"Yer late, boy."

A growl answered the chirped words as Ushaufu lifted his head and glared at Varg's familiar red form, perched up high in the trees, "For your information, it's not easy to carry food all the way over here; I'll have you know! It's not my fault I had to go to kingdom come to get it!" grumbles followed the excuses as Deception, whom had hidden his wings out of view upon landing near Mistweaver territory, dragged the corpse of an antelope along. He'd have taken down something bigger, but there was no way he could have carried it over; it was literally, a dead weight. The jungle was no longer as dry as it once had been; it was slowly reviving, however, food was still scarse. Hunting it outside and away was still the better option.

Rolling his eyes, the hawk lowered himself from his perch and flew down to land on the god's back, "Not what I meant, boy; someone was here, you know," a pause as Varg tilted his head in an awkward angle; it still distressed Ushaufu when the bird did that, even after so long, however, the avian's eyes shone with innocence, "Someone uh... red. Had this horn; are you related? Saw 'im with Kizuka, caught just a glimpse 'fore he left. They didn't seem happy to see each other, that's for sure. Practically bristling, they were," during the explanation, Ushaufu had opened his maw, the antelope's leg falling back on the floor as he turned to stare at the hawk, "Don't lookit me that way! There wasn't much I could do; I just saw and zoomed off to find you. Where the hell did you go anyhow? I couldn't find you, so I just decided to wait for your return; yer LATE, boy."

Red male. With a horn. With Kizuka.

Oh god...

Quite literally, at that. Ushaufu had no idea whom someone red, with a horn might be at all; he wasn't all too sure he wanted to know either, at this point either. Tell truth, all what he wanted, was to find Kizuka and check to see if she was alright. Thus so, meal forgotten, hidden partially within the foliage the reviving jungle had to offer, Ushaufu leapt away from it and dashed through the vegetation. Poor Varg barely even had time to beat his wings and get off his back before the green pelted lion vanished into the deepness of the jungle.

"Hey, hey! Watch it!" ruffled up, the hawk perched himself on a branch that hovered over Ushaufu's kill, having decided that it was best for him to stay there and keep an eye on it; there was almost no one still around and about the outskirts of the Mistweaver territory (most the parties that had left had not yet returned), but one could never be sure. Worst case he could keep most of the lesser creatures away from it, and were it to come to it, he could fetch Kizuka and Ushaufu if a larger creature came along. For now, something told him it was best he leave the two mates alone. Eyes narrowed down almost nonchalantly, "Ahhh... must be nice to be young and in love. Kinna miss it, myself. Specially judging by the sounds I heard coming out of that bloody cave, weeks ago..." a pause as the hawk looked up, then whined, "God damn it, I'm so jealous..." trying to keep his mind clear, the hawk ruffled himself up, puffing his feathers up, and lowered his gaze to the kill down below.

Meanwhile, Ushaufu had already reached the cave his family shared, and swiftly, he plunged inside, "Kizuka?" the word was spoken into the darkness as he stepped further in, red eyes gleaming, "Are you there?" there was no answer, and as swiftly as he entered, he jumped back outside, throwing his head back into a roar that rung through the jungle itself; the few birds that had been resting nearby the god lifted up into the air, frightened into flight. The roar had not been a threat, but a desperate call though.

Kizuka had returned to the cave after her encounter with Dath, but found no one there. Either Momo had not been in the cave that entire time or she'd heard and gone to hide. Either way, Kizuka was worried, still and thus went off into the surrounding area to search for her. Today hadn't been a good day at all, Kizuka thought. First Kimaji running off that morning, then that... male showing up. Kizuka really didn't want to think of Dath as a God, for in her mind they had all been good. Surely she knew better than to idolize them all, especially being mated to one--.

The lioness suddenly stopped in her tracks. It really hit her for the first time that she was a God's mate.

For such a religious lioness that truly was something strange to consider, though she'd long since stopped thinking of Ushaufu in such a fashion. To her, he was a lion like any other, if a little more prone to things such as lying. However, that just wasn't the case. In reality, she was a mortal in love with a God who returned that feeling as much as it may have gone against his nature to do so. Kizuka felt grateful and a touch of fear all at once. it was a powerful, scary concept...even worse than the presence of that monster from the early afternoon.

The female stopped at one of the still running streams, taking a sip from it as she continued to watch the surrounding area for the dusty female. Her body was beginning to put itself back together again, thanks to her mate's efforts. It wasn't much, but it was a definite start and she turned again from the water to sigh at the land about her. She'd been gone for awhile; her best bet at this point was to return to the cave and wait... she rather needed a nap at any rate.

Just as she turned a familiar voice roared in the distance sounding distressed. Kizuka knew who it was immediately and her paws took speed back towards the cave. In a moment she'd practically plowed through the bushes surrounding their home and into her mated dark form, expecting danger but just finding.. Ushaufu looking very distressed. "Ushu?" She gasped, panting a little, "Whats wrong?"

As Kizuka's smaller form collided into his, Ushaufu amusingly enough tossed his head back and let out a loud, "Thank the gods!" which given the situation, was rather an ironic saying, to say the least. After such a proclamation, he twisted his body to go around her, sniffing and looking about her form, seeking any type of bleeding, broken bones, or anything that would reveal any form of injury upon her person. It wasn't till he was satisfied, a moment later, still panting, that the god turned to face his mate, his nose pressing against hers, his eyes wide, "I got here, and Varg was waiting for me, and he said he'd seen a HORNED red male, and asked if he was related to me, and oh god, I was so scared, I thought he'd done something to you, and are you alright? Did he touch you? I SWEAR I'll eat him, whomever he was, if he's touched you! He might as well be a bloody rhinoceros god, for all I care, I'll eat him!"

His words came in a rapid succession, question after question, words and sentences clearly running one into the other as he spoke; it was clear that he'd been scared to the point of panic, and the relief that brought seeing her alive and well, as he'd left her early that morning had broken some sort of a dam within him, "I couldn't find you in the cave, and I thought... and Varg said it was a RED, HORNED male and I wasn't here, and I'm sorry! And I shouldn't have left! But you needed breakfast and so did Kimaji and that momo chick and I was SO damn SCARED and and...." and he paused, for some reason suddenly noticing that he was perhaps, just perhaps, making a complete and utter fool of himself. If his distressed, squeaky voice hadn't done him in, it was no doubt the fact he was practically clinging to Kizuka's form, as if it were an anchor. If not that, it was no doubt the fact he looked like a child whose... never mind that.

Fact was, he was making an utter fool of himself.

And he'd only just noticed this.

Swiftly, he let go of her form, almost as if she burned, and slowly flattened his ears back against his skull, hiding them from view, sinking them into the mane that snaked down his neck and back, "Er..." he coughed at this point and made a small movement to point behind him with a clawed finger, "I er... caught us lunch?" the words were meek as he arched a brow and finally focused his gaze on her, almost expecting her to burst out laughing at any given moment. Ushaufu had just probed that despite green pelt, it was indeed possible to blush several shades of red; he could have been the god of Tomatoes at this point, "Lunch which I.... kinda dropped... and left somewhere behind... er yeah."

Kizuka's eyes went wide and she jerked back a little as he grabbed her to yell hysterics into her face. Not that she blamed him, really; had it been Kimaji that had faced Dath that day... well she didn't want to think about that. Kizuka attempted, in vain, to get a word in edgewise when the lion suddenly threw himself back and away from her to sit in an overly haughty fashion as he tried to put on an air of calm. It seemed his own absurdity had finally caught up to him.

The lioness refused the urge to giggle and instead coughed down her laughter, covering her maw with her paw for a few moments. After getting control over herself she cleared her throat and dropped her maw back into the dust, "Yes... there was a red male here today, Varg told you truthfully.. and I'm glad he did, though I was going to bring you the news myself."

She frowned a little as she thought once more over the events of that afternoon. How much to tell him was a heavy factor as she'd not explained the complete circumstances of Momo's condition or being to him as of yet. Indeed, she wasn't certain that she ever would as such a thing was not her secret to tell, though she'd hinted towards it when offering their queen an explanation of why she'd allowed a pregnant female to remain in a dying land.

Kizuka shook her head slightly, "He didn't do me any harm, though he did offer it... he was looking for Momo.." She sighed, explaining slightly, "It wasn't a good sort of 'looking' either, Ushu... I think he means to kill her if he finds her."

His pose would have indeed been overly haughty... had it not been for the fact the twitching of his right eye, and the constant swallowing gave him entirely away. As soon as her words reached him, the male allowed himself to practically slump forward, letting out a raspy sigh; she hadn't laughed, and that was a relief, however, the fact that lion hadn't touched her felt as if he'd suddenly jumped into a frozen lake head first.

For a moment, it didn't quite matter that he'd offered her a threat, or that he might be after Momo; all that mattered was that Kizuka was safe. It took Ushaufu a full minute and a half to blink and come to terms with what she'd said, "Wait, what?" he paused, recollecting himself, blinking a second time, as if the gesture would somehow be able to clear his thoughts, "He threatened you?" puffing up, his lack of mane seemed almost unnoticeable for a moment, his brows knitting together to offer a scowl, "What's this about killing that Momo-chick?" he had to admit he hadn't been very well acquaintanced with the pale stripped lioness, but that was his own doing.

Ushaufu was one to stay aside; he wasn't used to being social, or nice to others, and thus had since decided to offer minimal contact to others (Kizuka and Kimaji aside). However, from what little brush he'd had with Momo, only one thought came to mind; anyone wanting to harm or kill such a delicate, sweet, polite looking creature, was out of his mind. As far as he could tell, Momo wouldn't have been able to harm a fly were she to try to do so; Ushaufu had his doubts she even knew how to hunt, so meek did he see her to be, "Who'd ever hurt her?" his features twisted into confusion that allowed Kizuka to see the child within him, for just a moment. The gesture was innocent, a phantom of the face he must've showed her long ago... that first night she'd held him and sung him a lullaby.

It was gone soon enough however, and only a calculating expression remain; that, without a doubt, was mirror of his own realm, "Someone strong a wishing for a challenge wouldn't so much as look her way; she's broken..." his eyes narrowed slightly, looking away from Kizuka, "If it was a god... only one without morals would offer such a thing. Gods see themselves above mortals most of the time. Few exceptions to the rule; they don't see fit torturing mortals, or others. They're usually above that, and most are skittish about showing themselves..." he was talking to her, whispering, yet the way he was reasoning seemed to indicate he was practically thinking out loud, for her to hear, "I'm going to assume his realm to be a darker one; those of lighter realms wouldn't dare do such a thing... and even assuming his realm to be a dark one, he must be without much morals, offering harm to a creature whom practically looks like she would not defend herself," a pause followed, after which he glared at Kizuka, "We should leave, if you want that Momo-chick safe."

That was the conclusion he drew, at least. The idea of having a lunatic of a god, stalking them was not a good one; his instincts told him too, that he was probably the reason Momo was 'broken' to begin with, "It might be a coward's take on the situation, but at this point, we have little choice; I'm deception, not ... the god-that-read-minds. I don't even know what his realm might be; and this is amusing he is a god," a pause, the childish confusion seeping in again, "He was a god, right? Varg said something about a horn... despite my own nature..." he rubbed the back of his head with a paw at this point, looking charmingly... pathetic for a moment, awkward perhaps, boyish, "I've seen very few gods myself and only know one with a horn, and that would be my sister."

Somewhere, far, far away, Audilifu sneeze, glaring up at the sun, wondering how the hell it was possible to catch a cold in the middle of the dry season.
PostPosted: Fri Aug 17, 2007 1:13 pm

"Definitely a God," Was the first thing the brown lioness confirmed. He hadn't given her a name or 'realm' but she now knew enough about them to identify them, if they chose not to hide their wings and 'special' adornments from sight. This one certainly hadn't been remiss about giving himself away to a mortal; though he hadn't seemed to think it likely a mortal would catch him, either. Kizuka thought that Ushaufu had gotten it on the money about the nature of his Realm, "He didn't seem as if he were even trying to hide that, even after I caught his pathetic attempts at sneaking about the bush."

Kizuka shook her head, glancing about them to make certain Momo wasn't about to hear this. She wasn't so certain they should tell the female, what with her condition. "I was actually going to speak to you about moving. Its high time we joined with the rest of the pride in the center at any rate, life is a bit easier there... but... Ushaufu, I don't think we should tell the k-- Kimaji or Momo about this."

A frown appeared on Kizuka's maw at her near slip. "The kids." Did she really think of Momo as her child, now? It wasn't hard, in all honestly, what with the amount of care they were giving the broken Goddess and would probably continue to give to her children when they were born. Still, Momo was an adult and it wouldn't do to place her in a child's catagory. Kizuka resolved to keep herself more aware of her own thoughts and pushed the issue aside, "Beyond that, its high time for their birth. It would be better if we weren't so far from the group..."

She didn't say it, but the thought lingered on the air 'if the male comes back again.' Neither Ushaufu or Kizuka were around all the time, after all.

A snort followed Kizuka's first claim, "What ever happened to stealth around these parts... whatever happened to gods being ethereal," he looked away from his mate, rolling his eyes, somewhat annoyed by the fact another god was happily trotting around these parts; usually a protocol was met by others. Territory for games was territory at the end of the day; just like he had stayed away from the Oasis as War had been playing his own game there, he rather much expected others to respect this small patch of land as his own little playground, Storm King not withstanding (rather, gods with good intentions not withstanding. That sounded better).

Amusingly enough, for all of Ushaufu's strange, almost innocent ways, he noticed Kizuka's slip immediately, and arched a brow; it slipped high into his green bangs, followed shortly by the other one. In fact, he looked about to make a jab at her, his smirk already in place - after all, it was always fun to pick on the girl, even though... it was amusing to notice that mortal usually bested the god in this little area more often than not. The score Varg had been contemplating lately was probably something along the lines of 12 to 7 in Kizuka's favour. This was made visible by a simple fact; the god froze mid smirk, his front paw having already lifted from the ground in order to point a claw at her, his maw half open.

He remain in that pose for a long time; a full minute, before he blinked, and confusion washed over his features, "What birth...?" there was clear shock within his words; he didn't sound repulsed at all by the idea, but rather, extremely shocked that Kizuka was talking about something such as a birth as naturally as if talking about the weather. A birth he had no idea about. A birth he- ...

It did not compute.

"What birth?" this time his voice was not a whisper, but rather, his normal tone, his paw lowering to the ground as he tilted his head. It was brief however, and soon the male paled, "Oh no, I didn't- did I-? I didn't mean! You're not healthy! I didn't- Oh lord...." obviously having taken her words the wrong way (and obviously missing the point they had been intimate only recently and kizuka had mentioned this birth was near, not month AWAY), the god leaned forward, looking as shamefully apologetic as a large green.... dead-looking lion could, his nose brushing against her, "I didn't- I'm SORRY! I shouldn't have-" he choked slightly on his words and looked down at her pathetically, "You're not healthy! At any other time I'd have been so happy but you're- and- dsfggfbbsdfasa....asdfa!!" the words were no longer apparently understood, for he'd placed his paws over his maw, looking guilty as the child who'd been taking cookies out of the cookie jar."
PostPosted: Sat Aug 25, 2007 3:35 pm

Kizuka had caught the look on his face, bracing herself for a scathing remark and even narrowing her eyes at him as she made the comment about the cubs. They knew each other far too well, really; he was going to make a wise crack, she would respond, verbal dispute would ensue, she would win and they would go back to talking. At least she won most of the time, the last time Varg mentioned it he had said the score was around twelve to seven. Kizuka smirked at the thought but didn't stop the narrowing of her eyes or the way she'd leaned in to take his 'blow' when he seemed to think better of it and, in fact, actually looked scared.

The mistweaver's eyes flew open as he began to freak out. She jumped back a step, leaning away from him even as he leaned in to press his nose to hers, words run together and almost comically high-pitched in his confusion. The entire thing would have been laughable had she not realized half way through what he was flipping out about.

He thought she was PREGNANT?! "USHU!" She protested, appalled and yet the urge to laugh was once again returning, ten fold this time about. Any other time she may have been offended if she didn't completely agree with him. She wasn't READY for more cubs, not like this! Once more, her body shouldn't have been even capable of conceiving at the moment, the only reason why she'd been so willing towards him without the slightest warning about fatherhood.

And he just looked so PATHETIC about it. The female bit back her sniggers as long as she could, but the child-like expression on his face and vocalized squeaks of terror were just too much. The lioness roared out in laughter, coughing half way through for the pain it inflicted on her throat, but still managed to giggle her way through it.

Stomach to the ground now, Kizuka wiped her eyes after a moment, snickering lightly as she glanced up at him. "ush-u-ushu..." She stammered a litttle, fighting her giggles long enough to get out something in the way of information. "I'm n-not pregnant.. " The laughter rolled through her again, taking over for a minute more before she shook her head and finally sat up again. "I am not pregnant.. heh.. d-didn't I tell you? She's been pregnant for the past few months... of course, it happened while you were away."

Her first protest fell upon deaf ears as the male pretty much freaked out over the possibility he was going to be the cause of the DEATH of his mate and possibly of his LITTER of babies (because let's face it - Ushaufu knew pretty darned well that a litter right now would kill them all). Kizuka was in no state to have cubs at the moment; true, the forest was better off, and the rains were bound to return soon, what with the signals he'd spotted so far, but not everything was well and oh GOD he had KILLED them for a few moments of PLEASURE (albeit a few really god damned good hours of extremely good pleasure that he'd never forget... but alas, right now that was a moot point).

He was a fallen god; he was so going to HELL for this (was that even possible? Ushaufu didn't quite know, nor did he care at the time), and he was going to BURN there to death for this and-

"I'm n-not pregnant.. "

"Right! you're not pregnant! And It's all MY fault and I didn't MEAN to because Oh GOD I LOVE-" he paused mid proclaim and blinked, looking comically off balance for a moment. His brows knitted together, then lifted straight into his bangs again, only to come back down as he closed his eyes and forced a hissing breath through his teeth. Breath in, breath out... breath in, breath out...

After inhaling and exhaling a few times, the god rubbed the bridge of his nose, still looking comically confused; further more than before, if ever possible, specially due to the fact that on top of confused, he looked horribly embarrassed. This was the second time in a span of ... not even an hour that he'd made a fool of himself. Lord help him, "Wait... you-you're not pregnant?" the question was whispered, almost as if Deception were afraid that uttering it louder would somehow make it real despite her claim, "I-I," a second pause, and this time, Ushaufu paled further than before if possible, "WHO DID IT! I'LL KILL HIM! I SWEAR!" of course, due to the fact Kizuka had not mentioned just WHO was pregnant, he'd jumped to conclusions.

Again.

And being the god of Deception, it was his job to assume the worst. Always the worst, "HOW?!" he looked panicked, the question was squeaked, "I didn't know Kimaji was seeing someone! WHO THE HELL TOUCHED MY BABY?!" because that's what Kimaji was right now; a baby. For the time being anyhow.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 25, 2007 6:09 pm

The second time around was worse than the second, and for a few moments Kizuka really did think Ushaufu was going to kill her--from laughter, rather than a litter. This time she collapsed against his side, hiding her gaffs in his coat as she tried, desperately, to stop laughing long enough to fully explain for the poor boy, but he was making it so difficult!

That was when she caught the last shout. His baby? Now that was an interesting statement, and one that forced Kizuka to cough herself into solemness once more. It made her happy that he thought of Kimaji as such, though there was that part of her that was rather uneasy about it, if only for the last remaining kind memories of Triv'an. Those were few and fleeting, however, and she succumed to the sheer happy of having Ushaufu claim her daughter as his own. Even better, now that she thought on it, was him acting as he did towards a family. Without seeming to think about it he implied very strongly that he wanted one, even so far as to say he'd be happy about it in a better situation.

All this brought a grin to her maw again and she licked his muzzle to try and calm him. "Not Kimaji, Ushu.." She couldn't hide the tremor of laughter still in her voice. "Mo-on-a-sai," She pronounced slowly, grinning wider with each syllable. "Momo is pregnant, she came here that way."

Oh.

OOooOOoooooh.

...Right. Well, that made a tiny bit more sense, actually, thinking on it; or so thought the god as he settled back into a sitting position, blinking slightly, almost disorientated by the whole situation. Ushaufu couldn't have possibly looked more lost had he been placed in the middle of an unsolvable labyrinth, actually.

"Uuuhh..." a pause followed his unintelligent claim, after which he coughed into a paw, "Right, Momo, okay. Right, right.... yeah..." he wasn't entirely embarrassed over his own outburst; rather, he was more preoccupied over having misunderstood what was going on. Not once, but twice - the outburst was only natural, in his mind, and thus nothing to be embarrassed over. The fact he'd misunderstood, however, was a blow to his ego, what with him supposedly being the master of trickery and lies. So thus he did the next best thing that came to mind.

He sulked.

Tell truth, had Kizuka not spoken slowly the name of the other female, almost as if she were talking to a child, Ushaufu would probably still be raging around, trying to find some unnamed culprit. It was during his small sulking moments that the god made a small connection that seemed unusually... empathic for someone such as he, "That Momo chick is broken though... if she's pregnant..." a pause, during which one could have sworn the wheels withing the male's head were turning as he thought, "You don't suppose..." he closed his maw reaching this point and frowned; no that could not be possible.

Not from a god. No god would...

Would they? Specially not a mortal female?

He turned a pained expression towards Kizuka, half disgusted by his own pessimistic thought; being a god, he'd always played with mortals. But not THAT way. Who would ever play with anyone, THAT way? Mortal or not? "Leaving would indeed be a good idea..."
PostPosted: Tue Aug 28, 2007 2:06 pm

"Yes, leaving is a very good idea," Kizuka agreed, mirth gone as she watched the realization form over Ushaufu's face. Somehow her heart remained light, however, giddy with the way the things he had let on about, even if he hadn't meant to. Somehow it made her heart flutter higher than a kite and she gave his jaw a gentle lick. Her agreement and expression, one of the utter most seriousness, should have told him all he'd need to know about Momo's situation, indeed she didn't feel right spelling it out to him bluntly as Momo had given her the information in confidence.

Now that Dath had shown his face about Umande'mfuni, however, Kizuka felt that he should have some sort of understanding about it. "Lets go find that meal you left with Varg?" She headed off in the direction it smelt as if he'd come from, and indeed she could still see a slight trail of broken foliage. "Feathers is probably getting worried at your taking so long."

The nickname was stated with a tone of love and patience, for Varg, despite the special difference, had become a sort of grandfather or beloved uncle to their family. "I was trying to find Momo or Kimaji when you called me. I know they're about here somewhere, but they both have a tendency to lose themselves until nightfall... when they get back we'll pick up and move closer, if not into the pride itself. I know Momo is a little anxious about moving into a larger group... even then, I'm not sure how well her pregnancy will be received with the others--though I'm not really expecting the children to live."

"Well..." he licked his lips and nose slightly before continuing, a reflex act, mostly as he tried to calm himself down from the previously nerve wracking situations, "Well, I'd always heard they were a seclusive bunch; they'll accept you, and Kimaji, being born from mistweaver blood," a pause as he stood up at her request to go find Varg; he talked on, regardless of the fact, "As far as I go, I'm not sure I'll be accepted in, however..."

Dark red eyes narrowed then as the god pondered something, turning his head as they walked, to offer her a secretive smirk; one that showed what he was, and whom he was at the same time, almost playful in nature, "If I'm rejected, there are ways for me to stay about, without anyone knowing; I am a shadow," and he meant that almost literally. He'd grown up, and had had little use for his powers since coming to the jungles, however, that did not mean they were not there... latent, awaiting for him to need them. He could by now use illusions at a rather large scale, and would no doubt be able to hide himself successfully from the pride if the need were to arise. He'd be able to stay by Kizuka's side, regardless of the outcome of the situation.

He hoped it wouldn't come down to it, but either way, he knew he could.

That aside, his mind supplied him with a few, rather interesting uses he could give his powers, if all went well. In a way, it was a defense his mind was using to allow him to push previously embarrassing situations away, not to mention much darker situations too, "A game of hide and seek," he said, quite cheerfully suddenly, his head boobing up and down as he padded towards the carcass he knew he'd left in the distance, "Wouldn't that be amusing? Being caught by a shadow you can't see," he smirked at her, then paused as he heard Varg's not so distant voice, followed by the ruffling of feathers, "Later though."

"Bloody.... god damned.... assholic, moronic....good for nothing lack-of-a-predator!" the words were hissed as the hawk hopped from branch to branch, agitated, his wings flapping up and down as he tried to scare small serval away from the carcass; the feline blinked and hissed back up at the avian before resuming it's feeding, "Get your own food!" still agitated, the hawk flapped don from his perch to use his claws, the serval batting a paw at him, snapping it's jaws before resuming it's attempt at stealing away small nibbles of the dead animal's flesh.

It wan't till Ushaufu arrived to loom almost comically over the carcass, his shadow engulfing the serval's body, that it finally fled away, "See, shadows are really useful," the words were drawled out at Kizuka, even though it had been obvious his thoughts had been on a different level entirely, just moments ago.

Kizuka chuckled at her mate. She rubbed her side against his, head brushing under his chin before she bent to help herself to a mouthful of what he had brought. Her stomach had rumbled a little, though she wasn't inclined to take from a carcass before her daughter had. It would ruin, though, and leaving food to waste wasn't something she would ever be inclined to do; not after the life she'd lead. "Shadows are always good for something--shade, comfort, relief..." She offered him a teasing smirk, "Though I thought he might refrain from such games considering his assumption moments before."

Not that she wished to turn him off of such games--but she, too, hadn't considered how dangerous their love might be for her and anything she could end up carrying. Certainly, she thought there was no danger right now, but her body was mending itself rather readily.

Turning her gaze from Varg as she dropped that topic to spare the hawk any embarrassment, she offered him a fond smile. "Thank you for watching this for us... and for this morning, though I didn't see you there. Ushu said you saw that God, though?"

"There's no need to culminate the games; just a chase is exciting."

And by then the hawk narrowed his eyes, almost sulky in nature, his beak opening slightly, closing and opening, snapping at the air, "Right, you two can talk complete and utter nonsense while I keep the bloody poachers away from the meal; go on now, don't mind me, feel free to continue," oh, he knew it wasn't nonsense they were talking about, alright. He wasn't old, and battle scarred for nothing; he understood, as soon as the words had flown out of Kizuka's maw. He wasn't annoyed at them either, not really, but he was meant to play his part, and thus, his part he'd play.

Rightfully so, too, he thought as he flapped his wings to land skillfully on the god's head. One of his claws feet stomped on the green mane, though careful not to inflict damage, "And as official guardian of the life form called Ushaufu, I hereby ground him to remain in the bloody cave and not engage in se-" he could not finish his phrase, for the male lion tossed his head up and snapped meaninglessly at the bird, forcing him to take refuge on a branch. Had he had the ability to stick out his tongue, Varg would have. He felt childish. He liked it though, and found himself smirking inwardly.

A snort from the male as he lowered his head to eat, ripping a chunk of meat, tossing it up in the air for the hawk to catch in the process. He snuck a glance at Kizuka and found himself snorting again, though he doubted he'd been seen; if she though she'd turned him off, she was wrong by a mile. That smirk had done him him. It'd done what no one else had managed to ever do in his lifetime; he'd keep THAT a secret for now however.

Bracing himself on a branch, the hawk ate from the chunk he'd been offered; it was larger than a mice, and thus, he knew he'd be perfectly satisfied, "Aye, I did. Didn't see it wise to reveal meself thu; you were handling yerself well enough that I saw. And he left, so I figured it was okay. This moron here ran off before I could TELL him that though." Ushaufu grumbled something about a birdbrain in between mouthfuls, but otherwise did not acknowledge the conversation at hand; he was glad the bird had not witnessed the previous outbursts.
