Soooo what do you guys think of Gwen Stefani's "harajuku girls"? I really don't like them represent the whole group of harajuku girls. Every time I tell people that my style is very harajuku girl, they go, "Oo, like Gwen Stefani!!" It's kinda like rappers representing all black people. Not every black person acts like that. Most, but not all. I should know, I'm one of them who don't. But yeah, I just want to know what you think.

I think they are pretty cool. But I just hope alot of people don't automatically assume that's what all the girls in harajuku look like.

I think they're cool, personally I didn't even know they were called her 'harajaku girls' but I suppose if I was associated with them I'd just explain that they don't represent all Harajaku girls.

Their style is very cute, indeed, but I guess not quite Harajuku in my mind. Harajuku is when you buy a $500 dollar designer jacket, rip it up and add some of your favorite fabric, and sew it into a dress. To me, Harajuku isn't so much a style as it is sort of a state of mind where you yourself are just as in-control as the designer. Then again, knowing Gwen, maybe they are. 3nodding

i think it's a great way to expose people to the idea and kinda put it in the 'norm', but most of the fashion action happens in shinjuku and yoyogi park, doesn't it?

They are cute but honestly I have to question her treatment of them. She obviously is the one who dresses them and there was one interview that made me fume a bit. It was where they were interviewing her. Then the interviewer wanted to interview one of them and Gwen said they couldn't. Okay that would be fine and all because they may not know English very good but then she commented they were part of her imagination or something? What? Gwen I love her music, her style but I don't like her too much. I know those girls are getting paid good, are good friends of hers but honestly she treats them like her belongings sometimes. neutral

Gwen makes them BOW ON THEIR KNEES (as in: I'm not worthy). And actually, all the girls know english. and quite well, since one of them actually lived in new york. She picked them up somewhere, i guess. Gwen makes them only talk in japanese..
Wikipedia has the quotes, and other info to support me...
So Gwen has made me mad. I thought she was shining a light on Japan, but she turned those strong girls into geisha, who aren't selling themselves to men for their well-being, but are letting Gwen do what she wants so they can make a living.
Its wrong.

I hated Gewn Stefani ever since she made her L.A.M.B. line and make the harajuku girls like that, I officialy dub her in my blacklist. though she has "nice" clothes and live the "nice" life, it doesn't do and cover up much for what she did to the 4 girls.
I read the wiki article, you are right...she did make them do an "I'm not worthy" pose-thing. Sigh...people today....

I am getting tired of people thinking that Gwen Stefani is a b***h basing on things they read on wikipedia stare . The Harajuku girls are hiphop dancers before everything. And honestly, if they were treated to badly, I don't think they would have still been with Gwen, no? She's an artist, it's all about the show 3nodding ! I you want interviews with them, here are some: LoveAngelMusicBaby

Well, uh, let's see. She labels them. She gives them names. She won't give them freedom. And...they destroyed america's view of Harajuku. Makes me sick.
