Azachamorel stalked along the borders of Motoujamii territory in search of prey, tracking the scent of an oryx herd. Despite their wicked horns, they were Aza's very favorite prey - if not to take down, certainly to eat. Especially the yearlings.

A yearling would not be her target today, though; she could smell the trace of sickness that clung to an older member of the herd. It would be tough, but it would be food to bring back to the pride.

Ilori had been doing his regular cub routine, not getting too far ahead of his family, but getting far enough away that he could explore and be loud. Of course, he had no notion of who he was getting in the way of, or what Pride he was getting close to.

He spotted an oryx herd and smiled brightly, moving towards them, "Wow... cool!" He wondered if he should go and get his parents to tell them about it. Maybe these things could be his dinner!

Being the firey and energetic lioness that she was, Ada had chosen to lope along after her orange son. It wasn't hard to keep up, with the speed and stamina she had and the lack of his own. But it was certainly amusing. She didn't try to stay too close, since she didn't worry much about him. Her mothering skills had always been lax, since she had been alone so much of her own cubhood and beyond. She hadn't needed an adult to look after her, so she assumed the same for her children. Though she too failed to notice what area they were in.

Aza tended to dislike the brushy borders of the desert, finding the dry plantlife pokey and aggravating on the whole. It did, however, provide better footing and cover than pure sand. It was one of the the few things it had going for it, in the lioness' opinion.

The oryx herd was still some distance off as she trotted stealthily along, sharp eyes on the lookout while she moved through the brush - sharp enough that she picked out the small form of a lion cub moving with absolutely no sense of stealth whatever.

It was not Firekin, that was sure - the telltale red was completely absent. Rogue trash, then...and there was only one thing worth doing with trash. Get rid of it.

Grinning savagely, she swept smoothly into a crouching run just as she would when initially pursuing prey, intending to catch up to the cub and snap him up in her jaws, then toss him roughly aside.

That was the intention, of course - whether or not it panned out remained to be seen.

Ilori blinked when he heard something coming towards him. Coming towards him very, very fast. Which he did not like. All his senses told him to bolt, but he turned around to see what was coming.

A rather big, rather unfriendly looking lioness. Which made Ilori let out a loud "OH NO!" as he turned promptly and made a run for it, causing the lioness to mostly miss him, except for catching a small portion of his back, which started to bleed as Ilori slammed himself to the ground to get out of her jaws. He then crawled underneith her, trying to get away.

The cry of her cub caused Ada's head to snap around. Seeing the danger he was in her muscles snapped into action. She raced forward, her lean body swift like an arrow. She had always been a very quickly lioness, if not the strongest. "GET THE ******** AWAY FROM MY BOY!" She roared furiously lunging full out at the other lioness with both claws and fangs. She was flooded with rage, such a rage that she had never felt before. Even that one night in the den with Nukta she had not been so mad. And her fury showed.

Aza would have tried again, spun around and swiped at the cub with claws unsheathed, but for the roar of fury belted out by his mother - his filthy, brown mother. The huntress leapt to meet her with a roar of her own.

With more time and a less agile opponent she would have tried to circle, treat her more like she would prey, but now was not the time for strategy. She collided with the other lioness to an audible, ominous sound, fangs and claws seeking whatever purchase they could find.

Ilori turned from where he lay flattened on the ground, his eyes filling with horror, "MOM!" He cried, standing up, not knowing what to do as, for the first time in his life, panic flew through his body. He watched the fight, his brain racing to think of something to do.

What should he do? What should he do? His mother! His mother! No, no! "Mom... mom... please mom be okay!"

Ada snarled as she felt claws rip across her face making bloody slices over her brow and muzzle. But the pain only made her lash out with more feriousity trying to get at any part of the other female that she could reach. Had she not been so furious she might have used to excellent speed to her advantage, but instead she face the lioness head on without a hint of hesitation.

The cub's cry was merely background noise as she felt her claws find purchase across the rogue's face, and the rogue's own claws catch at her forleg and rake open the skin along the length of it. Though she snarled at the stinging shot of pain, Aza surged forward to try and bully her opponent down with superior size and strength.

This was Blood land, and she wouldn't hesitate to spill the blood of herself and others to keep it pure.

The other two boys in their little traveling band had been lagging behind as usual, Nukta leading their son along as he tracked the scent of Ilori and his mate. Life on the road again was much more plesant than being stationary in the Pridelands, as nice as that had been. He supposed they'd just traveled too much to simply fit into a pride anymore. Since they were cubs, practically... yeah. It had been a long time. Hard to believe that first meeting so many months and months ago.

Just then, however, Nukta was harshly snapped from his revirie by the sound of panicked cries from Ilori, bellows from Adanna and a stranger. His irritation for the heat and thoughts of the past were immediately forgotten, his attention snapping to the other young cub at his side instead. "Nanuka, find cover and stay here!" He'd order before carrying his almost lanky hide in the direction of the fighting at a lightning fast pace.

He arrived on the scene to the smell of bloodshed, both his son's and mate's, and his own blood began to boil as memories of his brother flew through his mind. He pushed those aside and frantically searched for their familiar orange pelts, spotting the smaller form in the distance, calling out in paternal panic. (Adanna he knew could handle herself, but if she couldn't, that's what he was there for. He might not be as quick, but he was larger, and he had the protection of his mane, not to mention plenty of bottled rage.)

"Ilori!!"

Ilori heard his father's cry a second after he had decided to act. The small cub ran forward, jaws open, since he was still behind the enemy lioness. Though his teeth were small, he knew they would still hurt as he pounced at her tail, intending to distract her from his mother for as long as he could.

His father... no! This was all his fault, he had to stop them from getting hurt! He had to help his mother kill the lioness!

Ada had trouble seeing through the blood on her face. But she did see her baby attempt to aid her. "Ilori NO!" she roared fiercely. In a reckless attempt to keep the strange lioness from noticing her son she flung herself at the bigger female trying to knock her off balance, get on top of her, anything. She'd be damned if she let her harm her boy!

There was another lion now, she could hear him, and when she did, she knew she could be in for some serious trouble. Yes, she was a descendant of Finar-si, but she was no overconfident fool - two on one was never good odds to be on the low side of.

Aza felt the cub's small teeth sink into her tail, but it was only a distant pain to the huntress, who had suffered hooved kicks and yet gone on to bring down prey. His daring, however, was rewarded when his mother lunged, forcing her backward as she tried to keep her balance and fight.

She stumbled heavily over the cub and went down, flailing and lashing out at either and both of them in an effort to keep from being topped.

Nukta snarled, his shock gone, replaced only by a protective drive. The thought did not occur to him that perhaps there were reinforcements waiting around the bend, nor that he didn't know the exact circumstances. But did he need to? Ilori was just a cub, and Adanna, while brash, didn't usually go starting trouble with strangers unless they were already asking for it.

He let out an angry roar, charging forward, claws helping him grip the thankfully solid grounds as his dark hide drew in on the warring females and his son. The first thing he did was to grab Ilori before he could get himself killed, trying to get a hold of the boy by the scruff of his neck.
