I set off for the land of the rising sun next Tuesday. After saving up enough money and anticipating the trip for the last couple years, I've finally booked the tickets and hotel accomodations. I'm going to Japan!
With that, I'd just like to alert everyone to my absence. My first trip out of the country begins August 9th. I'll be back in the States by the 17th. When I return, I'll have to go to a family reunion, and so I probably won't be back on the boards until the 22nd or so.
I hope everyone misses me as much as I'm going to miss you all. exclaim

Abbi Normal Cool! Have fun!(and yes, bring back lots of pictutes!) Where in Japan are you going, exactly? Staying in Tokyo, but chances are (since you can take the train) that I'll be going all over.

Go to Kinkakuji in Kyoto. It's breath-taking, and you have to say that you saw the Golden Pavillion if you've gone to Japan.
Also, do yourself a favor and go to one of the smaller bath houses. They are extremely relaxing and a great cultural experience.
Have fun, and make sure you bring cash, the older stores don't accept credit! 3nodding
