O.K., I just got back from San Diego Comic Con 2007; and I spoke with the editor-in-chief of Tokyopop and the co-founder of ADV Films to get some straight answers regarding Keroro Gunsou/Sgt. Frog in America! And so, here's what I found out:
--ADV Films is not even close to having an official cast list yet. They want to make sure that they do it properly in the U.S. (in terms of characters and dubbing); so NO ONE has been cast yet!
--Kaiyodo no longer has the rights to make new Keroro figures. They had it for one year; and that expired a short time ago. The license now belongs to a new company (I forgot the name, it was something like Toynamation or Toymation or something along those lines... ).
--Keroro (a.k.a. Sgt. Frog officially in America) will be out sometime in 2008 IF ALL GOES ACCORDING TO PLAN!!
--Sgt. Frog will be on MAINSTREAM T.V.! Most likely either Toonami or general Cartoon Network; but the co-founder couldn't confirm exactly which one since it is still in the works!
--Sgt. Frog merchandise will be either done through Diamond Direct or major U.S. toy retailers (a.k.a. Wal-Mart, Target, Toys'R'Us, etc.). If it is done through major toy retailers; it will probably have new packaging (couldn't gaurantee it though). Also; there will be a few new items as well; depending upon who ends up with the U.S. rights to Sgt. Frog, when it comes out, who carries it, etc.
--Sgt. Frog movies (a.k.a. the Keroro movies) will be done by ADV, so long as they are able to keep the license for them and the T.V. series does well enough to prompt DVD releases. Also, they will be done down the road; sometime after the start of the T.V. series broadcast.
--Sgt. Frog Volume 11.5 Guidebook MIGHT be done in the U.S.; it's up in the air. Probably not for the various special color editions (Black, red, etc) due to them being mostly reprints. If anything; the extra material would be added to the 11.5 release; if they choose to do it.
