Perhaps a smaller kind of creature? What's the word? Humanoid?

Okay. A smaller, humanoid creature that didn't wish to pick a side between the Rade and Masque so they're civilization is built under the ground? Or under the water?

Oohhh an Under water race, would be great. *thinks about Sani* I would love to help with any of these ideas, including a new colony since I missed out on so much of the early stuff in the main RP.

So if we did develope an underwater race, I think their should be types, like in Changeling (WoD) you have Pooka's, Saloohah (sp), Elves, Satyr's. The Good, the bad, and the Neutral.

It would be great if we started work on a new colony we could discover them in a lake, because having one established colony the big thing we would look for in a new location would be a water source.

What if one of the kids, or one of us were kidnapped while swimming, or Fishing? That would introduce them, without giving them a flakey intro.

Anyone want to take any of these ideas and run with it? Submit details and work out a general storyline involved?

I haven't had a lot of free time recently, but yeah, I would love to take on a New Colony, its not like Sani has any real friends yet, so uprooting her would be no biggy. Though I would like it if Uta and Satehl were involved... and they're aren't that many of us here.. so maybe like 3 or 4 as a scouting group?

So, do we (most of us, anyways) agree with and like the underwater race idea?

Mrr... I think we should really begin to plot this out and everything. ^^ The first places to start would be the basic information about them.

So;

~Are they large like the Rade? Or smaller than the Masques?
~What should we call them?
~Can they simply breathe underwater ordo they havesome sort of... specail technique or... wet-suit thing-ama-jig?
~If they do breathe underwater; do they live inside buildings that have pumps for oxygen or do they just 'live' under the water?
~Are they fish-like? (Fins, gills, etc...)
~What's their general physical appearance? Humanoid? Talking dolphin?

Since the Rade were still around, it stands to reason that another intelligent but likely non humanoid race lives as well.

~I would say they could be about the same size, smallerish.

~They would need to have some sort of apparatus to allow for breathing underwater
~I would say vagely humanoidish, but not an exact humanoid. Perhaps like the creature from the black lagoonish looking, but not scary or monsterish. Or maybe scary and monsterish XD *snicker* Im sooo helpful.
I'd say scales or mucusy, gills, webbed appendages/fins.

~ smaller, I mean they have to travel through rivers and some lakes, maybe underground tunnels?

~ partially humanoid. I say they are flowy like seaweed or a beata (siamese fighting fish). If they have gills then they wouldn't need the breathing devices... probably scaley and deffinately webbed appendages and fins.

Sound travels farther in water, so what if they have their own way of speaking when they're in the water? Similar to whales and dolphins? Soundwaves and everything, but they can speak 'human' as well.

In my opinion I agree with Chae for the basics. And I think all of us want something smaller. So thats decided. I REALLY like Kata's idea about them resembling Beta's *Imagines the art*

~ Smaller than the Masques, I would say petite graceful creatures. no taller than arround 3 feet. I think that stat wise they should be based on children arround age nine. Really inventive and curious.
~What should we call them? I'll get back to you on that.
~Can they simply breath under water? Now I know I'm going against the consensus, but I think they should have gills and standard lungs, like Kevin Costner in Water World.
~If they do breathe underwater... I think they should live in maze networks of Coral, with chambers, all interconnected, however I think also that it should be an oxygen evironment inside. *wonders if she's contradicting herself*.
~Are they fish-like? I think they should be human like except for webbed hands, feet, and gills. maybe a very few resemble mer-people. *After thought* I really like the idea of them resembling Beta's. Maybe in just as wide a variety of colors as Beta's? *ponders*.

Names - I agree we should vote, I have 3 idea's.

1) Marae - A play on the Latin word for Sea, "Mare"
2) Nereus - From the name for the Greek Sea God.
3) Lethans - From the Greek Underworld Water Nymph "Lethe".

It should really be set as a Poll though, so we can be sure that everyone gets a say.

I like the idea of an a-sexual race *nods* As for leader, how about a King and Queen... But as a spin make their "Council/Cabnit" an elected group. How does that sound?

Should the Nurei be more feminine or masculine in appearance? My vote is for masculine.

And each of us can come up with a council member and create his personality? Those of us that have the time, I mean. So, depending on whoever has the time, the council could have as many as... three-five members?

I totally agree, though on the which gender they most resemble I think masculine, but I think that say 1 in every 6 is obviously androngynous in apperance. Just for variety.

What should the council members positions be? Should they all have an equal status or... is there a main leader?

Oh! They should be Elders. Like REALLY old and wise with long beards. And the the main Elder should be femine and masculine looking.

*Laughs* yeah! We'll say a council of advisors, and say a Court of Elders, like checks and balances?

I think for the council positions though... *ponders* There should be Law/Politics and Medicine/Science....

What if they were banished from the Masquerade Court *Insert Nika/Sound* because of a lesser assansination of like a General or Duke, and the reason they weren't affected by Zahar's curse, is because the settled UNDER water.

Well we don't need to change it, nobody knows how long the Masquerade Kingdom has been dormant and in Ruins. Centuries is a long time, they could have already been a different race, like the Rade. And evolved differently. If I'm making sense....

I think it would be harder for the elementals and the cultural, but I can see the dracos and the stylized get along quite well.

...It might be worth it to try and come up with a new series. XD I haven't the faintest idea, though.

Your right.... all you really need is 3 different series to make it work right? You eliminate elemental. Toss out cultural.

That's a really hard one. *thinks*

Dracos are based off of stones.
Stylized are based off of book/movie genres.
Culturals are, well, basically scholars of one specific cultures.
Elementals are based off of elements.

What could disciplines be based off of? A type of defense? Like the Drunken Monkey or something? XD

Elementals could be replaced by runes. Or, something that has a bit to do with water. The Fountain of Youth, for example. Which points in the direction of Alchemy. They could be things like copper, gold, silver, zinc, etc...

Though, that sounds more like a replacement for Dracos. XD

It doesn't matter what its used for Runes are a brilliant idea. I'm totally keen on periodic table elements replacing metaphysical elements.

Disciplines could be based off almost anything. Martial Arts, Yoga, Acrobatics. My guess would be a Physical Training....

The disciplines are pretty cool. 8D *snickers* Mermaid-like creatures would be swell at doing acrobatics. In the water.

Planets would be a really cool theme, as well. Appearance would be decided by the planet's appearance, obviously, and personality/power wise we could look at the general agreement different cultures have made throughout history regarding Gods and Goddesses that ruled the specific planet?

Or, we could go western astrology.

Aquarius, for example, is ruled by Uranus. The 'Uranus' Nurei would then have a slightly Aquarian personality?

I don't know enough about runes to make any real suggestions for that. XD

Haha. We've come up with enough themes to leave the dracos, stylized and culturals in the air. XD

The Nurei would have;

Rune themes
Planet themes
Elemental themes (periodic table)

We could use also constellations. I have oodles of books on the Stars. Its my Dads ONLY hobby. call the series "Stellar" I know all about the myths.
