[Just making sure...this is a girl, right? Tithe is a very nondescript name... sweatdrop ]
She was diving.
A cleared mind honestly did do wonders for the soul. Worlds of blue licking at her feet, Tithe was truly free...and then...suddenly...
Brightness...a brightness that filled her, burned her, worked its grating way through her very core, scathing and grinding at everything it could find. Like a raging white snake, the bright beam filled the waters, vaporizing everything it touched. Within seconds, the flare began to peel away Tithe's own flesh, leaving nothing but bone. Scrambling for the mirrored, gilded screen above, there was no escape. No matter how close she got, the excruciating blankness tore away her only hope...At the first swipe upwards, her fingers dissolved. Another bleeding swat and her wrist deteriorated. Soon, she couldn't even stay afloat, and she was merely bait, waiting for the imminent.
The mask and tank were gone in a flash. The serpent had her just where he wanted her...and, looking into her bony, rotting eyesockets...he struck.
With a jolt, the whole world seemed to become immersed in this light...but...was it a dream? What was reality? Did that diving incident truly occur? Nothing else existed in the far reaches of her mind...
Damn. She was laying down, free of pain...but what of that dream?
Nothing seemed real anymore. Everything was numb. Life was numb.

As much as she would of liked to contemplate the dream, and what it could mean, she first had to figure out where she was.
Well, for one, it was dark, pitch black, not even a hint of- wait, didn't one have to open their eyes to see? "Stupid girl..."
Opening her eyes, Tithe looked around at her surroundings, looking for an indication of where she was and her current situation.

[Yep. On the mark. Now, you don't HAVE to use observe, just when you're looking for clues and there seems to be no other solution...remember, there's only TWO uses per area. (You'll find it all in the Floor 10 board)]
Hm...well, she was definitely strapped to a table. Yep. Surely strapped to a table.
Okay, cuffed was more like it...it was almost like the ankle and wrist shackles came from the steel table itself, four seamless inserts in an already cold device...
The room was waaaaayy too bright. Pure white walls, dome light up above, and what seemed to be a well-reinforced door (with knob) all made up the monotony of her chamber...
To her left, as well, was a small desk - cheaply made, it seemed - with one drawer that gave nothing away. No papers, pens, or any other possible clues laid on its wooden surface...
God, how the ******** did she get here again?

Was that even possible? If they were seamless, there'd be no way to open them, and if there were no way to open them, there was no way-
"STOP! Tithe, if you keep thinking in paradoxes, you're going to go insane." Falling silent at her own words, she closed her eyes, looking for some momentary relief from the blinding light.
"Stupid lights, stupid room, and why the hell would anyone put a desk in what is clearly meant to be a holding cell?!" For the second time, she fell silent, straining her ears in an attempt to hear anything beyond the walls of the stupid room.
"How the hell did I get in here anyway? Screw that, what the hell is this place?" "
"HELLO! IS ANYONE OUT THERE!?"

There was no response...
Well, it looked like she was all alone again, left to her own damnable devices. If she wanted out, she'd have to take matters into her own hands.

"Fine, be that way." She snapped back at the unresponsive silence. "I don't need any help anyway, I can get out just fine." Easier said than done.
"Now, what to try first?" Straining at the shackles, she attempted to break them, pulling at them with all her might, doing the same with her feet, bracing her back against the table in order to get some leverage or whatever those stupid science geeks called it.

[All four, correct? Replace the X here with how many you actually want to try breaking...]

[Yep...and don't be discouraged. You would have needed a 20 on any of them to break the steel.]
Well, at least she didn't hurt herself.
Following one of those familiar outpourings of rage she so relished in, Tithe flung her extremities upwards at the steel bonds...but to no avail.
Her right ankle hold seemed like it budged a bit...but maybe it was just a trick of the mind. Who knows?

"Stupid manacles. Or are they shackles, or handcuffs?" She muttered, shaking her head to steer it away from paradoxes, or whatever they were called.
Some of the less stubborn people she had known in her life probably would have given up after that one try, but she knew she couldn't allow herself to give after one attempt.
Besides, hadn't the manacle/shackle/anklecuff holding her right ankle seemed to have wiggled a bit?
Diverting all her strength into kicking her right leg up, she gave it another try.
((Only attempting right ankle))

[Thanks for pointing out my weakness for synonyms... redface ]
Okay. This was starting to hurt a little. The shackle didn't budge at all...maybe she should become like those "stubborn" people she'd known, for it looked like this was going nowhere.

Become like those quitters? NEVER!
If that ankle wasn't going anywhere, it was time to try the other ankle. AGain, as before, she tried to force her left leg into the air.
((That was never my intention, Tithe simply can't agree on one word to use for describing something))

[Her and me both.]
CRACK! CLANG!
A mixture of breaking bone and shattering, twisting metal, rampant sounds filled the air with their sharp tones. The pain that accompanied the blow was nothing in comparison to the sight...
It was really awful.
The foot had swung at full force, slamming hard against the cold steel and breaking upon impact. Tithe's left ankle was most definitely shattered into 2, maybe three pieces...she could see the white bumps shift and swirl under her already bruised skin...
But that wasn't enough. Intent on breaking the ******** shackle, she continued to push, feeling tendons and veins alike snapping and popping underneath the pressure as she followed through with her dead limb. The foot had bent all the way around now, the color completely drained from its patchy surface...
PAIN.
PAIN.
PAIN!!
As far as she was concerned, she was pushing with nothing more than a stump of a leg. Tears poured out of their own accord, and anger, like the white snake of her nightmare, filled her fluid-filled mind like the smog of drugs of sweet scent of a lover. The anger pushed her to new heights, poisoning her with its ambition.
Before long, the metal cuff bust wide open, spraying bits of steel all over the room. Certainly a few had stuck into her legs, but it did not matter. She was free.
She was in pain.
Her ankle had shattered.
All hope seemed lost.
This wasn't over yet.
But...her leg was free.
Tithe lost 44 HP!
[That's for my own records.]

Tithe let the tears flow freely, cursing and belittling herself for being so stubboon and stupid. When would she learn? There had been so many times in her life when her stubborn nature had gotten herself injured.
Now all she could was lie there as her ankle swelled, tears dripping down onto the table.
It was time to give up as far as she was concerned, and with these thoughts, she fell still, closing her eyes and praying for the numbness to return, even if the snake followed.
