I need to know what happens after the anime ends! I've checked Wiki, and I know Mariko tears Lucy to spreads, leaving her to beg Kouta to kill her. Then, Mayu was almost "hurt" again, there's more plot with Nana and Kurama, and there's a character named 28. Could someone please go into detail on what happened after the anime? I'm willing to pay a thousand gold to anyone who can porvide a literal walk though on what happens next.

You've got it wrong. Mariko knows she's going to die, since Lucy cut off both of her legs and she tells her dad that she loves him and all that and then she grabs Lucy's ankles and blows up, blowing both of Lucy's horns off. Dr. Kurama then states that Lucy has officially died and her split personality is the only thing alive. Then Nana tells Kurama if Lucy ever comes back she'll be the one to kill her. Everything is fine and all until the unknown man comes and attempts to rape Mayu and hurts Nana badly, Bando comes in and helps them out. Then Bando sees Nyu and doesn't know about the horns and all. I can't remember either him or someone else fires at them. When the manga shows them again, the bullets never hit and Lucy has come back. She leaves Kouta and them and goes after Bando, where they fight it out and you find out Lucy if she concentrates hard enough can block that .50 caliber anti-tank rifle bullet. Then Bando blinds Lucy temporarily and the unknown guy comes back and tells Lucy he'll be her eyes, in reply she tears his head off and throws it at Bando. Catching him off guard she approached and puts the vector to his forhead and tells him pretty much goodbye. That's how chapter 76 ends, but on wiki it says she beheads him on the spot. I have personally seen some of the last scenes of Elfen Lied manga on photobucket by mere accident. It does show Lucy torn to shreds and you can easily see her rib cage and she hands Kouta the gun with a vector. As he's about to end her life he's remembering the Nyu side of her. I couldn't find any other panels of this, but I'm guessing he ends her life, since she is so messed up. Once I look more into it and find out any more info, I'll post it. All I know is, it wasn't Mariko who helps Lucy to her demise, I'm think it was Anna, if you don't know who that is read the manga online or look it up on wiki. Ok, I'm going to look more into it. Also remember anybody can update wiki and some info may be wrong.

Ok, I reread your post and here's more info you need to know, since I've read most of the manga, up to chapter 76 and know parts of what happens afterwards.

Kurama- doesn't die with Mariko she sacrifices herself to kill Lucy, when the bomb goes off in her, it blows of Lucy's horns as well, leaving only the Nyu personality 'permantly' active. That's sorta how they ended the anime and that's why you know it's mostly like Nyu at the door, instead of Lucy. That's also why they couldn't have a 2nd season, went way off the manga.

Mayu- she almost gets raped by a guy known as the unnamed man or unknown man, something like that, but Bando stops him.

Nana- she tries to protect Mayu and is hit with a metal bike with spikes in it, it's that unknown guy's weapon and leaves her unable to fight, because they can't concentrate when they're in pain, so no vectors.

Number 28- Number 28 is a diclionus who has a submissive personality, the unknown man with the help of the lab scientest, put her into this cage/tank thing that the unknown guy carries on his back. If I remember correctly 28's body has only the torso up, because they cut off anything below her waist-line. They attach something to her spin that causes her constant pain, so she can't attack with vectors. Right before the guy appears before Nana and Mayu, she has something about her mind and she sends a mental image to Nana showing her torn up, sorta like Lucy in the last manga panels, and she's asking Nana to destroy her. When the guy gets there he puts her down and gets mad and kicks the tank/cage 28 is in, killing her, ending her misery. The unknown man only laughs and stating 'Whoops, was a bit too rough and killed her."

There is more and I'll post more later, but that's practically it. Also Kurama goes crazy after Mariko dies and finds a dead body on the beach and goes on continiously saying it's Mariko and all that. Not even Nana could bring him back to his senses. As wiki states about this, he comes back to his senses right as the manga is ending.

Ok, I went into some research about how Elfen Lied fully ends in the manga. I know quite a few details, but not all of them.

- Lucy actually has three personalities, Nyu, Lucy, and Lucy2, who appears at the end. Lucy2 is shown in the anime as the DNA talking to her. Lucy2 kicks in and even attempts to kill Kouta.

- Lucy does die.

- Lucy's mom didn't abandon her on purpose. She was kidnapped by Kakuzawa, Lucy's mom got rid of her quickly, most likely in order to protect her. That's when the orphanage found her. But if her mom had kept her, Lucy would have grown up in a nicer childhood and wouldn't have killed like she did, nor would her DNA tell her to.

-Lucy does have a half-brother. After Lucy's mom abandoned her, Kakuzawa fathered the half-brother. It never truly mentions if it was a rape or not.

-Lucy probably had more siblings then just the half-brother. Also Lucy's mom was human, but Kakuzawa knew that all of her children would be diclonii who could reproduce.

At the end after Lucy's death, Kouta keeps his childhood promise. To visit her every year. He visits the puppy's grave. After about 10 years and still visiting, he and Yuka have a child, which they name Nyu, since both Yuka and him loved Nyu and felt extremely bad when she died. One year Nyu, their child, is digging around the grave and accidently finds the bottle Lucy buried there. Which she had put a jade stone, that Kouta had given her, manga only, and a letter. The letter also revealed her true name to be Kaede. Which is also the inn's name and means 'Maple'. She also states in her letter that the jade stone Kouta gave her would have been a nice stone used for a wedding ring, implying her true feelings for him, which she regretted she never got to tell him. Kouta then breaks down crying, which shows he's forgiven her for killing his dad and sister.

Also before I go any further, a vaccination was made for everyone who had the vector virus, and everyone in the world was vaccinated with it, so no more diclonius babies would be born.

Back, to where I was before. After Kouta breaks down crying, two twins come out from behind them. Then Nyu (2), says "Kaede, where have you been?", which right there startles Kouta, because Kaede was Lucy's name. The twins only reply, "We came here to visit a special friend."

When they say that it shocks Kouta and he's still crying, but now he's smiling and he starts to head towards them, that's how the manga ends. Also the two twins, had the bows Nyu use to have tied on their heads, in the same spot horns would be. So you know they are diclonii twins. Everyone may have been vaccinated, but don't forget Lucy had siblings that could spread it again and reproduce. Also it's mentioned that both twins had Lucy and Nyu's memory, including the twin Kaede, was sad and solemn like Lucy while the other one was happy and smiling like Nyu.

The reasoning behind the twins being able to get Nyu and Lucy's memory is, when Lucy2 is about to kill Kouta, two hologram like versions of Lucy and Nyu appear side-by-side and protect him. Also Kouta doesn't shoot Lucy to kill her, he is too upset to do that.

Also in the manga Kouta didn't forgive Lucy like he does in the anime. Not until the very end. There's more to this, but this pretty much explains it all. Look around for more details if you wish. I even have pictures. I'll post a raw picture of Lucy's half brother:
