It was a lovely day, and would have been good for a sail, but Valefor had wanted some time alone with Aear today and so Seer decided rather than waste the beautiful weather, she'd go flying. She still hadn't really seen a lot of the Realm, so she was winging her way around lazily checking out some of the meadows and the flowers therein from above. Maybe she'd land... eventually... but she didn't want to bruise her feet just yet. She had such a hard time landing on solid ground... she could drop on a dime on Aear's ship but landing on dirt gave her loads of trouble she really didn't understand. Though... it might be an issue of practice. Hum.

Akil shuffled his wings. He was currently relaxing on a tree limb, being that he was getting annoyed with himself. He was told he would get better with practice in the landing situation. Well, he hadn't. And he was starting to really be annoyed that he constantly got scrapes and bruises. He didn't mind that he bled in places all the time as is, that didn't hurt. Morgana, his mother, said it was natural as sweating for their family. But the bruises did!
He looked up and blinked, seeing another flying. Well, maybe she would have a clue on the best way to land! He sat up and spread his wings. Readying himself, he pushed off from the tree branch and steadily began to raise in height to where the other was flying.

Seer glided in a lazy circle, turning around just in time to spot Akil taking off from the tree. Ooh... another angelic! Maybe today was going to go better than she thought. She flapped her way closer, tilting her head curiously when she noticed the bleeding. But he didn't look hurt. Curious. "Hello! Nice day, isn't it?" He didn't seem concerned about the bleeding... and she didn't get the feeling it was a big deal. Living with such an odd assortment as she had at home, she decided she'd refrain from asking unless it came up. She was used to kitsu having rather startling peculiarities.

"Very nice, perfect for flying in fact." Akil replied, grinning. "I've never seen you before. What's your name? Mine's Akil, it's Egyptian." he stated proudly, for even though his mother and father hadn't explained it's meaning clearly, he liked the tone of it.

Seer had to grin. "Great day for flying! Especially if you can't go sailing." She drifted closer as he introduced himself. "Egyptian? Really? That's neat!" She smiled more broadly. "I'm Seer! It's... uh... mystical?"

Akil chuckled. "I think it's a nice name, whatever it means. Sailing? What's that? I know we're flying or gliding up here... but what's Sailing?" it wasn't something he had ever heard of, being that most of his family stayed on the ground or air, not the water.

Seer almost forgot to keep flapping her wings, his question startled her so much. She'd practically grown up on Aear's ship so someone not knowing what sailing was a rather bizarre concept for her. "It's when you go out on a ship on the water and you put the sail up and use the wind to move the ship around... sort of like the ship has a big wing that helps it move on the water?" Sweatdrop. "You've never seen a sailing ship then?" Foreign concept. Blink.

Akil shook his head. "No, is that bad? I've lived on land or in the air with my family mostly.... So I haven't really seen the ocean or a lake. Though I know that they exist, I just haven't visited either."

Seer had a brilliant idea! At least, she thought it was brilliant. "Hey, do you wanna go to the beach? You can see the ocean then! My adopted parents are out on the boat today so I can't take you there, but I could show you the beach." And it would be lots of fun!

Akil thought that making a visit to the beach sounded pretty exciting. He had yet to see it, and from the way Seer made it sound, it was a lot of fun. He nodded with a grin. "Sure, lead the way!"
He hoped that his worry didn't show too much. He had yet to master the whole idea or even the concept of landing. But he figured taking a dive into some water might be a nice change.

Not only that but sand was a lot softer than the earth generally found inland, so if she was going to take a tumble trying to land on the ground she'd prefer to do it there.
"Follow me!" She was more than happy to lead him to the beach for other reasons, as well. She always just felt more comfortable when she was near the ocean. She couldn't have explained it if she had to. Fortunately, it hadn't come up.
After quite some bit of flying they reached their destination, a few miles down the shore from where the harbor was. It was one of her favorite spots to go play in the sand and swim in the shallows. There was one thing to warm him about, though, as they coasted along, neither seeming to want to be the first to land. "If you go out in the water don't go too far. The undertow could drag you out to sea. The shallows go out for a while, so there's plenty of room, but don't go past where the water starts getting dark over there." She pointed out a ways from shore so he could see what she was talking about.

Akil nodded and grinned. "I'll keep that in mind, good tip!" he said, watching the shore.
Taking a breath he started to descend toward the ground. He used his wings to lift him a little up when he got to the ground and was amazed to find that he landed with a very soft thump. The sand was no where near as rough as the ground! And he thought he may have finally gotten the idea of landing, it wasn't as hard as he had always thought.

Seer descended after him, and after seeing his success (even if she could tell it wasn't anything resembling an expert landing) proceeded to imitate it. She was going a bit too fast though and while her feet stayed put the rest of her body continued forward, causing her to fall on her face. At that point, she just sort of stayed there, blushing furiously. Ahh... should have tried the water landing...

Akil was so happy over his own landing, that when he turned back he practically deflated in alarm.
"Are you okay???" he called, slipping over the sand toward her. The texture was unlike anything he had come across before, so it was to be expected that he slipped on a stone and fell on his way over to Seer.

Seer looked up when she heard Akil tumble. "Ah!... I'm fine, just a little sandy... are you all right?" She padded over, trying to shake the sand out of her fur on the way and spied the rock hidden in the sand. "Ah... gotta watch out for those... I used to trip on rocks in the sand all the time..." She grinned slightly. "It's a lot larger surface area to have shift under you all at once. Especially when you're a kit, like I was."
She glanced back over to the furrow she'd made in the sand on landing. "Ah... I can land on Aear's ship in the harbor, or in the water, or even on the pier next to the Hiril... but when I try to land on the ground... Well, you saw what happens." She frowned. "And I can't figure out why, that's the worst thing about it..."
