Due to a very busy schedule I have not had the chance to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yet. I am excited to say that tonight I am finally going to dive into the book! I wanted to see what you though of the book (no spoilers please)? I know a few of my friends said it was good but I also know a few people who hated it. How would you compare it to the other Harry Potter books? I was also wondering what your favorite Harry Potter book is?

Let's seeeee...

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.
So I'll say 6/10.

I absolutely loved it. <3 It was definitely very sad... so be ready to see a lot of characters dying.

I wish the epilogue was longer too, but Rowling is going to write that encyclopedia, which is said to cover what characters do in detail.

I loved it! I'd have to say it's my second favorite (a REALLY close second) to OotP. It was extremely well writen (the first book in five years to make me tear up). The story was a giant bloodbath, but we knew that was coming already.

The epilogue was good as a scene, but it didn't really explain everything. Of course, if she'd tried to stuff all the info we wanted into there it wouldn't have read very well. I think the encyclopedia is a good solution for this; it just means we'll have to wait a little longer than we thought.

i loved it. id say 9/10
i burst out crying a few times, but thats a good thing that a book can get that much emotion.

i would have liked it to be longer, and i would have liked a certains persons death to have been...something more. i donno, choking didnt do it for me. (doesnt quite count as a spoiler, does it?)

and there was only one big thing i was mad about, but there had to be something, right?

ohh, and i would have liked to find out who a couple people ended up marrying and so on, but you cant really expect those answers.

I found it long-winded and filled with excess.

There was so much time spent on pointless meandering (several hundred pages spent casting protective cantrips) that it detracted from the book, and, alas, the ending was a bit disappointing. Without going into too much detail, so as to avoid spoilers, the fact the grand and decisive duel was something like 2 pages was a bit of a let down... 7 novel build up spanning however many thousands of pages and then POOF over right away.

My biggest complaint was that it really did remind me of all the HBO shows I've ever watched... "Because we can, we do!" By the end it became less about how and why the characters kicked the bucket, and more about making a kill-count list to rack up points. There was really only one death that seemed to have much emotional impact in the story.

So yeah... Book won't be getting a high score from me. At least they managed to avoid using the word snog until the second to last page (at which point they used it 5 or 6 times... 0_o)
