Are you now or have you ever been confused about your sexuality?

Yes, I have been.

If so, describe the experience as honestly as you can.

First, I was confused because I have never heard about homosexuality, and I was taught, implicitly, that it was not possible. For years I had been turned on by men, but I always assumed that I simply "appreciated" their good looks and wanted to imitate them. I was brainwashed into believing that men were such by virtue of their attraction to women; such is the Latino way.

Once I discovered that my "manliness" is more determined by higher qualities than by how many women I manage to cajole into my bed, and once I learned that men who love men do exist, I began to deal with the confusion offered by gays and lesbians. I became confused because of the amount of people who believed, and liked to emphasize, that bisexuality is a phase and that, eventually, I'd grow out of it and accept my gay "calling."

So, I did. And I realized that I liked women just as much as men by doing so. Then I had to come out again, which was weird: "Hey, guys, I think I like girls."

And that's my story.

Basically, for as long as I can remember, I've only been sexually attracted to men. However, when I was in middle school and most of high school, I felt like I couldn't be with a man... I felt like I was sexually attracted to men, but I was romantically attracted to women. I toyed with the idea of being bi and I told myself "I'll go through life acting straight and even get a wife--I'll keep my biness a secret." And that comforted me for a little while, but teenage sexuality is insatiable, and by the end of my junior year I told myself, "******** it. I'm gay. Nothing I can do about it. I hate p***y." I'm not "out" exactly. I have a very different policy on it than most people do.
I feel that if you don't need to tell someone you're straight, you shouldn't need to tell anyone your gay. I stick by that stricktly. I'm never telling my parents especially because they have no right to know. I don't need to know what they do underneath the sheets and likewise, they need not know what I'm doing. If people ask, I usually just make a big fuss about how trivial it is and how they shouldn't let their prejudice drag them around on a leashe. So yeah... that's me for the most part. lol.

In 8th grade I would have fantasies that confused me. Then in 9th grade I realized that I was bisexual and it made much more sense. And then, as I began to learn more about the variety of gender identities I started to identify as pansexual.

Oi, honestly it's happened a couple of times. In high school everyone thought I was a lesbian. Yes, I'd had a boyfriend, but only one. At one point, one of the more prominent lesbians kissed me in front of my entire drama class. I kissed her back, but it was more out of reaction than an actual want to kiss her (I think). I think I may have even had a crush a girl, but I had a boyfriend at the time. Then, it turned out she was crushing on a friend of mine and wanted me to hook them up. So, I did the good friend thing and got them together.

Recently I've been running into old classmates. They see my wedding ring and get all giggly, then I tell them who I married and the first thing they say is, "Oh, he's not gay?" or "That's a boy's name". I've always been able to appreciate a pretty girl, but I really looooooove boys. Anyway, to cut my rambling short, I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I'm still a little confused on it, but I may have finally pegged it at about 75% straight.

Both questions actually apply here. I wasn't so much confused about my sexuality, so much as I was about what it entailed.

I knew I liked guys from age seven, but I wasn't quite aware about what things were superficially tagged on, until I was enlightened on the school field. "Are you a girl?" Elementary kids are vicious, and we all know that. But as a scrawny, athletically unmotivated kid you respond the same as any kid, develop insecurities. What did they mean? Was I effeminate? Why did guys make fun of people that didn't fit in?

Being gay, which was alright in my book until then, became a liability. It was something uncontrollable that made me a target. So I rejected it, put it away at the back of my mind. Until one day it no longer mattered what people said about my sexuality, who they speculated I was attracted to, or what my gender identity was. Those were my domain. It didn't matter that, as the only son of the family, my traditional duty would be to carry on the family name.

They had no business in twisting who I was into someone else. I called the shots, and I threw all those cluttering distractions out the window.

Well I've always sort of known since I was a lil kid. At school my friends were usually girls because I found it hard to relate to other boys, but I by no way disliked the other boys. I didn't think much of it then.
When I got into junior high we all learned the word "gay." Apparently anything could be gay. Even a chair. That confused me a lot. How a word stating someone's sexual orientation could be used to describe anything in a negative way. Because of this I withdrew from the rest of the crowd with no real close friends.
In high school people seemed to mature and I was able to open up a bit more. But I still didn't admit to being gay. I thought the same thing as JoVo in the sense that I thought I might just be jealous of the guy's bodies and that I wanted to look like them. But this was not true. I wanted them.
Now I am quite open about it and eventually I will tell my parents cause I'm sure now, that they won't care. Concerning Keithing's predicament of being the only son, I am fortunate to have a twin brother. No we are not identical.
So yeah that's my lil story...

If not, please explain why you are or have been so certain about your sexuality.

Since I was a little tyke, I knew that I like boy more than girls. I mean, it started when I wanted to play the Mommy role in Preschool, always sat close to the boys, while I threw paint into the girls' hair. This behavior continued as I would always look at the guys in the rated "R" movies and feel disturbed when watching a naked woman. For me, growing up with the image in my head that I was going to be with a girl didn't make any sense. I once had a girlfriend, but that was in the 3rd grade and she bought me Ice Cream everday afterschool. I actually broke up with her because she didn't have anything to offer... junk foodwise.

The high pitched voice was also a dead give-a-way. I mean, I compared myself to most boys my age and thought that I wanted to be with them. When I kissed my first boy in 6th Grade... It felt right, just not with the guy I kissed.

In High School, I rebelled from my family more and then I really kissed a guy. A magical moment in my life. I always knew I was gay. I never thought otherwise. Just a feeling I had deep inside. I feel like I was born like this and there is no question about it.
