It had been such a long time since she had seen her sibling, though in all technicalities they weren't siblings at all. Kibuulu'ardhi was more of an adoptive sister in the family, having grown attached to Nyunya as a cub and modeling her as her mother. She couldn't help it back then, her mother having 'passed' away, and leaving a certain hole in her heart that Buu barely recognized as a yearning for a mother. Nyunya had been the first female that had really been motherly towards her, and that had sealed Nyunya's fate as a mother. Since a cub Buu had been growing up with her adoptive family, becoming an extra sister, and she loved it. Buu was ecstatic to have so many family members to play with and to love. She quite honestly adored every single one of them as much as her true brother and sister and father. But, there was the possibility that Buu just loved everyone, and that this was no extraordinary thing for her to love her adoptive family so much.
Buu had been missing a certain member of her adoptive family, though. Her brother Njozi had been away from the Kusini for quite a long time, and news had reached her that he had finally returned. It was her intention to see him, to give him the biggest welcoming back grin and to just be brother and sister again. Oh, how she had missed him! She could remember bits of their childhood in which they played together. Njozi had been gone so long, though, that she wasn't sure he'd be the same as he had been before he left. Buu had certainly grown in that time, to a pretty adolescent lioness, in appearance and personality. If a human, she would've probably been one of the most popular girls in school, but since she wasn't 'bitchy', she wouldn't have been on top. She was content with everyone (she believed) liking her, and she liking them in return.
As adolescents she no longer really slept with her own siblings. Sometimes Batuuli'binah would spend the night with her, just for some sisterly comfort, and last night had been one of those nights. She uncurled from her spot next to Batuuli, and smiling softly she left her sister to see if she could find Njozi anywhere today. It would be a dream to be able to talk to him again, and maybe he'd share some of his adventures with her. Buu had a passion for stories, and was a great listener. Sometimes she could picture herself doing the events that other lions had done in the story. Njozi was sure to have a few good tales up his paw, stories of adventure and excitement... of being away from home, which was one thing Buu seemed incabapable of doing. She was attached to her family, almost dependent of them. It would be good for her, in all actuality, to get away for a little while.

As the sun climbed slowly in the sky, throwing dazzling rays of light across the land, and all the shadows crept back into the holes from which they had escaped during the night, a lone lion was slowly waking from his slumber. He had taken up root under an old tree with its limbs spread wide and every branch still thick with the foliage of late summer. Still, with all of that protection, little bits of light still cascaded through the branches and refused to leave him in peace, dotting his face with blinding slants of dazzling sun. Grumbling to himself, he pulled his rather large frame up from the leaf-littered ground and stretched out the muscles that had been dormant during his long night. It was good to be back home finally, where he slept easier at night for knowing that the pride was safe and unaccustomed to harmful intruders.
"Argh," he muttered as his stomach gave a loud grumble, like a monster roaring in frustration. It made his insides feel rather bubbly, and very achey, which meant that he probably shouldn't have skipped supper; he couldn't help it though, he had been really tired from his journey. With the thought of a good Kusini deer locked into his mind, he began to stalk away from his night's sleeping grounds, and headed instead towards the area that the tree line met the meadow. There would certainly be good hunting there - no matter that it was a long walk off. He didn't mind walking, certainly, after all - he had just spent the last few months walking his paws off.
Setting off in that direction, he let a hum fall from his mug, something fairly tuneless and random - just to break up the silence of the morning. As his mind wandered, he absently began to think about the family he had so long gone without seeing. Rengo was gone, he knew, but his sisters were still here somewhere. He hoped to see them, soon, actually; even Amani, annoying as she usually was.

She had gotten up earlier then her brother, which gave her the opportunity to check a few places for him before she actually found him. Buu tried the drinking hole, a few good spots to sunbathe, and back at where her adoptive family usually frequented. Surprisingly, he was not in any of these spots, and she was quickly running out of ideas of where to look. She could remember all the places Njozi used to frequently visit, but time had passed and it couldn't be certain that he would return to those spots. It had been most likely he had returned to the rest of the family... but he hadn't been there. Silently she admitted that she was getting a little frustrated. That was a rare thing indeed for a lioness such as Buu, but when she got frustrated, she didn't give up, but instead pushed forward. She was going to find her brother, no matter what.
This was what led her into intercepting Njozi right before his hunt. It had only just occured to her that after a long journey he was probably hungry, and she happened to know a few good hunting spots. Fortunately, the first spot she went to was the spot that Njozi was headed off too. After searching for him for quite a while, it was a relief to have this little stroke of luck. His humming was what initially attracted her (mainly because it hurt her ears when there was only silence to /not/ block out the horrid sound). She knew quite a few lions who were tuneless, but none of them had this voice... this voice that was distantly familiar to one she once knew. It was deeper, and maybe a little more raspy, but it still held hints of the old voice. It was Njozi, she was sure of it!
The urge to just run from the brush and tackle him to the ground was nearly overwhelming, but they were close to the meadow, and he was making enough noise as it was. So, swallowing down her jittery nerves of excitement, she manuevered her way through the brush to come creeping up behind him. At that point... all she had to say was that her urge got the control over her (but she wasn't really too loud). "Njozi!" She broke out in a dead run to meet her adoptive brother.

Njozi had gotten a good two thirds of the way to his hunting spot, one that his father had shown him as a cub and knew to be frequented by many deer. He was generally a very happy lion, and though not always extremely intelligent, he wasn't stupid; he would stop humming when he got a little closer to his hunting grounds. It was lucky he hadn't stopped humming before, or his beloved adopted-sister might not have happened across him. As it is, he didn't stop, and she did find him, and it was a good damn thing they weren't any closer to that hunting spot - or they would have had to relocate.
"Eh?" he said rather loudly, jumping slightly and turning around just in time to see Buu making a dash for him. With a little, mischievous grin and a twinkle in his eyes, he lowered himself down into a crouch. Wiggling his butt behind him to get his balance correct, or for whatever reason felines do that, he waited until she was just in range - and sprang! With a gentle 'thump' noise, he pounced on her. As they both fell to the ground with a soft thud, he nuzzled his face all over her neck in an extremely eccentric manner.
"Oh, Buu, I missed you!" he cried in his best mimic of an excited female, rubbing her neck and face all over with his creamy mug and tickly, black half mane. After a moment, however, and many chuckles, he lifted his head up and tilted it slightly at her with his crimson eyes intent upon her cute little face, "I reckon you missed me, hm?" Oh, he was big-headed, but he was fun.

She had been expecting to catch him by surprise, and certainly that was what she had done, but she also wasn't quite expecting him to react in such a playful manner. Needless to say, she was delighted to be reunited with her brother. An ecstatic giggle left her throat as he pounced her, and as she fell back to be relentlessly nuzzled by her lighter-colored brother. She returned the affection, licking his cheek and nuzzling her face into it. Already a loud purr rumbled from deep in her chest, her happiness at finally seeing her brother nearly overwhelming. Oh, how could he have been gone for so long? It was a tragedy that they had spent so much time apart! Njozi belonged home with his family and friends, not travelling that huge world for whatever petty reasons there were!
He had grown so much bigger, and even had most of his mane in! A mane, though, that was beginning to be more bothersome then fun. It tickled when it brushed against her cheek, and some of it managed to get into her eyes for a little bit. What a pesky mess of hair a mane was, and she was thankful that she did not have one herself! Her fur was perfectly soft and pleasant to the touch, instead of being more stringy and... messy. "Of course I missed you, silly! If I hadn't missed you I wouldn't have spent all morning looking for you! You're so difficult to find sometimes, brother. I'm lucky you have such recognizable humming." She was kind enough not to tell him that it was completely horrid.
"Now, come on, get off of me so I can see how much you've changed!" Her voice was rising in pitch, which was typical of females when they were excited. Buu wanted to see her brother all grown up, and check for scarring and other dangerous ailments while she was at it. She couldn't help but be concerned for her brother, because he had so obviously been gone for a long time, and so many things could of happened to him in that duration of time. "I think your head's gotten bigger."

He grinned and got off of her, quirking a brow, "I can't be all that hard to find, look how big I am!" He said with a chuckle, emphasizing his point by doing a small little turn to show off his growing body. He was certainly much larger than most adolescents and was probably already as large as or larger than most adults. He was going to be a very, very large lion - just like his daddy. That was probably the appeal his grandmother saw when picking from Rengo or Njozi to be Usare'Wasii. It took a big lion to protect others, and Syeira just happened to be gifted with a big son and big grandson.
"My head, what?" he said, eyes widening slightly as a paw came up against his face. After checking it over thoroughly, he frowned to himself in thought. Was his head too big for his body? Wait, it couldn't be, he'd just fall over on his face if it was! "It is not," he muttered, giving her a dark look, but no less loving for it. Poor Njozi, he was slightly gullible and dimwitted at the best of times. "If anything, my mane is just bigger, Buu," he said, straightening back up proudly - oh, but he did miss points every now and then. He probably didn't even realize that she was teasing - and if he did, he didn't show it.
"I haven't changed much otherwise, though," he said, looking himself over in the process. He hadn't acquired any new scars, or anything of that sort, though he had come quite close at one point. There was no need to scare her with that sort of talk though.

She got back up on her feet, shaking her body to rid her pelt of dirt and vegetation. Later she would more thoroughly clean it with her tough tongue, because she was vaguely worried that she had little insects crawling through her fur. "You weren't in anyplace I expected you to be! I had to look everywhere for you!" Her tone was lightly scolding, telling him that next time he should be in a more obvious spot when she went looking for him. Her blue eyes scanned her brother's body, looking for any hidden wounds. But there were none, and admittedly Njozi had gotten a lot bigger. "You're HUGE. Sheesh, you're way bigger then me. I didn't think I was that tiny before I saw you again."
Her adopted brother and herself were alike in a lot of ways. Some times they could both just be total and complete blondes. But in the ways of blondeness, Buu was just a little less blonde then her brother. She had meant it as a joke, but Njozi actually thought that his proportions were wrong. Chuckling, she shook her head, giving him a sweet smile. "Just forget it. Your head is just fine, and it is most likely just your mane that's gotten bigger. It's such a pretty color, I love black!" She kept on feeding him compliments that could only... increase her brother's ego.
"I haven't changed much either, so it doesn't matter that you aren't too different. I'm glad you are how you are. You're still the same brother that was my /favorite/." Her smile had once again turned into a huge grin. "You've just gotten more handsome, and of course I've gotten a whole lot more beautiful. Don't you agree with me?"

As she got back to her feet, he took a step back and let his haunches settle comfortably onto the ground, wrapping his tail around his forepaws and letting the large, ebony tuft waver back and forth idly. "Yeah, I know. It makes mum angry," he said, his grin turned slightly into a smirk, "she never liked that dad was so huge compared to her, and now that I've turned out to be just like him. Well, she was always touchy about being so tiny." He simply laughed to himself and shook his head.
Convinced that his head was actually the right size, he took a deep breath and let it out in a sigh of relief. What would the ladies think of him if his head was too big for his body? Ugh, he didn't even want to imagine that. Ihlo would probably poke fun at him. "Yeah, it is the man, I think." At her compliments, his eyes took on a rather intent, excited look, "yeah? I always thought it was pretty sexy myself. Just like dad's actually; only it looks better on me because it's such a nice contrast to my fur." Oh boy, he could talk like this for hours; she shouldn't have gotten him started.
"Well, I'm glad that I'm still your favorite brother - I think I'd be upset if you decided you liked Rengo more," and he even managed to say that with a bit of a sullen tone stitched onto his words, shaking his head as if he were indeed imagining the situation. "Of course you've gotten beautiful; you actually look a good deal like Bibi now that I think about it, and I always thought Bibi was gorgeous." His Bibi, of course, was none other than Buu's sister, Syeira. "So, I think I'm going to be chasing down lions left and right pretty soon." He sighed at the thought, giving her a 'you're so much trouble' kind of look.

"She should be happy to see you at first too much so she won't notice how much bigger you've gotten. I'd give her a week before she starts getting grouchy about how much bigger you are then her. I'm fortunate that I'm still smaller then her. It makes her love me that little bit more." She grinned at Njozi, implying that Mother was going to like her better then Njozi because she was smaller. She sat down in front of him, making it only more obvious that Njozi had indeed grown so much quicker then she. Buu wasn't exactly delicate looking, her fur thick and she not lacking for a little meat on her. She was well-proportioned, and could be considered voluptuous.
Buu would never be cruel enough to tell someone that they didn't look good, and maybe Njozi had forgotten that after they had been so long apart and in his fussing over his body proportions. He would learn soon enough that all he would ever receive from his adopted sister was the highest of praises. "Yeah, it does constrast nicely, actually. But it's not, like, burning my eyes because your light coloration isn't pure white. You're becoming easy on the eyes, brother. Did you find any girls to tell you that on your travels?"
Rengo had left, and that was mainly why he had never taken over Njozi's position as her favorite brother. But, she didn't like thinking about him leaving, and so in fact let that thought float in her mind for only a few seconds before she shoved it away. "Rengo's got a pink mane, I could never like him more then you because of that!" She giggled, seeing it okay to tease Rengo because Rengo wasn't here right now. "Well, we're family, so of course we'd look similar. My eyes are prettier though, aren't they?" She shrugged off his look, knowing well enough that he meant no harm by it. "I hope you have fun with that. I'd raher have lions chasing /me/, instead of chasing them."

"Yeah, I know, I reckon that this week is going to be the only one that's even slightly tolerable. Afterwards, I'm going to hear all the time about how I should have been normal sized like Rengo" he said with a chuckle, glancing towards Buu. However, as she dared suggest that his mother loved her more, he gave a little huff. He opened his mouth to say something to her, but shut it again just as quickly. Deciding that he just wouldn't comment on her little tease, he ignored it - but continued to look rather sulky.
"I saw a lot of girls, but they were mostly all older than me, and even someone as good looking as I am can't get with those older lionesses - they're all pretty moody," he said, shaking his head. He was being serious, which is what was so bad - his voice didn't break into a laugh and there wasn't a joking hint in any of the words that spilled from his mug. "I figure, if I was older, maybe it would have made a difference, but being an adolescent in a pride full of adults doesn't get you anywhere." Ah, what confidence in his appearance!
"Yes, well, I suppose you really would look a lot alike, she is your sister after all," he said, though he paused and crinkled his brow at the thought. That was really an odd little triangle. His Bibi's youngest sister was his adopted sister, and.. he stopped thinking about it at that point and turned his attention back to the conversation; the thoughts hurt his brain. "They're pretty much the same color, but I think yours have a little more aqua in them," he said with a grin, "I really like aqua colors."

Buu had no idea how much bigger Rengo had gotten, and once again she was reminded that he was gone. This was something she really didn't understand... the urge to leave one's family behind at a young age. It was perfectly fine when you were older, if that's what you wanted to do. But Rengo hadn't been that old when he left. "You'll also hear all the time from me about how you're perfect, being the big size that you are. You're a stong lion!" Buu believed in something known as 'positive reinforcement', though she had no idea what it was called... it just seemed nice to point out everyone's good features instead of the bad.
"But wouldn't older lionesses be flattered to have someone younger and good-looking flirting with them?" Females seemed to like younger males, because it made them look good and feel younger. She couldn't picture Njozi not meeting some lovely ladies to chat and flirt with. Her brother wasn't bad looking, but maybe being so big wasn't as good a thing as she originally thought. "Yeah, if you were older they certainly would've given you more attention. You're hard enough to ignore right now, and you are striking. Lots of females should be falling head over heels in love with you!" Buu had as much confidence in Njozi's appearance as Njozi did. She was his destined ego-bloater.
Buu seemed to be supporting a slightly larger brain then her brother, though it was doubtful it was really that much larger. Smaller brains could be a family trait, and maybe Buu just lucked out for the most part and got a decently sized one. "I like aqua colors too. And against my brown fur my eyes really just POP out. It gives me away a little when I hunt, though. I normally blend, but if something sees my blue eyes and doesn't mistake it for a flower, I lose the hunt. Not most other creatures are that smart, though."

"Perfect, eh? I don't know if I'm perfect, but I'm probably pretty darn close," he said with a cackle lingering under his words. Yeah, go buu, blow that big ol' noggin of his up even more. "I am pretty strong though, which is good. I guess I'm going to need it if I'm supposed to fight off all these big bad things that Bibi doesn't want in the pride." Of course, being that he was kind, he made it seem like the bad things would be intruders or monsters. It wasn't his place to tell her that her real half-brother, Damu, the current king, was crazy - or that his younger uncle (still her nephew) was likely going to be just as bad or worse. He wanted her to have the innocent view on the world as long as she could.
"Now, that all depends on how old they are. If they're young adults, then they really don't care about you. The older ones probably wouldn't mind, but by the time they're old enough to be flattered, they're really not the sort of lioness for me," he said with a little laugh in his words, shaking his head. Yeah, he knew a lot about the ladies apparently. Perhaps he had spent a good deal of time trying to learn about them? Still, there was no way any lion was ever going to figure females out completely; he just did what he could.
"I do pretty good at hunting, especially in the middle of summer when the grass is all wheat-colored," he said with a nod, flicking his tail back and forth idly as he thought about it. However, thinking about it made his stomach give a rather loud, angry lurch and he was once again reminded about what Buu had interrupted him doing. With a little purr, he pushed his body back to his paws and gave his fur a good shake.
"I need to go get on with my hunt, Buu," he said, leaning over to give her a good nuzzle, "I'll see you later, ok? I'll tell you about all the golden lions in the pridelands or the maybe the big dark rogues out in the southlands, yeah?" He gave a little laugh, dipped his head, and turned to start heading off in the direction he had originally intended before his beloved sister intercepted him.

"And you're getting closer every day, especially when you're subjected to the perfectness of all the Kusini." Buu really had to stop complimenting Njozi, because at some point surely his ego was going to leak out of his head. It seemed as if she was making up for lost time, the time Njozi had spent travelling and training, and the time Buu had spent growing up into the young adult that she was now. They had missed a childhood together, playing in puddles and with their sisters and brothers. It almost seemed like... too much to have missed out on. "I'm sure you'll keep out all the big bad things from this pride." She didn't ask Njozi what he needed to protect the pride from. It was none of her business, and the thought of asking actually hadn't even entered her head. Buu knew her brother was doing a good thing, and she did not need to know the specifics to praise him for it.
She giggled, blue eyes seeming to lighten up with her enjoyment of his comment. "Maybe now that you're back home you'll find a nice girl who's closer to your age." It was, in her own way, a form of bribery to get him to stay. A part of her feared that he would get up and leave again. If he left again... it was possible he wouldn't come back, like how it seemed to be with Rengo. Buu was ready to do a lot to keep her brother at home, and tempting him with the idea of females his age... just seemed like a good thing to do, especially if he was interested in females.
"I was beginning to think that males couldn't hunt. I guess that if I believe you that I'm proved wrong, and you guys really can hunt and catch a meal." As her brother's stomach growled, she slowly raised an eyebrow, and finally laughed good-naturedly. She knew that she had interrupted him while he was on the search for food, but she couldn't spend another moment not seeing his cheerful red eyes and newly fanci-fied black mane. She stood up, nuzzling her cheek back against her brother's, purring ever so softly her happiness that he was here with her. "I'm sorry for disrupting your hunt. I'll be waiting for you to tell me all the stories about your travels, and all the lions you've met before." Smiling, she turned in the other direction, leaving her brother to continue on with his hunt. She'd go home and see her father for a little while, and maybe go for a walk with her sister.
