At last the sun had set.

With a small clink and a rustle, a shadowy figure emerged from within the forest. The bright sun too brutal for his sensitive eyes, the silent figure preferred to wander the fields once night fell across the land.

A glimmer flickered, and the stallion bobbed his head, enjoying the clanking sound the lantern in his mouth made as the metal link holding it to the rod bounced against each other. Small amusements, but amusements none the less. He was feeling mischievous, but he would only act on this impulse should something provoke it out of him.

It was a calm night. A perfect night for wandering... or was it?

The moonlight was shining its gentle silvery rays onto the dark landscape of the land. The still waters of the reflective lake particularly; had a calming effect on Yuna. Perhaps it was because somewhere in her hazy memories the soquili had an inclination to believe that she had spend a magical moment together with someone special. Of course, it could very well have been a dream as the lines between what was real and...what was not seemed very hazy; at least on such a calm night as this.

A soft footstep made Yuna turn and smile as the familiar figure of Thelerian appeared. Although not announced, this gentle stallion had become a sort of unofficial leader of her unofficial herd. Thelerian pawed the ground sheepishly before speaking. It was obvious that the stallion had not intended to be found out by Yuna. This was even more reinforced by the way the runes on his legs glowed. "Miss...Yuna... You must not be in the open like this...at night. Kalonas...skinwalkers... hot-blooded stallions.... Dangerous business this...," the stallion muttered looking warily about the open as if expecting some phantom or another to appear before them. Thelerian always seemed to have a sense of impending doom on his mind when night fell.

Yuna whinnied a soft laughter at the stallion's uneasiness. "Sure Thel. I'll be going in a minute. You must be tired standing watch like this. Why don't you join Arod and Danae? I'll be coming soon. Promise,"

Thelerian eyed the mare suspiciously but said nothing. Turning slowly, the stallion carefully made his way back to where the others were. "Don't...stay out too late...Yuna," Thelerian said as he carefully made his way back to the line of trees that offered them shelter.

Yuna nodded before once again becoming lost in the water's shimmering surface.

A cool summer breeze blew by, airing the warm stallion who was quite humid under his cloak. The wind threatened to blow out his candle, and the stallion turned against it, shielding and protecting the flicker with his body. He would not allow the wind to take away his spark this time. It was hard enough trying to get it relit!

Glancing up and away from the lantern's inside, glowing eyes met with the back of a figure standing yards away, a mare obviously entranced with the nearby lake. A grin spread wide across his face and he tightened his hold on his lantern, before slowly making his way in the direction of the lake, and the mare.

He had never walked straight, but it never bothered nor concerned him. He was what he was, and it amused him, so he continued. Weaving about, he finally reached his destination and stood silently behind the mare, awaiting her recognition of his presence.

Yuna would not have noticed the other's presence as his foosteps were ever so light. Not have noticed that is, until a small clinking sound caused by the other's lantern alerted her of his presence.

Turning swiftly around Yuna gave a start at the presence of the other. He was dressed in what could only have been a cloak and yet, the way in which he had carried himself and that wide grin of his made the mare instantly wary of him. But as there was no other way out of this save swimming across the lake, Yuna stood her ground; silently scolding herself for being so careless.

"What do you want, sir?" Yuna asked guardedly.

Questioned, already? How hasty this mare was!

She was awaiting his response, and he knew it. He could respond, he had vocal chords after all, but he chose not to. No point in saying anything if you didn't have anything to say to begin with.

Since she had discovered him, he had lost the element of surprise, and no longer could he happily send a surprising thunk to her head with his iron possession. Alas, it would have been funny, had he still had the opportunity. Instead, he bowed down towards her and then took a few steps backwards, offering more space between the two of them.

Was he trying to tell her something? Show a sign of politeness? Make her wonder what he was up to? Of course not. He was Poe, and he did things as he wished when he wished to do them, with or without cause or reason. It was a delight, however, to run across another life form so late in the evening. Typically, he roamed alone, but company was always a treat to interact with. Most evening dwellers were not the friendliest of companions to hang about, but this mare seemed harmless enough to have a bit of fun with.

Mistaking his disappointment over not being able to thunk her head with his metal lantern for being hurt by her rather harsh words, Yuna immediately felt sorry for her actions. What right had she to sound so harsh onto another when it was possible that he just wanted to have a talk?
His clothing, although odd was no cause to be discriminative about. Hadn't she too been stared at because of her attire? And...the way he had moved backwards...perhaps he was shy...

Nevertheless, Yuna kept her guard up. It wouldn't do to suddenly be assaulted by this silent being in front of her. A mental image of something quite disturbing filled her mind but Yuna quickly pushed that thought aside. Her companions were within those line of trees after all...right?

"I'm sorry if I have offended you sir," Yuna said in a gentler tone this time. " It's just that...you have caught me off-guard," Here Yuna paused as she was quite at a lost at how this conversation should go.

He paused, his train of thought caught off balance as this oddly robed mare apologized to him. What did she have to apologize for? Poe took a step forward to get a better look at the mare, whose hair rivaled his own in shortness. Well, it would have at least, if he had had any to begin with.

Curious, he tilted his head as he examined her further. Her clothing, unlike his, was very well kept and colorful. What did this mean, to wear clothing? He himself was cloaked because.... well, he didn't know why he was cloaked. Did this mare wear those articles intentionally?

It was then he noticed the long braid running down her backside. It was calling out to him, to reach out and give it a tug, but the iron metal in his mouth prevented his temptation from coming to life.

Instead, he simply bowed again, as if graciously accepting her apology, and then rose up again to face her eye to eye once more.

His silent attitude was starting to trouble Yuna slightly. Was she seeing things? Or was this specter before her real? Perhaps Danae might have enjoyed meeting a being as strange as him but Yuna was not thrilled about it to say the least.

Perhaps he's an unsent a voice whispered within her mind. Yuna blinked in suprise. What exactly was an unsent anyway?

But before she could ponder this over however, she noticed that the stallion was eyeing her; her clothing and her tail in particular. Disturbed by it, Yuna took a step forward in an attempt to reach her friends.

"Well...it has been nice errr...talking to you," Yuna said trying to step past this silent being.

Poe frowned as he saw the mare attempt to excuse herself and walk away. Why, that wasn't any fun at all! One dark hoof mooved to the side, and the other one followed, blocking her path. Now this could prove to be a fun game to play. Maybe if he was lucky, he could get her to fall back and topple into the rippleless water that lay behind her. He didn't want to harm the obviously nervous mare, but being mischevious is what he did best.

Still remaining in front of her, he contemplated his options on what to do. Barely opening his mouth, rarely used vocal chords hissed out, "Leaving so soon?"

Upon hearing those words, Yuna stopped in mid-step. His voice had sounded like it had never been used in a long time and it did nothing to alleviate her uneasiness at being blocked. Perhaps she could just shove her way past?

But until he made the first move, Yuna was unwilling to come into contact with a soquili as ghostly as this. Flattening her ears at the other, Yuna attempted to sound more confident than she actually felt.

" Yes. And I believe you are in my way," Yuna said, now trying to sidestep the stallion on the other side. " I do not wish to remain here,"

Hidden in the shadow of his cloak, dark eyebrows rose, and he gave her a look of surprise. A gentle clink from the iron lantern was all the response he offered as he backed further away from the mare, in yet a second bowing pose for the evening.

Orange eyes lit up as he watched her, unable to surpress the grin from his face. Oh, he wasn't finished having fun with her this evening, but she didn't have to know it. Not yet, at least. The fun had just begun and he was quite enjoying it.

"As you wish......." he humbly hissed in response at last, awaiting her departure from his presence.

Taking her chance, Yuna hastily moved past the cloaked soquili. She had expected the ghostly one to bar her way but it would seem that she was wrong.

Then again, the soquili had behaved in a most peculiar manner about everything so expecting it to do what a normal soquili would do would be rather foolish. Once she had gotten past the other, Yuna broke out into a canter towards the trees. She supposed that under normal circumstances, she would have stopped to thank the stranger for moving out of the way but this time, Yuna guessed that allowances had to be made. Besides, she did not trust that grin and the glint in his eyes. It reminded her of people who had had ulterior motives behind their actions

Her pace quickened and she, wordless, made her way past him and headed into the direction of the forest he had just wandered from. As if retracing his steps, the stallion followed, intent on keeping up with the mare who seemed intent on leaving him far behind. The lantern made an awful clatter of noise, but he didn't seem to mind. He was no longer hiding his presence from her, so he didn't care if she heard him or not. Nor did he mind if the candle went out at this point, though it still fought on to survive. This was far too interesting than attempting to keep a candle lit.

Sill weaving, he attempted to draw closer behind her, pretending to be a shadow of her footsteps. Perhaps she would lead him to yet more fun and mischief to get into before the morning sun rose.

Being followed by such a specter severely tested Yuna's nerve and she increased her pace even more. Turning her head just enough to give a backward glance, Yuna almost wished she hadn't. He was weaving after her! Not running straight like any respectable soquili but weaving! In and oult like some sort of ghostly snake-like shadow! And that awful clattering lantern!

With renewed vigour the mare pushed on determined not to scream in case it provoked her shadowy companion even more. Leaping over a fallen log, Yuna could almost, almost tell where her her friends had camped for the night.

He almost paused as he noticed her turn around to glance at him. Was she going to stop? She seemed to hesitate, but her pace continued, even growing faster.

Encouraged by her obvious want of trying to throw him off her trail, the dark stallion happily continued the chase, only pausing momentarily to step over the log which the female before him had managed to gracefully jump over with ease. It was a wonder she could walk so fast with her apparel on!

Poe himself could feel the sweat beginning to grow on his neck and backside, his skin hot from wearing the cloak on the warm summer's evening. But running provided the wind against his face, and the breeze cooled him off as he pursued her further towards the forest. He was curious still as to where she was leading him, and his orange eyes attempted to look around the running mare and into the forest. Was there something or someone in there waiting on her?

As she ran to where her friends were, a sudden feeling came over her and she intinctively swerved to the left; following the line of trees that marked the border of the forest. She would not cause trouble to her sleeping companions. Who knows what they'd do once they have found out what trouble she has been into. They might even forbid her to even go to the lake by herself! That thought alone was unbearable to Yuna.

Thus making up her mind, the female soquili carefully eyed the other through the corner of her eyes. Good. He was still following her but there was still quite a distance between them yet. Perhaps she would still have a chance to lose him somewhere.

Hmmm... now this was interesting.

Poe's trot lessened in speed as he found himself puzzled by the mare's sudden turn of direction. Was there something in her original direction she didn't want him to see? Or was this some kind of tactic to use in hopes of throwing him further off her trail? His mind raced on what to do... should he continue following her and have his fun that way, or should he continue on the path she originally set forth on, and perhaps she would turn around and attempt to stop him?

Deciding finally that it would spoil the fun to potentially have nothing to discover and lose the mare's trail at the same time, Poe turned as well and continued on after the speeding mare, determined to keep up as he increased his own speed yet again.

((Sorry for the late reply >.<;; Was busy packing to go home for the holidays))

Yuna paused and turned to eye the cloaked stallion. He seemed uncertain; as if he was unsure if it would be a good idea to still keep to her trail. Well, to be honest, Yuna too was unsure if she actually wanted him to keep trailing her or to let her friends get a rather nasty shock. Part f her had actually rooted for the latter choice but it seemed that it would not be so. The stallion had decided to pursue her and had increased his pace. Turning quickly around, Yuna made her way across a particularly nasty piece of rocky ground. A trip here would definitely not bode well.

While all this was going on, Thel was trying his best to nudge Arod awake and had only just succeeded. Nostrils flaring the golden wind stallion glared at the painted one; obviously enraged that his sleep had just been cut short.
"What's wrong Thelerian? No sane soquili would wake another up at this hour. Why, the fireflies are still up!"

"Not so...loud," Thelerian said taking a step back from the fuming stallion. "Yuna...by the lake. Go...watch her,"

"Wy should I?" Arod asked sulkily. "She's a grown mare. She could handle herself,"

"Go," Thelrian said giving Arod a shove. "I don't want...anyone to be...hurt,"

"Tsch, fine," Arod replied grumpily. Folding his wings tighly around his body to keep out the chill, the stallion trotted to the edge of the line of trees. Perhaps if he was lucky, Yuna would be in the process of coming back to the herd.

((I'm sorry for my own late response ^^;; Trying to deal with my kelpi family while I still can~ Time limits on pregnancy and baskets makes things a bit tough for other RP ;; <3 ))

He heard the faint rustle and he paused in his run, if only to make sure he hadn't been hearing things other than the wind rushing past him. Again, the faint rustle occurred, and it seemed to be coming from the direction in which Poe had been tempted to take.

Ears perked, he temporarily forgot about the mare he had been pursuing. It was obvious to him now that she had been trying to hide something that was hidden in those bushes, else she would have taken that route in the first place.

Trotting back to the original location where he had turned, bright orange eyes searched the wooded area, awaiting the newcomer to arrive on the scene.
