I left the History Channel on and have been half-listening to a documentary about the wars in Sierra Leone, Africa. Children were pressed into sex slavery and soldiery, had drugs and alcohol forced upon them to make them mean, had to shoot people they knew to make them meaner, .... I would like to wring the necks of the teachers that taught us about the Triangle Shirtwaist factory and slave trade in America and never uttered a peep about what was going on in Africa. The horror and violence overseas is current. What my teachers talked about was old news and, frankly, less important. They only wanted to force guilt into our little heads.
I hate (some) teachers!! I hate that they kiss the toes of black activism and keep mum about African history and current events. I hate that they talk about slavery as if it were a white-only crime. I hate their indoctrination and their smug self-righteousness. They are a hateful, hateful group.

Also not to mention the diamond mines. Men work long hot hours in the sun to try and get the diamonds. Hoping for the big one. They live in slave like conditions. Even when some people try and help it doesn't do much if any good. Most I don't think even know what the diamonds are for.
As far as the teachers when i was in 12th grade english we did read a short story about the African slave trade and some of how much Africans them selves played a part. But for the most part it's really isn't discussed and it should be. He should talk more about what is going on now.
