There is a new prediction that the year 2012 something big is going to happen, and some believe it will be the end of our world

Everyone has their theories on how the world will end? What's yours?

I know the planet is running low on drinkable water, oil reserves and other natural resources.
And could be reason enough for countries to go to war.
I know that global warming is causing severe changes to weather, but may also start another ice age. If it doesn't completely cover the planet, there could be vast populations that are displaced and forced to move to other counteries, which would also put a strain on food and resources.

There is always a chance that the sun will produce a giant enough solar flare to cause some serious havock, or incinerate the planet.

We could get hit by an asteroid that either destroys the planet, mucks up our treck around the sun, or tip our axis and alter the position of our polar caps.

I'm sure though that there is no end to the posibilities, it is just a matter of what will get us first.

Apparently, according to the newspaper here in Evansville, since Starbucks and McDonald's went to China, the Chinese have acquired the taste for milk. Because of this, milk prices have gone up because the major players in milk making (Australia, New Zealand, America, and a couple others) have a greater demand. (*raises fist up towards Starbucks* See? I knew that you'd be bad for the world...you guys have built two locations darn near 3 blocks away from each other!!! Stop building stores, I want my milk!! *sigh*)

I have actually heard that this day of destruction came from the Mayans' calendar, which is said to be the most accurate. It frightens me a little bit, but really, I tend to live my life day to day. My future thinking consists of no more than a few semesters down the road right now. I'm just trying to make it through college. Now if the world was supposed to end...next year, then I might be even more freaked out about it.

Honestly though, I really don't know how freaked out I would be. I mean, if its the end of the world, its the end. There isn't anything we can do to stop it, right? (*thinks back to the Y2K obsession*<--I thought that was ignorant...). Really the only thing we can do is continue to live our lives as happy and regret-less as possible. Continue to love those in your life, and continue to appreciate their company. Don't take those you love for granted. In fact, don't take *any*thing for granted. We complain everyday about how the prices of gas are going up, and I just complained about the prices of milk going up. I'm glad that I can (sometimes) afford it at all. There are others who can't even get water which is *free* in the USA!

Really, like I said, I don't know how we are to end, nor do I think it really matters, we all die eventually. The world will be reborn, don't worry, it isn't the end forever, our souls will figure something out. That is what scares me the most. Losing my soul. Being the end for my soul. Is there even such a thing? An end to your soul? Its hard to imagine birth let alone death when in regards to your soul...

Yeah, for all we know, the world could end in a couple of days...the 20th day on the 12th hour... gonk But, I'm not going to let it guide my life. I have a life to live and I very will do so!

Well I've got enough in life to get me down, so I don't worry too much about the termination of the world, although it could go in a variety of different ways. But I'd rather not jump at shadows and just get on with the living now and the dying later. Later might be tomorrow, this afternoon, or 5 years from now.

The Ice Age is earth's natural state. Eventually we will enter it, but humanity will not be wiped out. We are far too adaptable, and our technology will make it easier for us than for the neanderthals. Humankind will never die out, that is not our destiny.

Interesting...But I disagree. Anytime a natural disaster happens (tornado, hurricane, etc.) people die so easy. The human race is a stupid breed if you get down to it. We're cruel when bad things happen. Survival of the fittest so to speak. Our technology can't save us that easy. It'll only make out deaths slower. It's not keeping warm that would kill us. It would be that lack of food and resources. Man kind will die one day. That's all there is to it.

I have to kind of agree with Arkham. As humans, we rely too much on what others can give us, not what we can get for ourselves. The lack of resources, or rather, the lack of the ability to gain resources, is what will eliminate us. We have become so dependent on our technology, that even the thought of camping without electricity sends most into a state of horror.

And I like camping...

I like camping too

Although, I admit I don't think my poor body could handle completely roughing it. I would still want my mattress

I find it interesting that a Gentle Spirits guild would have a thread such as this that focuses on destruction. Even though all of the choices listed above are possibilities, wouldn't it be more beneficial and calming to concentrate on serene, loving outcomes?

Both Gary Zukav and Brian Weiss have shown proof that our physical world will reach a place in the future where the earth is once again green and beautiful, the people live in harmony with their surroundings, and peace and love are the order of the day. Maybe society will have to go through a destructive experience to get to that point, one of disease, war or environmental chaos, but isn't it much more uplifting to think about the outcome, rather than the process?

When I think of all those possibilities listed above, I can feel my vibrations slowing and becoming sluggish. When I think of a beautiful, peaceful world, my vibrational frequency rises! Knowing that we create what we think about, which would you prefer to focus on?

Good point
And something else to point out is that we don't have to go through a distructive phase to get to the good stuff. If we changed our ways, recognized the value and importance of everything around us, and lived accordingly we wouldn't have to worry about the doom and gloom.

My thoughts exactly!! And the very reason I find it so wonderful to find guilds such as this one, and some of the sites you have listed on here... i see them as signs that we (as a society) ARE moving to heal ourselves and our wrong-thinking! It may be a slow process, when we all know the sooner the better, but if it happened overnight, we would not be able to learn from it and appreciate it, no?

Actually, there is more to it than just the learning and appreciation. There may be resentment if things go too fast. Change is best served at a pace that is comfortable for everyone to reduce some of the stress and friction that might occure. Otherwise, nothing moves and may even slide backwards. In the case of the healing on our planet, there are those who have gotten comfortable with the way things have been and are nervous about moving away from those types of thoughts. That is why guides and such are calling out to those they dub "Lightworkers", "Starseeds" and whatever other collectives and brotherhoods there are now, to pause a moment and offer assistance to those who are not quite there yet. As they say "We want to awaken as many as possible", as best as possible.
