Since when does a number of spellbooks give you a higher standing? Why not just write up some spells yourself and make your own spellbook?
It puts more of you into it, and you might find them easier to use with good results.

And if you're new to the subject you should get a better understanding of all the spells and elements and blah and other blah first. Life may be like ultima online where you need to practice to be able to raise your skill, but it's not like ultima online where the more spells you have in your spellbook, the more powerful you are. I wish it were as easy as ultima online... but then we'd all be addicted to it... I swear with my last breath I will most likely curse ultima online scream

It's an MMORPG, or a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Think of ones like Warcrack and Guild Wars, etc.

LoBo_23 Like hell if I will!! you spend a year and two months getting one million gold and five artifacts and seven 7X GM skills and a master tamer and quit evil plus all the lrc suits I have... iiiNEVER!!! LoBo, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Denial can prevent treatment. You have to admit your are powerless over UO must be done. You have to really mean it. When you do that, we can move on to step two.

Does step two involve being tied to an altar, then scourged to within an inch of your life, after which rabid pirate monkeys are summoned from Seizhurak V to beat you within a quarter inch? 'Cause that sounds a lot like last night.

I'm so glad I went cold turkey on WoW...I see now where it would have led. lol
Addition with edit: Oh, yeah. For the questioner. I'm a firm believer in understanding the theory and then applying it any way you can wrap your head around it, even if it means turning the "rules" and previous expectations on its head (like invoking fictional beings). Practice, actually doing and pushing past your own hangups, is what takes you to the next level. Most of the time if you don't understand the theory (and perhaps a cipher), you won't be able to work out of some grimoire anyway.
