Personality - He tends to give off a rough personality, pretending to be a loner who doesn't like dealing with others or their incompetence. However, underneath this rough persona he is actually fairly understanding and willing to support others when they need him. He blames himself for things that happen to his comrades, which can lead him to become angry at himself for things that aren't his fault.

Born into the lowly Mitsurugi clan of the Mist, a clan not even considered a true clan due to their dwindling numbers of late, Kaen grew up in a relatively sparse environment. Everything he gained, he did so on his own, his family unable to do anything more than keep him alive. Seeing the miserable state of his clan and the glory of the other clans, he grew disgusted with his fellow clansmen. He swore he would bring glory back to the Mitsurugi clan and prove that his clan was the greatest in all of the Mist. He quickly began training, however he found himself unable to keep up with the other clans. His clan did not have any special jutsus or bloodline limits to give them an edge, meaning that he had to start from scratch while all the other kids already had some sort of special ability. Worse, he was not exceptional at taijutsu, having only slightly higher than average speed and strength, meaning he had no real advantage over the others. At least, in terms of head on combat. But he quickly discovered that he was highly skilled in setting traps and thinking two steps ahead of his opponents, giving him an edge against unfavorable odds. However, this was not enough to make him a great ninja on his own, only enough to let him keep up with the other students in the academy.
He graduated to become a genin at the age of 12 and was assigned a team with his two comrades, Ayane Saraya and Tsurugi Takumi. On their first mission together, they came in contact with an enemy squad from the Sand, and were forced into combat. In the resulting battle Ayane was badly injured and their sensei was killed, but that was unimportant. What was important was the weapon the enemy team’s squad leader had used. Puppets. They were incredible weapons, tools which could provide him with the edge he needed to become one of the greatest ninjas of the mist. Upon their return to the village, Ayane was hospitalized and he and Tsurugi were put on leave until a new sensei could be procured for them. There was no rush, as Ayane would have to recover before they could move out again anyway, meaning they had a month to do whatever they wanted. Tsurugi went off and did his own thing, leaving Kaen on his own. For the next month Kaen would work on building his own puppet and experimenting on it, attempting to improve his charka manipulation skills. Fortunately his skills lay in intelligence and charka manipulation, and it was only a matter of time before he had finally mastered the basic skills of puppet manipulation. A month after he had almost been killed by puppets, Kaen rejoined his team for their next mission, a new scroll in his inventory. At first his teammates were disgusted by his new technique, as it reminded them of what had happened earlier. But they would quickly come to accept the new member of the team, as Kaen seemed to become vastly more capable and reliable after adopting the puppet manipulation technique.
Two years would pass, and now two puppet scrolls were in Kaen’s inventory. His original model, which he had dubbed the Leviathan, and his new model, the Poseidon. The Leviathan had been built to serve as a close range combatant, a scout, and basic front line puppet. The Poseidon on the other hand had been built as more of a support unit, specializing in defense and quick long-range attacks, as well as a few “special” tricks which Kaen had built in. With his two masterpieces in tow, Kaen entered the Chuunin exam for the first time, despite his peers believing his puppets to be too weak for a real Mist ninja. To their surprise, Kaen would not only make it to the final round of the chuunin exam, he would actually win the first two rounds of the final tournament, only losing in the very end due to extensive prior damage to his puppets. Thanks to his impressive performance he was promoted to the rank of chuunin, thus beginning his climb to the top. He is currently on vacation, awaiting his first orders as a chuunin of the mist.

Mizu Kugutsu no Jutsu; Water Puppet Technique* Kaen creates a water clone and then attaches his puppet strings to the clone. By guiding it as one would a puppet he can increase the clones combat capabilities greatly, as well as giving him a makeshift puppet if his others have been rendered inoperable.
Saishuu Kugutsu Fujin; Final Puppet Seal* A powerful sealing technique which allows the bearer to seal an incoming jutsu or chakra based attack. The seal has been built into Poseidon’s right arm, thus allowing Kaen to circumvent most of the difficulty behind using the technique (the hand seals). However, this requires an amount of chakra equal or greater two what is being sealed, meaning it can be extremely taxing and risky to use, especially against higher level jutsus.
Saishuu Kugutsu Kaiin; Final Puppet Seal Release* The inverse of the Final Puppet Seal, this technique violently expels whatever has been sealed inside of Poseidon’s right arm. This technique requires little chakra as sealed material still retains its own chakra and momentum. Can backfire if interrupted though.
