This has long been my blight. I'm broke at the moment. But through about an hour of searching, I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. And it spake unto thineself, "Movie Gallery Assistant; Age 16+" And then there was...Hope. So yeah, I'm going to try and relieve my plague tomorrow by calling them and trying to get hired. So then I can at least have some steady income.
Relate your stories of wanting money to fund your music.

I hate needing money, although it's now imperative that I never find myself in that situation again since I moved out.
Good luck with getting that job. If it doesn't work out, do you have a craigslist site for your area? when I was looking for my new job, I watched the part time section everyday and contacted everything that looked interesting. It's like fishing, keep throwing bait out and eventually something will bite.

I didn't have that problem earlier, but this Tuesday I was let go from my job...it was one of those summer jobs, and apparently Tuesday was the cut off date so they could hire these lazy bastards who just complain and do aboslutely nothing (I had to show these guys around for two days >_<). So now, I'm in the unemployed boat. gonk

What I think is one thing I love about being a musician is the money side of things. Not because I enjoy having it to the point where that's the only reason I take part in music, but because you can earn your living doing something you love.
I play around a 30 mile radius of my home and do so at least 3 or 4 times minimum a week. So the more I play, the more money I get, and the more equipment I can buy, therefore being able to find bigger & better things to do/play at, thus getting more money still in this very continuously rewarding cycle called the music business.
And my name isn't even out there yet, so I feel it's only beginning. Who else can say that have a job like we are capable of having that can entitle them to love it more than life itself and still be paid well for it?
It started out mostly through volunteer work. Then each time I would play somewhere I would not only get better and feel more natural, and add new things to the sets, songs/effects/etc. My name would then start to be passed around to the point two years ago when I started to make money off of such said gigs.
Stress relieving, a hobby, and a lifestyle.
This, in short, is one big reason we as musicians rule!

I had two jobs, working at a candy store and an Italian market to fund my music and art expenses. Though, as happy as I am to have gotten fired from the market (the job was just way too people oriented for me, and the owner and I both knew it), it sets me back $120 a week. I still work at the Candy Store, but thanks to remodeling, we haven't had much business, and thus have had my hours cut back so much.
And there's this one Mexican worker, he ******** creeps me out. He won't talk to anyone else but me. I'm practically the only kid left working in the shop, my friend was moved to the warehouse, one girl is mostly working at her other job and the three other kids got moved to the downtown store. It sucks, because I work with a bunch of older ladies, and so he will go to me. No one else. Dear lord. I'm gonna get raped.

The guys in Slipknot are very talented musicians. Paul is one of the reasons I started getting serious about bass after I started. Two: My brother, not 6'3, but he is wide-shouldered and had long hair. He used to dress up for job interviews and he looked very classy, and he'd simply pull his hair back into a pony tail. If you don't look like complete trash, you might get away with long hair.

I'm also unemployed. I record most of my stuff for free, so there's no worries about paying recording costs. However, I still have to worry about other costs like replaicing strings and buying fast fret.
I guess it's the fact that I have almost no source of income. Besides mooching off the 'rents

I'm jobless. I use free recording software and instruments that don't require much upkeep. I eat ramen and drink generic juice. Living the life.
