MHHornfreak What series of books are they using? Essential Elements Clarinet book 1. Seems like a good book to me, and has a DVD and a CD.

That thing has a DVD now? : ( Back when I started sax, it just had a DVD, but my book was missing it.
Hmm, well I liked it. I got through 2 in two years.

I'm sure you'll do this well enough, but make sure he gets variety in what he's playing. One of my major causes for a detestation of clarinet was only playing concert band. The book sounds good, I mean mine was bunch of papers from the nineteen forties that I had to duct tape to keep in order. But, uh, mainly expose him to stuff other than what he does in his band. Listening and playing. You want him to enjoy the instrument. I'm sure you'll both do fine razz .

Keeping him interested is a good idea and I am a perfectly good example of that, lol. I played the clarinet in fifth grade too, but only for three months because I got tired of the instrument. I'm much more of a choir person though. Anyhow, good luck to him with learning!
