A small yawn ejected itself out of her lips as she stretched her arms out. It was the lunch hour in their school and she was quite bored. Usually she would spend the break in the school cafe, as most of the staff there knows her to be a regular and she rather not be praised for what her father did. Those idiot lunch servers, she thought grimly. That's like telling the wall that your mom made a good meal for dinner. Why not tell the mom instead?

Yet today the cafe was closed. Something about a small fire and the stove needed repairs now. Even if she had the apparent 'righteous' perk of being the daughter of Ouran's culinary sponsor she couldn't get inside the cafe. Hell she wouldn't mind not having her daily cup of tea, as long as she could enjoy the silence outside the cafeteria.

No matter though. For now she was around the labyrinth area of Ouran's garden area. Why does a school even have a garden area? This is nothing like the regular school I use to go to. It didn't matter right now. To get peace and quiet was her objective so why not search around the garden area. She heard that there was a gazebo area around here anyway.

Raising her arms above her head, the girl stretched contently as she stepped into the sunlight. Having finished her lunch extremely quickly - she basically crammed all her food into her mouth in a rush - Mitsuko had been eager to explore the school. Though she had already been around the school many times, this would have been her first time as a high school student. She found this oddly important to her in some way. The garden seemed to be an ideal place to start. Afterall, it was a bright, sunny day, and she always was drawn to the peacefulness of gardens.

But of course, there was never really peace with Mitsuko around. Walking - or prancing, really - into the garden, she took a deep breath at the fresh air, and the faint scent of roses. Slowing her pace just a little, she glanced from side to side at the tall bushes that surrounded her, and the roses that bloomed around her. 'This would be a nice place to have lunch,' She tucked the idea into her head, as well as a list of people she would drag out to have lunch with her here. Minori-chan, of course, and Roka-kun...Takumi-kun as well...and -

"Oof!" As usual, the moment Mitsuko's mind drifted off somewhere, she had somehow managed to stumble over her own feet. As she fell backwards, she mentally sighed a, 'Falling yet again...' and winced as she fell against the rather prickly bushes, a shower of rose petals falling over her.

"Ow."

A cry seemed to pop out, coming not too far from where she was. Tarii's conscious told her to help whoever might have felled, but the side that she tended to agree with nagged her to ignore it. Yet whoever fell might be someone important. Like a teacher perhaps? Why would a teacher be here? She spat at her thoughts.

With a defeated sigh she walked over closer to the victim's location. Peering over the figure she noticed it was a student, a female one judging from the uniform alone. "Anata niido ouen?" She asked, letting literal Japanese slip her tongue. Tarii's first language was English and Japanese was second. Unfortunately she was still learning it and it tended to slip accidentally.

((Anata niido ouen means You need help? XD I think -still learning so fails-))

Lowering her head as the rose petals fell over her, the girl blinked in sudden realization that someone had approached, as was speaking to her. Mitsuko blinked as the girl's words reached her ears. Was that Japanese? Uh oh, she didn't know that much Japanese...her parents did, and she had spoken it with her grandmother, but aside from that...She could understand and speak Japanese but...it felt awkward in her mouth, after having spoken English for so long.

Unsure as to if the girl who had spoken was fluent in English, she decided to speak in Japanese. Hesitantly, and rather shakily, but still in her cheery tone, "Uuh, iie, iie! Daijoubu!" This was followed by a pause, and then, "Um, do you speak English?" Mitsuko asked, sheepishly. "I can speak Japanese, but it's kinda odd."

As she spoke, she wriggled away from the bush, and then pushed herself back up. Brushing off her dress, the girl pat at her head, sending a mini shower of petals.

As the brown haired girl spoke Japanese she suppressed a giggle. It sounded a little bit broken, but that was no reason to laugh. Her own Japanese was a little rusty as well and she didn't feel like being hypocritical today.

"Of course," she replied with a small smirk, her voice showing off much more of her British accent when she spoke English. Tarii didn't mind the accent at all, but at times she wishes she can be a bit more Japanese. Maybe then people can take her more seriously.

By the time the brown haired Ouran student stood up Tarii's eyes wandered around the student's hair, only to find a pink ribbon near the top. A pink ribbon...oh please don't tell me it's /her/. Yes she finally remember. The clumsy 1A student that would always trip on her own feet. They briefly met during the first day and even after that they would run into each other.

It was Mitsuko Takara. And for some reason Tarii had a feeling her eardrums were going to be ringing all day after this encounter.

"I'm glad to hear you can speak English," Mitsuko grinned with relief, though mentally she sighed at herself. Most of the Ouran students would be able to speak fluent English, she should have known, but like with most things, it had slipped her mind. Mitsuko wasn't actually stupid - she just tended to forget things rather quickly. Too quickly.

And it yet another of those times, when the green-eyed girl's attention was drawn elsewhere. It took her a moment before she finally noted the small accent in Tarii's voice. "Mm...You have a pretty voice, and a small accent?" She paused, as she tried to recall what kind of accent that was. Not a scottish one, certainly...

Having gotten all the dirt, petals and bits of the bush out of her hair, she pulled out her ribbon for a moment, running her fingers through her hair in an attempt to comb it. After a few moments, deciding that it was enough, she tied the ribbon back into place, before finally taking a good look at the other girl.

She peered at Tarii quietly for a moment, before blinking in recognition. "Ah! You're that girl I kindasorta met on the first day! Um...um..." What was her name? ...For that matter, had they even been introduced at the time? If not, now was probably a good time.

"Imma Mitsuko." Mitsuko chirped, sticking out her right hand.

Tarii cringed. Now that Mitsuko knew who she was a crawling feeling on inevitable doom crept up her spine mercilessly. The brunette would jabber on and on about something that she didn't care about and she would subjected to endless incoherent babbling. To make things worse she didn't recognize her surroundings at all. In others words: she was trapped in the labyrinth.

This is payback for making all those little kids back in grammar school get in trouble for no reason, isn't it?

When Mitsuko introduced herself it dawned on Tarii that the brunette must have barely remembered their meeting at all. Well Tarii just prayed that Mitsuko would annoy her with useless words since they are strangers in the brunette's green eyes.

"I'm Tarii," the ebony black hair girl replied, mustering up a small kind smile. She didn't like fake smiles, so she might as well take some good from this situation. Even if that good was barely there to begin with.

Beaming at Tarii, Mitsuko offered her one of her bright, cheerful smiles as they introduced themselves. Of course, Tarii already seemed well aware of who Mitsuko was.

"It's nice to see you again, Tarii-chan!" She said, with a grin. "I haven't seen you around since the first day of school. You've been well, I hope?" Mitsuko most obviously loved to make friends, whether they liked her company or not. Also, being rather dense most of the time, it would take much hinting and prodding before she got a message, as simple as the said message may have been.

"You're really good at Japanese, Tarii-chan." She piped up, after a moment. Giving a small, sheepish smile, she continued, "I envy you. As if you couldn't tell, my Japanese is..." A pause, "Rusty." Considering the fact that Mitsuko was Japanese, and that she grew up speaking Japanese in her home...well...

...Maybe she needed more practice, or something.

Tarii shrugged back at Mitsuko, almost grimly. She honestly at times couldn't stand the peppy attitude Mitsuko beamed out. After all, not one person can be so damn happy with their life. It was impossible. That's why rich people would be on antidepressants at times. They couldn't deal with being rich...apparently?

"I've been okay, I suppose. Still can't find a club to join though," she grumbled. She tried for the Host Club as their chef but was only put into consideration and then rejection. She didn't mind it honestly; it was her mom that wanted her to join that club most of all.

Her eyebrow perked at the compliment. "Thanks, I guess," she clicked her tongue, looking at her unpainted nails with little interest. "My father would only speak Japanese to me until I was thirteen, so I had to either learn or not listen to him." The latter which was not an option unfortunately.

"Can't find a club?" Mitsuko repeated, scratching her head. "Well, there's the music club that Roka-kun and Satu-kun are making! You can join too!" She paused, chewing on her bottom lip in thought, before adding, "Or the library club?" After another moment, the girl smiled at Tarii. "What kind of things interest you, Tarii-chan, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Mm, I see, I see!" The bronze-haired girl nodded, "It's the opposite for me. I was taught to speak English most of the time, though I can still speak Japanese. And...a teeeeeny bit of French." Teeny bit, being only a few sentences, that were usually gramatically incorrect. Mitsuko could, however, speak some French fluently if she tried - 'tried' being spending hours and hours on trying to learn something.

Locking her fingers together behind her back, the girl tilted her head to the side. "What're you doing outside today, Tarii-chan? It's lunchtime right now - shouldn't you be eating?"

Tarii pondered. Music club was out. If Baba ever found out she would be going there then she would only torture her to be better than the other students there. She rather keep her fingers than lose them. Library Club would probably be the best option in the end, as she couldn't exactly find a good club overall.

"Interest?" Tarii restated the question shortly. "The only thing I really enjoy is cooking overall. Though I can't exactly start a club on my own and most of the others are already in a club themselves."

She didn't really want there to be a cooking club actually. The only time she really felt comfortable with cooking was if she was working in the Ouran cafe or if she was at home. Otherwise it felt awkward for her.

"French is quite an interesting language. My mother use to know how to speak it but then she forgot while learning English," Tarii shrugged. She wouldn't mind learning a new language, seeing as that was the kind of person she was. So far she knew English and Japanese. She was hoping that maybe Baba's butler Isaac could teach her Russian, as she was frighten that if she asked Baba to tutor her in a language anytime she would get a word wrong her fingers would be smacked by that wicked cane.

Tarii started twirling a strip of her bangs in boredom still intently gazing at Mitsuko with her expressionless frown. "I'm not very hungry, so I decided to come out here."

Cooking, eh? Tapping her chin, Mitsuko dug through her head for all the infomation her parents had drilled into her the day before school started, about the families who attended Ouran. It took her a while - Mitsuko stood there silently in the same pose for a minute or so - before her eyes lit up. Ah, right! Her family owned a restaurant and stuff, right?

"Cooking is fun!" The girl shimed, nodding enthusiastically, "I bet you're really good at it, Tarii-chan. There's only some things I can cook - everything else burns."

Mitsuko liked to try new things, though most of them never did turn out right. The first time she had tried to sew, she had somehow sewn her sleeve to her work, and had to start all over again. Not to mention that, considering the fact that thegirl was literally a walking hazard, the maids and staff didn't allow her to cook too often. They always claimed it was for her own safety, but many could say otherwise.

"It is interesting!" She agreed, with a smile, "It's similar to English is some ways, though some of the words are kind of hard for me to pronounce." She made a face.

Rocking back and forth on her heels, the bronze-haired girl nodded. "Ah, I see, I see! Make sure you eat something later though - it's not healthy to skip meals. Anyways! How's your life at Ouran? Make lots of friends?"

Tarii smiled bashfully at the flattering accusation, but quickly frowned again. She didn't enjoy being flattered quick frankly. It was just a feeling she got that so many things told to her were fake. When she was little her maids would always call her beautiful and perfect, but the truth was that she was far from that. In the end she wishes some people would stop flattering her because now she's so warped she doesn't even know if it's a lie or not.

"Well I'm sure if you practice cooking you can do it. I had to be taught by my father for many years until I got to an age that I was allowed to use the stove by myself." Memories flashed back to the maids helping Tarii turn on the stove and lift her up as she added in the pre-made ramen noodle soup into the pot of boiling water. It wasn't really cooking but it was exciting to see how the water bubbled and the noodles quickly softened.

"I wish you luck either way," Tarii quickly added with a smile, knowing how difficult it was to learn a language.

The black hair girl shrugged. "I suppose I should eat when I find it most convenient."

Having caught the smile on Tarii's face, before it changed to a frown, Mitsuko smiled softly. So Tarii -could- smile like that from to time. It seemed almost like a rare sight to see, however the girl was glad to witness it if only for a second. After a moment, the usual, cheery grin found its way back to her face.

"Practice would be helpful yes, but my staff prefer if I don't try," She admitted, with a sheepish smile, "After all, I tend to fall a lot, right? Imagine that in a kitchen, with all those pointy objects, and hot pots and pans." Mitsuko made a face, before sighing, "Besides, I for one could probably burn anything - even water."

"Thank you very much, Tarii-chan," The girl replied, giving a cheerful nod of her head, "I'll work hard on my studies!"

"Well, as long as you don't starve yourself, that should be fine." She paused, to take a look around them. "I haven't been out here all that much. It's really nice here, isn't it?" Her gaze stopped on the spot that she had fallen into earlier, where the roses were now missing a few petals. Coughing, Mitsuko sheepishly shuffled in front of them in an attempt to block them from view. "Oops."
