Turning her Cleansweep hard, Niamh grabbed at the makeshift Quaffle that Ninian passed to her. It was really just a muggle volley ball - but it did the job well enough. She clutched the ball to her side, feinting to the left - trying to persuade Cad away from the hula hoop dangling in the bush - and making a pass at her cousin, Nin, behind her back. Nin threw it hard through the hoop on the far right, but it was too late. Cad swerved hard, swatting the volley ball away with his Comet's tail.

Nin swore loudly as his brother tossed him the ball. They were helping him practice, this year he would try out to be Keeper for the Gryffindor house team. They could play their makeshift game of Quidditch in the secluded cliffside by the beach. The water was too rough to go near it otherwise.

Niamh had to think, as herself and Nin circled one another. She nodded at him, taking a vow of silence. If Cad knew what they were planning, it wouldn't work. She just hoped Nin understood. It appeared that he did, as he shot forward like a bullet. Niamh followed, circling him before diving down and out of Cad's view.

Instead of worrying about Niamh, Cad focussed his attention on the volley ball. He knew that Nin would send it down to his cousin, and that she would come zooming in from his far left. Which was exactly what happened. Niamh, with the ball, zoomed to his right. Then left again. She circled under Nin and popped up on his right, passing him the ball. He feinted a shot and passed back.

She feinted a shot as well, and threw the ball hard in Nin's direction. He dove for it and Cad rolled his eyes at their repeatitiveness and stayed half left half center- his eyes never leaving the ball. Something didn't feel right about it though

But before Nin's hands reached the ball, Naimh jumped off of her broom and held on to the handle, swinging it like a beater's bat right on the ball - aiming for the rightmost hoop.

Cad dove, but it was a split second too late. His fingers brushed the ball, but didn't get a grip on it. Instead of going through it smacked the edge of the hoop and fell into the dangerous water below. Nin cursed again while Cad burst out laughing.

Niamh scowled, dangling off of her broom by her hands - feet still swaying. The air of defeat [for everyone] was broken up by a loud screech that echoed through the cliff side.

"Where on earth are you?!" Niamh could hear her mother calling. She swung herself back onto her broom and the trio flew to the edge of the cliff. Getting a firm grip they hoisted themselves up and off of their brooms. Gemini's eyes narrowed, watching them approach.

"We're going to be late, hurry and get cleaned up." She watched as the trio dragged their feet across the lawn, and followed with her lips pursed - she didn't like them playing Quidditch by the cliff side, but she was also happy they were so set on honing their abilities.

"Mind you don't trek any muck into the house." She said as they reached the deck. The kids were careful to bang their shoes free of dirt before opening the wooden door. The kitchen was - as usual - cramped with all the bodies being crammed inside. Alastronia was busy tying more herbs to the rafters in the roof. Gemini sat down, waving the children upstairs. The three of them shoved each other as they raced through the door and down the hall. It became a race as they shoved and dodged one another on their way up the narrow staircase. Cad pushed Nin into the door leading to their Aunt Sile's bedroom and then went to shove Niamh, but she saw it coming and ducked around him and pushed passed him and up the staircase. She then tripped, sliding on her knees in the landing. To her left was a door, and in front of her was the open door to their room. She quickly began to crawl - hearing Cad behind her - and propelled herself forward so fast she slid into her trunk. She rifled through it, looking for a decent pair of muggle jeans. They would be flooing to a friend of their's in London, then walking to the Leaky Cauldron. She knew Cad was doing the same as her, as Nin thudded through the door. She laughed to herself as she heard Nin's punch land squarely on Cad's shoulder.

It was no small wonder why her jeans were full of holes. She grabbed the least holiest pair she could find before rifling for a white polo shirt and a pair of socks. She only managed to find two socks, and they didn't match. She shrugged, deciding to take them anyway before running into the landing and going through the door on the left. It was the bathroom the three of them shared - well... fought over.

It was cramped, rather like the rest of the house. It never ceased to amaze her how many people her grandparents could cram into the cottage. She shivered thinking about how in only a short time she'd be leaving for a very long time. It felt like yesterday she received her letter:

---Flashback---

Niamh's small, pale hands clutched the yellowed envelope. It was addressed in green as:

Miss N. Orlova
Attic Bedroom
The Ivory Tower
Ballycastle
County Antrim

There was a purple wax seal that she recognized as the Hogwarts crest. Her hands were now trembling slightly as she broke the seal and gently coaxed the parchment letter from inside. She felt her heart skip beats as she read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY

Headmaster:

Dear Miss Orlova,

We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all nesscesary books and equipment.

Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.

Yours Sincerely,

By the time she had finished, her hands were shaking so bad the letter was crackling loudly with her movement. Sucking in a hissing breath between her clenched teeth she let out a deafening screech.

"Finally!"

"Argh!" Cad yelped, covering his ears with his large, calloused hands. It was an action that was mimicked by the other members of the family gathered in the tight confines of the hall. Niamh didn't appear to notice as she began to add a jig to her whoops of joy. It was difficult, seeing as there was hardly any room to move. She elbowed her cousin Ninian in the face.
