I think he's kind of dumb. Granted, I don't know everything about it but it seems like he's just there to push everyone off the level in whatever direction he chooses. Depending on the level and how slowly it scrolls back to the level this could absolutely blow as an assist trophy.

Agreed. Then again, I don't plan on using items for long. Just long enough to know what they do.

I knew it was going to be assist trophies like this its necessary they cant all be uber. You have to throw some lame ones in to make them decide if using the items worth the risk.
