She had never seen such a heavily wooded area. Coming from the mountains where the only trees were either spread out sparsley or in little clumps, to see so many trees congregated in one area was quite the sight to see. One could barely see the sky through the canopy of leaves, but the light that did shine through was obvious in the darker parts. It came down in a stream, and the arctic mare made sure to keep flickering her gaze upwards so she could tell where the next opening would be.
The blue an white colored mare had told herself she'd venture around this region and remember it, so she wouldn't get lost. She had gone by the lake and by a few streams and had been through a clearing. She'd ehard of the desert, but that would mean going through the mountains, which is where she was sure she had hailed from. So her next option had been the forest, despite the warnings she had heard about staying closer to clearings. The mare, Cosette, had been told about the "darker" kinds of Soquili, and she was rather curious about where they were. But now in the forest walking on a very faded pathway formed by other critters, she was beginning to think about how easy it would be to hide here and attack unsuspecting prey.
But all these trees had to be a double-edged sword, right? If someone could hide here with ease, so could she! ... Even though with her white coat she stood out like a sore thumb. But if there really were such dangerous ones here that really hunted other Soquili, they would've popped out already, right? Telling herself there, Cosette released a sigh of relief. She doubted anyone else would be stumbling through the forest this early in the morning. It was dead quiet, except for the leaves crunching under her hooves.

Though she didn't expect it, there was another horse walking that same path she was, heading in her direction. Of course, Arsenic didn't know it. He had stuck to the woods for the most part of the past few days. He was slowly getting used to this land, and staying in an area that reminded him of a part of his home made it much easier.
Besides, he knew his sister liked wooded areas, so where better to start his search for her? At the thought of his sister his head dropped and he stared down at his hooves as he walked. His poor sister, out and about on her own. Oh, he hoped she was okay. He had nightmares about never being able to find her or of her death and would usually wake up in a sweat, panting. He had been so close to his sister when they were growing up, and now that she was lost he felt like the world was ending.
As he continued on the soft crunching of the leaves was the only thing to signal that he was there since his dark striped coat kept him well camoflauged unless you were truely looking for him. He looked rather scary, head low, ears back. Anyone could mistake him for the dark species of the forests.

((Wow Cosette ad Arsenic have different colors. xD Maybe we could plot something with them sometime? Not like love-plottage sincemy mare's already interested in someone, but maybe something else~?))
The mare continued to look around warily, eyes widening and narrowing every few seconds as if to scrutinize the tree nearby or the pathway she was walking. Every little crunch under her feet ensured that she was walking there, and nobody else. But it sounded as if someone else was walking around... A fox? She paused in step to glance around, but her ears swiveled. She had stopped walking, but there was still that familiar crunch of leaves...
Without even thinking the mare sidestepped a few times over to get behind a fat tree, hoping to conceal herself. She really didn't want to come across some evil Soquili! Well, she kind of did, for the experience, but still! She bit down on her lower lip momentarily and poked her head out from behind the tree, looking around.
Cosette could not see the dark stallion walking the path, but only heard the fant sounds of someone walking. She opened her mouth to speak, but not words came from her throat.
