I've been having a lot of trouble getting a completely clear mind while meditating... Try as I might, I can't get whatever song it is that's currently in my head. Even if I do, another one takes its place.
Does anyone have any certain methods of getting songs out of their head? gonk

I have the same problem... I listen to the song constantly until I can't stand it... sometimes it takes like three days of constantly listening to it though..
Tips: get an ipod.
if that doesn't work.. break the ipod or sell it...

I would listen to my iPod (I even acquired sound-blocking headphones recently) but I don't have anything that would suit meditation... Would it be detrimental to meditation to listen to soft music? Nearly every tutorial suggest absolute silence an emptiness in your mind. This is the one I'm currently going off of: http://www.scns.com/earthen/other/seanachaidh/fundamentals.html

I don't know. On my old Pod, I had an hour long clip of a thunderstorm. Those thing always charge me up, so I found it helpful to focus.

Well I dont know how to stop it,but try lisenting to some Gregorian Chant.Monks used it to meditate back in the Medival Ages.Very calm and peacefull.Just use Limewire, but search for the old style stuff. The new age stuff is a bit too electronic.

"Ave Mundes Spes Maria", "Gloria in Excelsis Deo", "Pueri Hebraeorum", "Ave Maria, Dei Genitrix" and especially "Salve Sanctus Parens" are my favourite Gregorian Chants evar. They're also the only ones I have, since all the others I find have chimes or organs in the background, and for whatever reason, I think the music loses its magick if it's accompanied instead of a capella. If anyone has any more suggestions, I'd appreciate it. ...I'm done thread-hijacking. >.>

Personally, I almost Always have some song or another stuck in my head... I've sorta learned to just tune it out, like you can do with outside noise. It's still there, but it doesn't affect you as much.

My suggestion would be to find music that is entirely strings, or percussion.
I have a particular soft spot for "River Flows" by Yiruma. Just a piano on its own, a very peaceful (if melancholy) song... but only a few minutes long.
Maybe find a song played by your favorite instrument, with nothing else?
