Long story slightly shorter. I was talking to this guy I work with. I work at a western theme park and had gotten kicked by a horse a couple of days ago. The guy said, "You haven't gotten kicked again, have you? I don't want a horse to damage my property." I responded with "What!?" He said it again and I gave the same response. Finally he said, "I'm not going to say it again or I'll get slapped." I was just so confused and in shock to say anything. Truthfully I had a crush on him but I know that he has a girlfriend. But I don't know what he meant by "property". How was I supposed to respond to his comment? Should I confront him? Women deserve enough respect not to be called property so I thought I'd post this here and see what other people think.

i would have either slapped him the first time he said and then walked away and never talked to him again or been a smart allic likeoogie_boogie888 would have. or been like Mina Mormon.

I was just too much in shock to do anything, and I'm still trying to understand what it means.

*raises hand* He might have been joking. I wouldn't know, since I have no idea what your relationship is, but I often act like a jackass to be funny. My friends (about half of which are girls) know I'm just screwing around, so all is well. But like I said, I have no insight into this particular situation.

I was there, yet I have no insight. I'm confused but no good at confrontations.

My take on the situation: He was flirting. His flirting was in bad taste, but he probably has no idea that he was being a little offensive. If you like him then ok, just expect the occasional lapse in manners from time to time. It sounds like he's probably a decent guy who simply never learned how to treat a girl.

I agree with Torch here. I don't know how well the two of you know eachother, and I don't know him at all, but I would be willing to bet that he was just trying to flirt.

This raises the question: Is it fair to expect courtesy from men who never learned it, but have good intentions?
