satchel. "I have been here a short while as well, have you attended any classes as of yet?" Ah, an easy subject for him to discuss and perhaps a way to learn of the other classes if they'd taken one he hadn't.

At the other two's formal greetings, she quickly added a bow (straight, at the waist - she had to concentrate to keep herself from kneeling and touching her forehead to the floor).
"I haven't been to any classes yet... and I understand I missed art..." She nibbled on her lower lip, then put a hand before her mouth to hide the action as she forced herself to stop the nervous habit. She really looked forward to art and music - she felt the draw of the brush and the string. She felt also, though, that those desires... well, these two students, at least, were more book-oriented. The Phlegmatic girl felt a little out of place.
