Life had become very peaceful, something that Tai could only claim she thought to understand just three or four months ago. It was one story she never intended to tell, the story of her past, not to her son or any of the children following she and her brother. She only prayed that they would never learn by other means.
Yet her nights were filled with peaceful dreams now, something that she was grateful for, just not as much as she was for her little ones. Her two adopted children and her three sons, who, as far as they all knew, were related by blood.
It was sometime around noon and goodness it was hot! She'd dozed off for just a small nap while Mosi and Ausi were kind enough to look after the cubs. Little did Tai realize that one of her brave little explorers had wandered off, and was finding his way to her sunning rock....

With the given opportunity that had presented itself as Mosi and Ausi had turned around, the creamy, yellow cub had managed to slip away and create an adventure of his own. Unlike his other brothers, Kweu'Chaka craved to lurk and wander where he could be his own dictator and venture whever he desired without being scolded or repremanded.
Besides, a good explorer never wants to be held back from the many discoveries that awaited them but before any good adventurist could begin, they needed facts. And there was one person who could key him in on where to look or what great mysteries awaited to be discovered.
That person was Mom.
Creeping low, Kewu'Chaka slowly padded where Tai rested, actually taking a break for one with Ausi and Mosi's help. Taking a deep breath as his chest puffed out slightly for a more tough and rumble appearance, the small cub drew closer.
"Mom," he hused his voice low, making sure that he wouldn't be discovered by either Ausi or Mosi, "Mom." Poking at her with his paw, Kewu'Chaka drew closer and placed his paws upon her muzzle looking at her with his big, blue eyes.
"Can you tell me a story? Pleaaaase?"

The only signs that the ghostly female had even been awake was the subtle heaving of her chest, and the ocassional flicker of her ear to bat away an annoying fly. Goodness knew what those pests looked for on the ears of all places. Their buzzing was quite a nuiscance.
It wasn't the flies that woke her, however, but the voice of one of her sons, one of five voices that she would always make time for, no matter her condition. It wasn't quite so easy to wake her though. Little paws began poking at her, and a hushed whisper greated her before she felt the weight of her little sunbeam on her jaws, and blearily peeled open nap-heavy eyes, turning them to focus on his tiny form with a disoriented purr.
A story...?

As Tai stirred and her eyes flickered open wearily, Kweu'Chaka gave a broad smile and nuzzled against her. "Every great warrior or explorer needs to know what to look for before they find it," he spoke with such thrill though his voice was still kept low, "and I wanted to search for those legendary lions that everyone talks about."
For such a young cub, Kewu'Chaka's heart was strong in courage. The soft, creamy-yellow cub was the boldest out of his brothers and the most rebellious at given times yet his yearning to learn of the mysterious lions that walked amongst the mortals was a topic he had yet to hear about.
He wanted to learn more.
"Momma, those lions with the wings? What are they?"

"Hmmm..." She answered at first with a small and warm smile, understanding now. Even at a young age her Kweu was quite literate. She wondered at times if that was because of how attentive he was during story-time for the other cubs. Her rough tongue reached out to brush against the underside of his legs before her upper paw reached over, scooping him gently into her hold and drawing him closer. She was still comfortably sprawled out on the platform like rock, shaded partially by the sparse Acacia trees littering the back of Pride Rock (the place where Sarabi and Sarafina were when Simba came to get Nala). "They're called gods, or in the case of the girls, goddesses." She answered, always with the same patient and mothering tone.

Flicking his tail side to side as if almost on edge, Kewu'Chaka laughed softly as his mothers tounge brushed against him and found himself to be scooped an drawn closer towards her.
His eyes widened slightly with awe in interest. "Gods and- and Goddesses?" Such a weird thing to call a lion with wings! Furrowing his brows and wrinkling his muzzle in thought, Kewu found thousands of questions to suddenly spurt within his curious mind.
"What do they do? Do they help us at all or are they mean lions?"

"Some of them do, some of them are. The two that I met were quite nice, well... one of them was a little spacey, but," She had a soft laugh at that, turning onto her back so that Kweu rested on her chest, gazing down her nose at her son as her chest rose and fell with her breaths, tail swaying lazily over the edge of the rock.

As Tai shifted onto her back, Kweu'Chaka grinned as he positioned himself to lay upon his stomach and gazed at his mother with his brilliant, cerulen blue eyes. The small cub rested his head upon his forepaws and swayed his tail across his mothers stomach. For a moment, he pursed his lips slightly and looked to the side.
Some helped other lions and some were nice. Well- that was a start in trying to better understand them so he could find one and meet one but his creative, imaginative brain was not satisfied just yet. Oh no, Kweu'Chaka still had alot more questions!
"You met two of them?" He spoke with great thrill as a wide, unbearable smile spread across his small maw. "What did you do?" Fumbling in trying to better understand, the small cub needed to ask yet another question.
"Momma, how many gods and goddesses are there?"

"Hmm, many, many more than we could probably count, dear." She smiled, eyes casting to the sky, away from his mirroring eyes. "Yes, I met two... Kweupe, the god of the sky... and Kiva, the goddess of Unity. We spoke, I suppose about grown up things, nothing interesting. They both seemed like normal lions to me, except for their wings of course. Kiva's wings were brown like the mountains, but with clouds and stars just like the night sky. She did tell me that there are other gods. A goddess of Tornados, a god of Nightmares, a goddess of the Oceans, even a god for the sun and moon-- they're brothers, like you, Ayato, Tui, and Udha, and your sister Zira." She smiled.

"Many more? Like a zillion?" Creeping closer and inching his way in somewhat of a crawling motion towards her head, Kewu'Chaka grinned from ear to ear while his tail swayed excitedly behind him. "And they had wings with clouds and stars?"
The thougth of gods and goddesses seemed to take his imagination to new heights. If there were gods of Nightmares, the stars and the moon then there had to be a god for everything, right?
It seemed possible.
"Momma," he inclined as he pawed at her face, "is there gods that can make you strong? Maybe if I can find a god they can give me powers too and make me stronger than Ayato and Tui."
His chest puffed out slightly as he tried to give a strong roar but only conjured up a small growl that seemed more like a dull rumble. Biting his lower lip, Kewu'Chaka furrowed his brows and slumped back onto his stomach.
"Do you think we'll see a god? I wanna find one."
