Kira hummed happily, sitting in the middle of the hall way, a bunch of playground chalk in her hands in various colors. She was bored, really really bored. On the walls were huge murals of various pokemon in various habitats, vary similar to the sketches in her research books. She'd been working on this particular section of her chalk mural for about one and a half hours now, which consisted of a bunch of forest pokemon, some in the background while others in clear view at the front, in a forest. The floor had been turned into a grassy meadow, almost, with the occasional tree root being drawn in here and there.

Taking a break to study her work, she grinned to herself. The pictures certainly made this place a lot more livelier looking. She sighed, dusting off her hands and clothes with little actual improvement.

Same old routine. It never changed. Well, that wasn't completely true. Every once in a while, the deception was able to be shoved aside for blatent gloating directed towards the ones who fought back. Secretly, he thought those were the most fun of all...

Used syringe tossed casually in his pocket, the good doctor slipped through the door and into the hallway, electric lock automatically engaging behind him. On to the next project...

He strode down the hall, purposefully and powerfully. So many lives...all under his control...it was a heady feeling and he loved it; though he refused to show this outwardly. His face was creased lightly with a focused frown, eyes set on something in the distance that only he seemed able to see.

Stepping over a rogue tree branch, he continued on his way out of the dormitory hall and back to the lab to...wait a minute...

He froze, eyes focusing on the only other individual in the hallway...one of them.

His voice rang out like cold steel, echoing off the long corridor's walls.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!?"

Kira blinked, looking up at the doctor, then smiled warmly. "Hi! I'm Kira Hiromi!" She stood up from her squatting position, she attempted again to rid herself of the chalk dust that covered her tank top and shorts, not to mention her hands, face, feet, and a little bit was streaked in her hair. Quickly taking in his appearance, not to mention his voice of authority, she figured he was the doctor in charge. "What's your name?"

This inappropriate response brought a derisive sneer to the doctor's lips. His voice was cold, rising in volume as his irritation increased. "That is NOT what I asked you. I don't care who the hell you are! What I want to know is what the hell you think you're doing out here in the hallway?!?"

He clenched his fists, trying to regain some sense of composure after this little outburst. Deep breaths...in and out...she was just another subject. He'd get her confined to her room for weeks for this one, then have someone clean up this mess in the hallway. The ghost of a grin touched his lips. Maybe Hayden...he hadn't had him do anything in a couple of days now.

"Listen," he started, much more calmly, but still with a voice of steel. "I don't give a damn who you are or what you were doing. Pack up and get back to your room now."

Kira smiled weakly. "I would... but, well, it's currently being vented out... apparently the chalk dust from on the walls moved through the vents and someone has asthma or something like that.... Oops, missed something...." She picked up a piece of green chalk and added in some shading under a tree. "I knew it looked funny...."

Turning back to Carl, she smiled again, still blissfully ignorant of his anger, even though it was blatantly obvious. "I don't know you're name, unless you'd rather me call you 'Hey, you with the hair'..."

The doctor resisted the urge to beat his head on the wall...or hers...though he was sure that there was a particular vein in his forehead about to pulse out of his skull.

"You will refer to me as Dr. Hakan, girl." His eyes narrowed, swiftly passing over her form. Hmm...he remembered this one...or at least he thought he did. Another one of those 'exposure' cases that had oh-so-conveniently washed up on the beach. So much cheaper and easier than sending out squads for particular targets.

Kira smiled sweetly and bowed deeply. "It's wonderful to meet you, Dr. Hakan." She then straightened up, flinging her hair over her head and out of her face. "You wouldn't know the doctor who treated me, would you? I've been here for several days and haven't had a chance to talk to him, or her, and thank them for helping me."

Carl's eyes remained narrow. Yes, he remembered this one...her condition when she'd arrived...and other things...

Against his better judgment, he nodded once. "I believe I worked on your case, though there is no need to discuss it further at this point." There wasn't much to discuss, granted, but he didn't want to deal with her 'thanks' right now. He was more concerned with the hallway at the moment and how soon it could get it returned to its normal state.

And what about the girl? If he couldn't send her back to her room right now, what was he supposed to do with her? Hell if he was leaving her in the hall to cause more chaos!

Instantly, Kira's eyes lit up and a bright smile of pure gratitude spread across her face. "You were the one who saved me?" She took his hands, despite the dusty residue on hers. "Thank you so much, Dr. Hakan. I really appreciate your kindness in caring for my symptoms and my health."

She then blushed a little. "I was hopping, however, that I could convince you that I'm well enough to go home. I need to get ready for my next year in college, and I'm sure my mother and grandmother are worried for my safety..."

Dr. Hakan cringed at the contact, immediately pulling his hands from her grasp and wiping them repeatedly on his white coat, as if brushing something disgusting away from his skin.

"I said that I worked on your case. Past tense. I passed it on to another doctor long ago. It's not my worry as to when you leave here," he lied smoothly. Stupid fool wouldn't be leaving here at all. His primary concern had been getting her out of the hall to have it cleaned...now it was merely to get out of here himself and send someone down here to deal with the situation for him.

But for curiosity's sake...

"It's not my final word, but perhaps I could see what I could do. Talk to the other doctors on your behalf. Are you sure you're feeling normal? No nausea? Fatigue? Dizziness? Other symptoms?"

Kira sweatdroped as Hakan wiped his hands. "Sorry, I forgot how chalky I am.... I'd shower, but alas, can't get into my room."

Upon hearing his lie, Kira fell for it, even though something inside her was telling her that he was not being true. Her head instantly drooped in both embarrassment and depression. She had really thought she'd found the man who'd helped her. At his offer, however, she perked right up, then smiled even brighter than before.

"That would be so wonderful if you would do that for me. Thank you so much!" She shook her head again. "I feel fine, though, completely back to health. Watch..." Easily, she did a cartwheel, back flip and then the splits without stopping. Looking up from the ground, still holding her splits, she smiled. "See?"

It wasn't just the chalk dust that Dr. Hakan was worried about. "Forget it. Just get cleaned up soon. I'm sure your room will be available again shortly." He sighed, sounding tired. There was more than one reason why he didn't deal directly with the subjects after their injections. Social small talk was not his forte.

Pulling a small notepad from his pocket, he was pretending to take notes to give to the 'other doctors' when Kira put on her little display. His eyebrow twitched, the only outward sign of his inner surprise. His voice remained calm and collected when he responded, however. "Well, that was a bit more than I needed to know...but fine. I'll have a word with my peers and see what can be done."

'So...no signs yet? Interesting. I would have thought that by now...well, perhaps not. I'll give it a little more time. The process could have already begun and she's simply not aware of it yet. We did program in those pain receptor inhibitors this time around. Wish we'd have thought of that before...' Carl's mind raced as he turned as if to leave. The sooner he could get out of here and away from her, the better.

"Ah! Wait!" She quickly got up from her splits and ran up to him. "May I use your shower, please? I don't know when I'll be able to get into my room, but the sooner I get cleaned up, the sooner I can clean up the hall." She was fibbing a bit herself about wanting to shower, but she wanted to know more about the doctor. There was something about him that she knew she wanted to be his friend, and that she would stop at nothing until she was.
PostPosted: Thu Aug 16, 2007 11:37 pm

Dr. Hakan froze, a look of both horror and revulsion etched on his face as he whirled around to snarl at the girl. "I don't hardly think so! You aren't getting anywhere near my private quarters. If necessary, you can use the shower in one of the empty rooms on this hall. Otherwise, you can just wait until your room is available again. I'll send a cleaning crew down to take care of this mess," he sneered derisively, gesturing towards the hallway.

Spinning on his heel, he started off again. He was growing increasingly uncomfortable and was eager to get out of here as soon as possible.

A little surprised by both his response and his facial and body language, it slowly clicked in Kira's little mind. He'd done something to her, and he was keeping her here until he was sure it wasn't effecting her. Dashing in front of Hakan, she blocked his way, her arms crossed. "So, which kidney did you take, huh? Or maybe it was one of my lungs, or perhaps my liver. Is that was this entire place is? A black market for organs?!" She continued spewing out nonsense on the topic or organ stealing, getting very close to his face, clearly not too happy. She then stopped and moved back a bit, smirking.

"You know, for a doctor, you're none too bright. Don't you think the best way to check for any physical changes would be if I stripped down?"
