Murasame had finally outrun his siblings and parents, his brilliant orange hues darted around the grass as he pranced through it, almost hopping like those skinny horned creatures he could see in the distance. He was on his own for once, without a sibling in tow.
A new adventure!
"R-rawrlk," he exclaimed at a hopper bug he came across as he emerged from the tall grasses, several meters from the water hole, he wandered too far, he wasn't sure how he'd get back later but...that was later! His roar was still bad, how could he perfect it? Ears dropping back he tried again, the same growl-squeak emerging.
Why was it so hard?
Pawing at the ground he shuffled his paws in agitation. Why couldn't he roar?

Ruffian had wandered closer to where the normal mass of the pride members lived, trying to get a little more used to interacting with the other members of the pride. It would be good for her, especially now that she had a full fledged mate on her side. That word still felt strange, foreign, but she was getting used to it.
Her ears perked up as she heard the squeaking of something. What was it? She trotted a bit forward just to notice a cub. What was such a tiny cub doing out on it's own? She wondered if the parents just left it, or if it just wandered off on it's own. Regardless, it shouldn't be by itself....

"R-roalkle!" he said again, one last attempt at the hopper bug before it went on its way, Murasame's ears stayed back, pinned against his head as he pawed at it with his tiny paws before it got away. He was bad at hunting too, he couldn't even roar! Standing up he wriggled himself, and pawed at the brow of his head where his daddy had a mane..how come he didn't have a mane yet? Life was already so confusing!
Hearing a sound, almost like paw steps, Murasame's eyes shot up, "Mommy?" he said almost silently, standing up and venturing forward he peered up at a rather tall, black figure...that was NOT his mommy.
"H-hi," he said, peering up at her with big bright orange eyes, she was nice...wasn't she?

Hah, and she had managed to scare it, as well. She stood where she was, not getting any closer, else the cub might bolt. And she did not feel like chasing a cub just to dump it back on its parents.
"Hi there," she said quietly, doing her best to not scare it. How do you not scare a cub? "Are you okay?" She hoped she didn't seem like some creepy scary adult, though her solid black colour might not help, not in a pride of many brightly coloured folk.

"H-hi," he said again, peering up at her still, she was so tall! She kind of looked like mommy but, was all black, did she and mommy know each other? He wasn't really sure, maybe they were friends! He shook his head at the other question through, a frown coming across his face as he took a few steps towards her, and curled up by one of her front paws.
"I can't roar..." he said shyly, stupidly he thought as well. He felt ashamed that he couldn't roar, what would his mom and dad think?

"You can't roar?" she asked, not surprised but humored that this little cub wanted to roar so badly, so young. "Aren't you a little young for that?" she questioned, teasingly. She sat herself down, backing up one more step before that, to make sure that she didn't look quite so huge. She wasn't really HUGE, but she certainly could look big to a little cub.
"What's your name little one?" Maybe with a name she would get a hint at who this one belonged to, parent-wise anyway. That way, maybe once he was tired, she could take him home and make sure that everything was alright. She was sure it was, but he sure was kinda small to be out here all by himself, not matter how close he was to Pride Rock.

"But-but...I want to roar, I want to be able to roar like daddy," Murasame said with a nod, seeing her take a step back he wriggled forward to curl by her leg again, he didn't want to be so far away from someone who was being nice to him...he had never really been...alone like this before. Curling his tail around him he put a paw on her paw, testing the difference, she was older then him, just like mommy, but she had a black pelt, like him and daddy.
"Murasame," he said shyly, laying his head on his paw and hers, "I wanna roar..." he said with a sniffle, curling himself about her leg.

Ruffian's smile finally broke out on her face as she looked down on him. Ahaha, cubs were so funny. "But you're so little! You've got to wait until you get bigger to be able to roar just like your Dad. Buuut," she started, teasing him playfully again.
"You can learn how to hunt! You gotta learn to pounce so you can out pounce your sibilings." She always loved to play pounce with her brother, so she always had the pleasure of teaching only the best in pouncing.

"Okies, I'll wait," he said softly a disappointed tone in his voice, he wanted to roar! He wriggled where he was sitting and pawed at her paw lightly, he giggled too, her paws were like his only bigger, he wondered if his paws would get that big. "Pouncing?" he asked, curiosity in his eyes as he looked up and tilted his head to the side.
That sounded neat.
Hmmm.
"Will you teach me Miss...Miss-?" he wasn't sure what her name was, oh no, would she turn away because he didn't know her name?

"Ruffian," she picked up where he left off.
"Alright, now the first thing you gotta do is..." she pulled herself on her feet just to lie herself on the ground. Or, well, it looked like she was lying on the ground, but she was really just hovering over it. "You gotta get reeeally low to the ground, so you can't be seen. Most important thing. You gotta stay as quiet as you can, too."
She gave him a moment to mimic her before she carried on.

Murasame wore an ear to ear grin and said, "Ruffian," after she had like an echo. He watched her move, and moved himself, standing up then laying down on air, though his back end was slightly up farther then where his head was, peering back at himself he finally straightened himself out and turned his head back to hers and smiled.
He flicked his tail and didn't utter a word, though his eyes held the silent question, "like this?".

Ruffian nodded. "Yes. Now, though, you gotta look for your prey. DO you see anything around?"
She had no idea what the cub would like, some cubs seemed to like bugs, others hated them. She kept an eye on him, more so that he wouldn't pick so mething dangerous to try and pounce on, and also that he wouldn't get himself hurt. Silly cubs always had a knack for that.

Murasame peeked around a bit, and couldn't see any butterflies, usually he followed butterflies around, pawed at them with no intent on touching them because they looked too pretty. His eyes scanned the area, and he saw a tiny movement, it was the hopper bug that got away from him when he failed at roaring.
Could he get it this time?
Slowly he inched towards it, staying low, trying to be quiet...he wondered if he could get it.

Ruffian watched him carefully, her brown eyes just checking on his form. It wouldn't do any good to tell him what he was doing right right at that moment, but she whispered just a few things to him.
"Keep low, quiet, and only pounce when you're really close." She kept quiet after that, intent on watching him catch his little grasshopper that he obviously had in sight with those orange eyes of his.
She herslef let her body relax, fully lying on the ground now. Keeping your muscles tense for so long wasn't an easy walk in the park. She hoped he did well, but didn't dare move, just in case.

Murasame nodded and wriggled his bottom a bit, as if readying himself for the attack...er, pounce. Inching forward he watched the hopper bug, it was hopping just...sitting there. This was too easy he figured, so he remembered what Ruffian told him and inched forward, slowly still, trying to keep focused.
The hopper bug moved a bit, turning, almost to face Mura, and he ducked down, as if he could hide himself with no cover what so ever...but he didn't know that, he was still too young to realize.
One...two....three..
"Gotcha!" he exclaimed as he pounced forward, making a low purr-growl-snarl noise as he did so, landing with his paws outstretched, he felt himself victorius!...
Then he also felt something on his paw.
Raising his right paw he peered at it, tears forming in his bright eyes, almost ready to fall, a frown on hi little face, he kept his paw raised, one of the legs of the hopper bug twitching, then not moving...tears escaped his eyes, "I keeeeled it!."
