The scorching summer heat was always unpleasant. Kewu'Chaka liked roaming around typically although when it got too hot and a bit unbearable he often hunkered down in the shade or waded in whatever water he could find in attempt to cool himself down. His bukly yet smooth mane of the brilliant, creamy yellow did get in the way at times but at least it did well to protect him from whatever haphazard mess he could find himself in and, well, it did make him look a bit tougher and bigger. Like all males, it suited him well and he rather liked it but there were days where he wished it wouldn't be so thick!
Well, a mane was a bitter-sweet adornment and it was best simply left alone.
'Chaka really couldn't complain.
He was lazily sprawled underneath the shade from a cluster of towering trees as his head laid upon his crossed forepwars. His white tipped tail swayed and flicked occasionally but, for the most part, the male was slumbering as his mind simply dabbled in thoughts.
Kweu had departed from his brother, Ayato two moons ago after discovering their mother with a strange, very strange and unfamiliar male. It could only be deciphered along the lines that both Tai and the male were close- a little too close. He had been angry for a few minutes after discovering them but, in all honesty, such hatred and fear wasn't necessary. Kweu'Chaka knew without a shadow of a doubt that his mother trusted the rather large male and the male seemed quite compassionate with her (or at least while he and his brother were observing them) and since the two of them and Tui had grown up and left, Tai was left alone but was occassionally greeted by her sons from time to time. But this unfamiliar male seemed someone who could keep their mom happy and protect her.
And that was what Kweu wanted for her.
To be happy and not alone.
His eyelids flickered as his blue orbs sleepily glanced around but closed once again. Stretching his forepaws slightly as he tucked his legs closer, Kweu gave a great yawn and nestled his head closer to his forepaws.
He needed to be awake and alert!
But it seemed that the day was dull and lacked any drive for excitement. How he hated to let a day slip away from him! But there was no one around and since he had meandered far from the Pridelands, well- he wasn't sure if there was anyone nearby or awake as it seemed desolate and a bit forlorn out where he was.
"Waste a day sleeping or get up?" He mumbled as he dare not open his eyes and be blinded by the sun.
"Sleep sounds good.."
If only he could find a better reason to stay awake.

-Oh the sun... that god forsaken sun! Isabis felt as if she were melting as she made her way through the savvannah grasses. Where was she headed, she wasn't quite sure, nor really cared. She was simply looking for someplace that would make a good resting spot for the night. And besides, right now the sun was the only thing on her mind.-
-Eyes and voice raising lightly in the thick air she lamented to herself.- "If only I still had my wings! Atleast then I'd be able to shade my back and my head from this dreadful heat."
-Picking up her step once more, the lioness began on again. She had a lifetimes experience of complaining and lamenting and so far.. none of it had helped any. So rather then stare at the tormenting sun, better to find some shade. She could always travel for a little while while the sun was falling.
Continuing on with a well practiced grace, her external aire seemingly undistressed by the sun, despite her true feelings, a smile touched her maw as a lingering butterfly fluttered about her, seemingly trying to catch the attention of the ones that rippled from the lioness' pelt.-
"Hello there friend.. come to join me for awhile? I will find shade for the both of us." -Eyes lifting once more, in search of some sort of shade Isabis noticed the grove of trees peeking through the distance. That would be the place.
Turning course, after a moment's check that her 'creation' was still following, she made her way as the trees drew nearer and nearer. She spotted the figure laying, but thought little of her saftey, simply sliding into the rustling grasses as she made her way, disspearing into the golden blades until it appeared that only butterflies seemed to be tossling the grasses side to side.-

creamy yellow ears flicked to the side as an off distance sound, something muffled- perhaps speech? Someone talking? Lazily drawing up his head slightly, his eyes fluttered as another great yawn caused his array of pearly whites to be unveiled while his tongue stuck out from his gaping maw. Exhaling through his nostrils as he closed his maw, Kweu glanced around and saw something moving in the distance. A newfound scent began to drift within the summer breeze as it seemed to catch hold of his nose.
It was a female.
Staring off towards her although his eyes were still drawing heavy, 'Chaka drew his head away as he glanced down to his paws.
"Okay....okay...sleep or meet someone new? Maybe she might be a-" he cut himself off and flattened his ears against his head. He knew what he was going to say; A goddess. From his mothers stories that she unceasingly told and filled his mind with (which he never objected to as he always loved hearing them) he had found his desire to actually meet one of the many gods and goddesses. His mother, Tai, had met two- two! He still had yet to meet one but the descriptions that were described with such flawless stature and appearance was forever engraved within his memory. Exhaling a soft breath, he nodded his head.
"There's no harm in introducing myself, right?" He commented to himself as he lumbered up to his paws and pivoted around.
If memory served him right, he could have sworn he heard the grass at least rustle and her meander this way. Kweu'Chaka bit his lower lip as his tail curiously swayed behind him. Walking beside the trees as he drifted through the grass, he looked for the lioness. "Uh, hello? Miss?" His voice was a bit low, soft with a soothing call with a bit of uncertainty.
Maybe he had imagined it all and she wasn't really there?
Padding forwards as his head hung slightly, Kweu stopped abruptly. There, no more than two feet away, seemed to be a mass of- of butterfiles in the grass? His brows knitted as he took one step closer as he was confused yet curious none the less and tilted his head. They were moving side to side? Since when did butterflies do that? What funny butterflies! Intaking a deep breath as he took another step, Kweu'Chaka lifted his right forepaw and slowly began to extend it towards the very peculiar butterflies.
This was certainly strange!
If only he could touch one...

-Her eyes were locked on the trees as they grew larger and larger, their shade streching out like an oasis before her. But before her paws could so much as touch the dimmed ground, her eyes and attention snapped to the figure that had made it's way towards her.
How he'd made such a distance without her notice was unknown to her... perhaps the heat was zapping her senses just as much as it was her energy and will to move. Luckily his voice had proceeded him and aleviated any worry with it's tone. So as blue eyes curiously watched his paw reach out, she refrained from doing anything undignified. It was funny almost. Had he not seen a girl before? Surely a full grown male would have seen plenty of females in his life...
It did not occur to her exactly how well she was hidden, and softly a young giggle bubbled through the heavy air.- "Now now.. Butterflies are a little delicate to be pawing at..."
-Before finally she slipped from the grasses, blue eyes searching the male curiously, taking in the pleasantly soft colors of his pelt.- "Hello Mister."

His paw inched closer, closer and closer still- just as he was about to try and 'touch' one of the very strange butterflies a giggle sounded followed by a voice which caught the male off guard. Jerking his head back as he stumbled and, with a lack of coordination, toppled over onto his back, Kweu'Chaka gave a small 'umph' and a moan as he closed his eyes and gritted his teeth.
Well, that was an embarrasment and a half.
Flopping over onto his stomach as he shook out his mane, Kewu'Chaka looked behind him towards the young lioness as she retreated from out of the grasses and came into view. A sheepish smile crossed his maw as he realized that the butterflies were a design upon her fur which, in all honesty, seemed strange and unusual, but 'Chaka found it to be beautiful-holding a mystery and heightened his curiosity. They looked so real! He had never seen a lioness with such a look that this one held. There seemed to be something- something special about her.
Staggering up to his paws as he turned around to face her, Kweu chuckled again as his ears flattened against his head.
"Ehehe, sorry about that. I could have sworn those butterflies were real- they're really pretty." Shaking his fur off a bit from the collected dirt and terra, Kewu smiled warmly and lowered his head with due respect as it was a chivalrous thing to do.
"I'm Kweu'Chaka. I'm from the Pridelands but, well, I guess you can say I just like venturing out wherever my paws take me." He gave a small shrug of his shoulders as his smile seemed to widen. Freedom; that sense of independence and defined individuality kept him meandering about farther and farther. It felt good and when he was alongside Ayato or Tui it was even better.
"Who might you be, miss?"

-She tried hard not to giggle with the tumble, and though she managed a grin gave way the soft amusement she took at his misfortune. He seemed nice despite being a little silly. His company would probably actually be awfully pleasant. It'd been so long since she last had company, well.. other than the butterflies.
At his statement, she moved her shoulder forward, watching as the markings rippled and seemed to move. Perhaps it wasn't so strange that the lioness was so confused. Her markings were a strange twist of fate. Perhaps anyone under the same pelt would have had similar ideas.- "They do don't they? It is so I can be like them I think. Gods almost always resemble their domains in some way."
-Visably quite delighted with his compliment, she only seemed to glow a little more as she finally retreated the few steps into the shade, seeming to beckon him to follow.- "Isabis. Something beautiful" -She mused softly over the meaning. Quite fitted if she did say so herself.
If only.. she could only imagine how beautiful she was before she was 'cursed'.- "I'm a wanderer myself. I drift and move with the wind. Butterflies have no real home other then the sky."

Kweu gave a small lopsided grin as he chuckled, unable to help himself from gazing once again at her spectacular coat that was adorned with such lively butterflies. "Yes- I thought they were real at first," he admitted again, ears falling slightly towards his skull as he thumped his tail upon the ground and swayed it a bit. "Well I definately see a resemblance between you and the butterflies. It's being so beautiful since butterflies are always very pretty and elusive like you."
To tell the truth the words seemed to slip off his tongue without a second thought and, for Kweu, he didn't dabble to heavily in sweet talk and in 'wooing' any females. He simply spoke his mind with upmost kindness and nodded his head with a sincere, warm smile. As she spoke her name, Kweu'Chaka couldn't help but smile a bit wider.
"Isabis, a beautiful name for a beautiful lioness. It's a pleasure to meet you by all means."
It was funny how the young male hadn't caught onto her words fromthe begining as the lioness had seemed to hint that she certainly was simply not just a lioness- oh, much more. But in time, her words would come back and he would seem to choke, perhaps suddenly realize what she had said before and then become excited and thrilled.
And the coutdown would begin.
His brows knitted slightly as his pursed his lips. "How can you be a wanderer? It's easy for any guy like myself but you- well, I guess if butterflies meander and fly all around then it's kinda the same thing with the Gods and Goddesses since they're always venturing everywhere. It kinda makes me wonder if they ever get lonely- like if they'd want someone else to tag along with them. Of course I wouldn't know, I've never met one before. I've only heard the stories that my mom use to tell me when I was a cub and I never get tired of them."
And then it hit him.
Kweu'Chaka blinked once, then twice, as he stood silent for several moments. His mind remembering and catching on that she had seemed to say something before hand, something much like an unintended hint that she was-
"I don't mean to sound intrusive or prying but...are you a Goddess?"
He bit his lower lip hoping that nothing would attack him or her anger for not knowing who she was would be turned against him as he knew that there were both pleasently sweet gods and goddesses and some you've plead that any individual would never encounter face to face.
"I'm sorry if I'm not familair with you!" He added quickly with remorse and not wanting anything to happen to him, well- he wasn't sure if anything would! "There are alot of you and...I've never met any of your noble blood or kind before."
He exhaled a soft breath as his ears rose slightly from off of his skull and he sat back upon his haunches. She seemed very sweet and kind and he could only hope that she wouldn't do anything to him or hurt him and he could only silently plead that he didn't offend her.
"I'm sorry if I offended you, Isabis," he added, unable to keep silent for that moment without apologizing to her.

"Sometimes they are actually.. well, not them. But you'd surprised how often they attract the real ones. More often the not unless the day is too hot or the night is too near there will be a few that keep me company." -It was the truth, though today it seemed, the ones that had tagged along for awhile had already departed, leaving nothing but the psuedo insects for his inspection.
The amusement level this male brought was so high that Isabis wondered to herself if there had even been a time since she'd lost her wings that she'd been this contented and amused. And even if she could smite him in some way for fashion, for the few strange insults, like a girl not being able to travel herself!, the compliments and unintentional charm of the male most certainly won her over. Butterflies acted with grace and beauty, not violence or vengence, but even if they.. or she on some occassions felt the need, it was not the case with this male.
Instead she watched, her smile and eyes growing as he made certain revalations, head nodding gently at certain points, as a purr of contentment rattled from her. Only when he finally quieted down did she finally speak, a soft giggle touching on her words.- "Aren't we the talkative sort now?"
"So let's see..." -Drawing forward she began to walk a slow and large circle around him, looking up at the air as if to try and remember all the things he'd asked or stated.-
"Yes... it gets quite lonely on occassion.." -Sincerity, mild sadness, but it was gone as soon as she switched questions.-
"Isabis, goddess of butterflies." -She hoped he would not ask to see her wings.. that was always an unpleasant subject.- "It doesn't surprise me you don't know me.. there are so many of us. War, Water, Earth, Love, have always been the more popular gods. Some of us get little recognition at all except for from our own creations."
-Her circle was subconciously beginning to shorten, bringing her closer and closer with each slow step, eyes finally settling once again on his own.- "You didn't offend, and thank you for your kind words. A girl always likes to hear them. It is smart to be weary of the gods however.. there are more then a few that are tricky.. cruel and vindictive."

If it wasn't for his mane and the brilliant, creamy yellow fur upon his cheeks the rush of pink flush would be more obvious as the male seemed to blush slightly. Kweu never was a 'womanizer' or was smooth and knew how to use his tongue to simply woo them and have them melt- rather he was a young adult who simply complimented others and tried to makes friends while, also, being an individual whose heart was courageous, held a deep love and sense of protection for his family while being mystified by the stories and legends his mother had always told him. As Isabis drew closer, Kweu'Chaka swallowed a bit and smiled warm with a nod of his head.
"Isabis," he repeated softly, "goddess of butterflies. It's a pleasure to meet you." It was simply amazing to actually meet a goddess and her mother had always advised her that, if he ever did, one was to show respect and honor to them for each god and goddess played a key role in everyday life. To this he smiled a bit wider and gave a small purr.
"Well they might be popular but isn't all credit due to each and every one, right? You're just as important as any other god or goddess- I mean, without you there wouldn't be butterflies and they help the plants." He gave a nod of his head as his ears flicked, tail swaying behind and rustling the tall grass. Butterflies were needed and everything in life had a purpose- it all toiled down to the great circle of life where each individual was neccessary and needed as everyone played a vital role. Kweu knew that but he only wished that others would realize such a simple concept.
Oh well, to each his own.
Brilliant cerulean orbs watched as the goddess steps drew closer towards him, her eyes settling upon him which caused the creamy yellow male to smile as his heart seemed to pound against his chest cavity. Once again, his fur helped mask the rush of pink that flooded his cheeks. This was a time where Kweu'Chaka wished he had better skills when it came to lionesses and goddesses. He couldn't help feeling like a babbling fool as his ears seemed to fold slightly back with embarrasment and the occassional sheepish grin.
His head lowered with due respect as he rose his eyes to level with her own. "I've been raised to kill people with kidness, not violence," he commented with a smile.
"When I was a cub my mother told me many stories of the gods and goddesses. She taught me well and I have to say that I'm glad that you're the first I've met, Isabis. After seeing you I'd have to think they must be as pretty....I mean, beautiful- wait, uh..."
well he had a good start but it seemed that Kweu's words and thoughts were getting the better of him as even his tongue couldn't think of the right word to say and simply spoke what he was currently thinking of her.
He choked slightly and bit his lower lip.
"I...I hope they are more like you."

-Finally she settled herself on the ground, curling her tail mildly about her as her eyes lifted to glance upward at the older male. Her smile was pleasant and genuine as she spoke.- "She sounds like a wonderful mother to me. I wish that I had had one myself. But you know.."
-Isabis did have a mother infact. One that had spoiled her lovingly long ago, but those memories had faded with time and delusion. And the lioness did not try to drag them upwards, so instead she lay forgotten. She like most gods was a child of the earth.
A mild purr rumbled with the clumsy compliment, and she puffed visably. Her delight was so great with this male. And luckily, she was too entranced to worry about when it might end.- "I could say the same about you, I think. You don't always meet people so pleasant on the ears."
-He was pleasant on the eyes too actually, but to tell an adult that.. well it seemed rather silly. Turning her eyes finally to the sky, she mused softly, hoping to listen to him longer. Even if all she could think of were silly drivel.- "You like to travel... so where is your favorite place Kweu'Chaka?"

"She is," Kweu replied with a low purr and a nod of his head. "She was more than I could have ever asked for- she taught me and my brothers, Udha and Zira everything." For a moment, the creamy yellow male tilted his head softly and rumbled with compassion as his brows knitted loosely and his eyes fell towards the 'goddess'.
"I'm sorry, Isabis. But I'm sure you can at least meet my mother- she'd be honored to meet another goddess and I'm sure the pride would welcome your visit as well."
It seemed logical; if she wanted to, perhaps, experience or feel what its like to have a mother then by all means she should come and meet Tai and the others and at least experience some motherly care and affection. There was so much to go around! Kweu smiled at the thought and perked his ears upwards- yes, somehow he would have to take her back to his mother, Tai, and let her experience what it was like to be loved and have a mother.
If he could blush brighter, it would seem that his fur was more pink than yellow upon his cheeks. At her compliment, Kweu'Chaka folded his ears back and gave an embarassed smile- not quite skilled on how to handle such a compliment given to him.
"Well, thank you. It seems as if its my lucky day- I mean, I don't run into any gods or goddesses that often...its- its just my lucky day."
Smooth.
Real smooth- or the lack of any form of a smooth reply.
Oh well.
He was learning.
Following her as he too turned his attention towards the sky, the young adult mused. "Well," he began as he glanced towards her, "anywhere really. I guess I just let my paws take me wherever or tag along with my brothers. Oh! But I do have a small place that I call my own; its a small watering hole where there's plenty of shade and far enough from others. I should take you there sometime."
Pursing his lips slightly as he gave a small nod of his head, he looked again towards her.
"So Isabis, where is your favorite place?"

"I think I would like that sometime." -She stated matter of factly, for it was the truth. So often was she lonely, traveling by herself. Being taunted and disbelieved by some, dismissed by others because of her inabilities. But his suggestion sounded absolutely wonderful. Not only would she get to see him again, but she'd get to meet someone so highly spoken about as well.
Certainly his mother would believe her too. Perhaps they could have a pleasant day.. or maybe even two? Depending on how far away the Pridelands were.
A mild smile twitched upon her sun colored maw as his modesty flared up. She was glad she was better at it then he was, but at the same time she couldn't help but think it to be darling. He was like a giant butterfly in fact. Lovely, timid, gentle. And even knowing him only this long she could guess he might be as affectionate and patient as the creatures of 'her' domain as well.
Her ears twitched as she listened, eyes only drawing back when his question sounded, and she mused playfully.- "Any place that is not as hot as it is here."
-Reguarding the question seriously, she pondered for a long moment before finally replying.- "Places with flowers I think. Whether it be near the jungle, or dotting the savvanahs. They smell so wonderful.."

His heart seemed to patter and beat faster as he nodded his head and smiled a bit wider. He couldn't exactly imagine how it must have felt to not have a family and to be forlorn within the world- in Kweu's logic, no one should be left alone and everyone needed somebody! And to bring back a real goddess to the Pridelands! The young adult could only imagine his own mother so proud and his siblings stunned. Kweu recalled that sometimes gods and goddeses were given a place of deity and honor within a pride and perhaps Isabis could be added.
In his mind it seemed to mend and mesh perfectly- it made sense!
The young adult couldn't help but smile, nodding his head as her pursed his lips with thought. Some place where flowers bloomed?
An idea struck him while a warm smile curled upon his maw.
"If- if you want to see a whole field of flowers I can show you," he commented with a sweet, genuine tone. "My mother showed me it once- its in the deep part of the jungle by one of the waterfalls. I can take you there if you want. It's really pretty."

-Isabis was taken a back, and her eyes widened softly. He was kind yes... but this was beyond kind. Was this.. what it was like to have a true follower? Her young heart fluttered at being held so high by this male, at having such offers of companionship thrust upon her so quickly. So whole heartedly.
Surely she had the best follower that there could be. She was proud, delighted, flattered.
The soft sound of laughter escaped her once more and she teased softly, despite eating up each word and offer.- "You certainly want to take me alot of places don't you? You really do have wandering paws."
-She paused for a moment pondering whether or not to ask the thought that came to her mind, but excitement got the better of her, and she piped up happily, vibrant in the pleasantness of the day.- "Can we go today? Now? I'd very much like to see the flowers."
"If.. you aren't too busy?" -Perhaps it sounded like a challenge of loyalty? In truth it was a subconcious worry that he might say no.-

Even Kweu couldn't help contain the blush that flooded his cheeks, ears falling against his skull as he smiled wide and chuckled softly. "Well, yeah- I do. I mean, I never could take any of my brothers with me because they thought it was stupid but I think you're someone who would appriciate it as much as I do or even more." His tail thumped upon the ground as it curled around him. Oh the places they could go! It was endless! So many things to see! The young adult gave a nod of his head and a continuous smile.
"I wander wherever I go," he commented with a warm smile.
But what she said next caught the pale, creamy yellow lion off guard and a sudden stunned and momentarily dumbfounded expression found its way upon his face for several moments. Did- did she say she wanted to go today? Was this his lucky day or was he getting better at trying to better decipher the strange yet beautiful species known as the lioness?
Kweu'Chaka nodded his head as a smile broke through his slight confusion with a small laugh.
"Ye-yes! Yes of course! Me busy? Never! You just so happened to catch me when I have nothing better to do," he piped up as he padded a bit closer. He nearly choked slightly on his words but he caught himself- clearing his throat and puffing out his chest slightly with his head raised up high and with pride or at least an attempt at it.
"It would be my pleasure, Isabis."
