Murasame rolled around in the grass outside of the den. A smile on his face as he giggled and rolled all at once, why had he not tried this sooner? Bright orange eyes peered around, no one seemed to be about, where was everyone? His ears fell back, he hated being alone, he liked being with someone else, being alone wasn't fun, where was everyone?

Now his mind was racing.

Kusanagi's ears pinned back as he yawned, the rows of small, white teeth glittering as he started towards the entrance of the den. He glanced around rather sleepily, his eyelids still half falling over his golden eyes. The moment he stepped out of the den however, he was hit by the bright rays of sunlight, and gave a small, involuntary shiver of delight at the warmth from the suns rays.

For a moment, he stood there in silence, his gaze fixed up at the sky, before he finished noticed movement in the corner of his eye. Startled, he whirled around quickly - too quickly, as the moment he recognized the figure to have merely been his brother, the brown cub had lost his footing, and tumbled face first into the grass.

"Ow." Flattening his ears, and hoping against all odds that his brother hadn't noticed his clumsiness, the cub scrambled back onto his feet, trying to get brush the evidence of dirt from the white of the fur on his chest and paws.

"Kusa?" Murasame questioned out loud, he had a habit of shortening all of his siblings names actually, so it wasn't a big surprise in his mind. He didn't notice the falling bit of his brown pelted brother, more so the sound of scrambling, and then that was when Murasame settled his eyes on him, watching him brush himself off. Tilting his head in confusion Murasame watched him and flicked his tail.

"Whatcha doin' Kusa? You wanna play?" he asked with bright orange hues glinting in the sunlight.

His brother had to want to play, didn't he?

The cub bit back a yelp of surprise as he was addressed, and hastily attempted to look casual. In his attempt to get rid of the dirt that powdered his fur, he succeeded in mussing up his fur, more so than actually getting rid of the dirt. Turning to look at Murasame, he lay down on the grass, his tail flicking lazily behind him.

"Hello, Murasame." He greeting, in an attempt to sound mature. The rather flat and formal tone seemed odd in Kusanagi's mouth, but he continued nevertheless. Raising both brows at the offer, the brown pelted cub moved to sit up straight, sticking his nose in the air.

"Don't be silly, Murasame. Playing is for children. I am far more mature than a mere cub." Says the one who looks, and is, a cub.

"hi" Murasame said again, tilting his head, raising a brow at his brother, why was he acting like this? They were still little! They could still act as silly as they wanted to but this was just..strange. "But, we're cubs, we're children, you're just as little as me!" Murasame said defensively, why didn't his own brother want to play with him, had he done something wrong?

Did he no like Murasame?

His ears fell back, did his brother hate him?

When his brother spoke, Kusanagi puffed up his chest in an attempt to look more impressive. "We may be cubs in body, but that doesn't mean we have to be cubs in mind and spirit." He informed Murasame, shifting a little. "Besides, I'd rather be an adult that a cub." He added. Adults were almost always looked up to by younger lions, but cubs...Well, not much respect there. Or at least, Kusanagi didn't think so.

The brown cub lowered his head enough to catch a glimspe of his brother, and noted that his ears had pinned back. Instantly, a little guilt seeped through him at the sight of his brother. To be honest, though he wouldn't admit it, he did love all his siblings and parents, though it might have been hard to tell under the attempt-at-mature mask he wore ever so often.

Hesitantly, Kusanagi pawed at his brother. "Er, Mura? ..." He paused, and then sighed loudly. "I guess if you really want to play..."

Murasame tilted his head again at his brothers words, but being a cub was fun! They had plenty of time to be adults on the future, why not relish in the fun now? They could be smart and old later, just being a cub was fun! His ears perked forward as his brother pawed at him, and he felt guilty for making his brother have his ears fall back, he didn't like it if he made others sad.

He wanted to be nice, like dad.

"Yes, can we? We can do a adult game like...we can try to hunt Kusa!" yes hunting, he hadn't hunted before really.

For some reason, despite the fact he wasn't the oldest of his siblings, Kusanagi always did strive to be mature. Being looked up to was something he wanted to achieve, and it usually looked as if he wanted to grow up faster. He was rather small compared to some of his other siblings though, it seemed. Perhaps that's why he always tried to seem older, and stand out.

Whatever the reason, this was probably his first time playing, and with Murasame. If there was one thing Kusanagi knew, it was that if it made his sibling happy, he might as well do it.

At the suggestion however, he found his golden eyes lighting up. "Hunting?" Kusanagi repeated, his tail waving behind him. After a moment, a grin spread it's way across his muzzle, and his ears pricked with with anticipation. "Sounds like fun!"

"hunting it is then!" Murasame exclaimed, beaming her puffed his tiny chest out playfully, gave a smile to his brother and seemed to prance in a circle, and then crouch down, giving off a tiny growl noise, he still couldn't roar just yet.

"What should we go hunt Kusa?" he asked, eyes gleaming with anticipation, "It has to be something our size since thats what the older lions do, find something their size or smaller, what should we hunt Kusa, huh?"

Kusanagi's tail continued to wave, and he found himself giving his brother a grin in response to his smile. Boucing back, he glanced around, sticking his rump in the air as if he were about to pounce.

At Murasame's question, the lion cub cocked his head to the side thoughtfully for a moment. "Whatever we can find, that's not too big. Maybe a rabbit or mouse or something." Of course, he wasn't exactly sure if there were many, if any, around these parts. "And whatever we find, we can't kill 'em for real, of course." He was sure Murasame wouldn't have tried in the first place, but it was always good to mention it.

As he spoke, a butterfly fluttered behind Kusanagi's head, swiftly flying about. Oblivious to this, the brown cub continued to frown thoughtfully.

Murasame stalked around in circles, as if trying to perfect the placement of his paws upon the soil, he let his paws feel the earth beneath him, how it stayed still even as he moved, a grin was on his face, tail flicking behind him in anticipation.

He was ready for action...

Brilliant orange hues fixated themselves on a butterfly that was so near to Kusa, that it could land on Murasame's brother, so close...why wasn't Kusa hunting it! "Kusa..." he said in a whisper, crouching down, facing his brother, one might believe that Murasame was going to pounce upon his brother...though Murasame was just trying to get his brother to peer at the floating butterfly.

Still lost in thought, the cub didn't notice his brother's motions, or the butterfly. What could they hunt, what could they hunt...? Well, maybe a bug or something. Wonder if there were any flying bugs around here? Maybe a dragonfly? Or a butterfly?

Broken out of his thoughts by his brother's whisper, Kusanagi blinked in surprise, before glancing at his brother quizzically. Seeing his brother facing him, and crouched down, Kusanagi laid his ears back. "No, don't hunt -me-!" He said in alarm, taking a few steps back. As he did so, the butterfly behind him fluttered up, perching on the brown cub's nose the minute he had stilled.

Staring crossed eyed at the insect, Kusanagi mentally sighed. Oh. That's what his brother had been after.

Murasame gave out a soft giggle and flicked his ears as his brother thought that he was going to hunt him. How could he hunt Kusa? He was his brother that he loved and looked up to, his family was Murasame's life, and nothing would ever change that.

Stopping and staring as the butterfly perched on Kusanagi's nose, Murasame rolled onto his side and stifled a laugh by putting his paws over his nose and mouth. "Come on Kusa, get it!" he encouraged, Murasame would try, but he didn't want to crash into his brown pelted brother.

How ridiculous of him to have assumed that it was he, Murasame had been after. His good natured brother wasn't one to try hunting a sibling for fun, that was for sure. Giving a little shake of his head at his own silliness, Kusanagi offer his brother a small grin of sorts, before turning his attention back to the butterfly.

Cheered on by his brother, Kusanagi slowly lowered himself towards the ground, watching teh butterfly carefully. Then, once his nose was just above the ground, he quickly rose a paw, pinning the insect to the ground. The sub's paw was pressed lightly against the butterfly's wing, in a careful attempt to the crush it.

"Yay!" He chirped, victorious and in a not very Kusanagi like manner.

Murasame laughed softly to himself, then ducked down as his brother did, he would wait and watch, he didn't want to accidentally squish the butterfly like he had mistakingly did when his friend Ruffian was trying to teach him how to pounce.

Poor little keeled hopper bug.

"You did it!" Murasame said hopping forward, scurrying to his brothers side to see hte captured butterfly, "Be careful don't hurt it!"
