She had heard that Biscuit had gotten a mare pregnant. Even heard that she had given birth to three lovely fillies. But she had yet to lay eyes on any of them, even her son.

She sighed, looking at the blue and green wolf that was by her feet. Keeping her head high, the palomino mare gave a soft nicker, raising an eyebrow.

He always seemed to sleep lately, and she wasnt sure why. Maybe it was the hidden heatwave that had hit them suddenly. Not giving warning. It was supposed to rain, or so had said the clouds the day before. Now it was hot, and the sun was as golden as her body.

She tossed back her mane, keeping her eyes clear and free of creme colored strands that made their way into her chocolate orbs.

Dang it. Life was sad lately.

She hadnt seen Tai in awhile, though she knew she would soon.. And she hadnt seen her children either.

Le Sigh. She wasnt used to not being needed. She had raised three foals, and now, found herself as useless as she did before the foals had demanded her attention and all ehr care.

What was she supposed to do with herself now?

"You always do that. Ya know, if you were to just sit here, under this nice shady tree.. You'd be fine. It'll put you to sleep, and no more sad Esperanza."

The blue wolf mused, partly out of annoyance at his partner. It was ridiculous. She was alway pouting now, and it wasnt right. Esperanza never pouted, not with life around her every day. But she had seperated herself from the others, and here she was pouting about it.

His eyes softened, as he saw hers hurt.

"They still need you, you know. Dont forget that."

How long had it been?

Well, she had seen her father only last week chittering about something to do with mares. Honestly, she'd never understood her father when he did that - unaware of his private life or his hobbies she didn't quite get that he rather enjoyed the companies of females. Just as well she didn't as she may have been scarred for life!

That being said, as she carefully picked her way across the rather open area she recounted her father's tales. He had spoken of a huge family and she had met many but there were some she didn't know. Granted, she had met her grandfather but where was her grandmother? Truly, the herd she came from never seemed to be easy to find - they all had to be awkward...but that was probably why they melded so well together.

Flicking her tail against her flank, she paused briefly to survey the area that was so far from the safety of her lake and smiled. In a way, this place was pretty but in others it was a little difficult to navigate...she was unsteady on her feet as it was, she didn't need hidden pot holes to make her stumble too!

Nevertheless, as she rounded the hill and allowed the soft breeze to tease at the fluffy mane she now possessed, she was perfectly recognisable as family. She was almost an inverted image of her father!

The Palomino mare, christened as Esperanza, gave the wolf a soft look. But she knew full well they were happy where they were.

Biscuit wasnt how she would have liked him to be, but she loved him nevertheless. He was just.. A stallion, and she knew, thats how most behaved.

Marahute had given her a hell of a time as a foal, but now seemed to be the quiet, kind soul she knew herself to be. But still.. something wasnt quite right about her..

And Tsa, with her lovely eyes, she hadnt seen in so long. She missed her daughter, she longed to see her again..
But as she sat and thought of her life, the sun shown on another.

A Palo colored Mare, with a.. very fluffy mane. The mare herself resembled her Biscuit in many ways, and even had some look of Tsa in the way her pattern was.

She stopped, and stood. Glancing at the mare and raising an eyebrow.

"Flit, who do you think that may be?"

Flit snorted, looking at the mare and back at Esper.

"I think ye be paranoid now.."

He said as he closed his green eyes.

She had two choices...

She could either tumble down the slop while no one was looking or she could pick her way down. It wasn't a very big slope and both would make her look positively ridiculous but there was nothing she could do about that. Tumbling just happened to be much faster. As she debated these two choices, she glanced about her immediate surroundings.

Trees, trees and more trees.

Her father had always taught her to be much more observant! So, she looked again and sure enough she discovered she wasn't alone. Inwardly she cursed, falling down a hill while oblivious to company was easier - falling down a hill while aware of company petrified her. She knew she was clumsy but she didn't want the world to know!

Canting her head to the side she continued to observe the mare for a while before becoming all to aware of one thing - that mares hair colour looked awfully familiar and so did those eyes. Maybe she was being silly but maybe she was one of the ever growing family she was becoming aware of?

Esperanza snorted at the wolf, casting him a glare that told him he should be nice. He was always so mean, sometimes she wished she could just n** him, just once.

But she lifted her chocolate gaze back to the mare. She noticed the hair color, and narrowed one eye. It was juts like hers. Just like Biscuits. She smiled. It had to be right? Or at least someone she would know?

She took a step closer, smiling with her motherly eyes. She was a calm mare. Sweet and kind, and always careful of others. She was much loved among many, as no one could truly dislike her.
She took another step. She stopped, just for a second, to assess what she should do.
Maybe this mare would think her crazy, and if that was the case, she was worried for her own sanity.

She saw the mare look at her too, and she knew, she had to get closer.

"Hello?"

Apparently Esper was just as observant as her grand daughter! Honey could only mentally chastise herself for being so rude as to stare and placed a small smile on her lips. Well, now she had been seen she might as well be polite - her family would be sorely disappointed in her if she wasn't polite. Actually, if they found out she could probably expect a lecture...not a long boring one, just one that was a gentle nudge in the right direction.

"Aye, afternoon!" Honey replied at last, the smile on her lips widening as the mare drew near her. Yes, she definitely looked familiar with those eyes. Her pelt colour was a little lighter than those she had met in the herd but those eyes were so recognisable... Honey had to wonder whether or not her suspicions were true but refrained from asking. It was silly to ask a stranger.

"Fine weather we're having, no?"

Esperanza smiled herself. What a delightful little mare.
"Ah yes. Very much so."

She wanted to ask the question, but again, she was fearing for her sanity.
It was just.. Odd that a mare look so much like family, and smell like family as well.

"My name is Esperanza. Who might you be dear?"

She asked, figuring that to be the best way to broadcast whom everyone was.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 12, 2007 12:36 pm

Her name? Ah yes, so did that mean she gave the full version or the short version? She'd never really figured it out, the etiquette and all that but after much contemplation she opted to introduce herself in the way she always did. She would have found it so much easier to be in the presence of water, cuddled into its embrace for support but she couldn't have everything in the world.

Esperanza?

She was fairly certain she'd heard that before...

"My name is Honeycomb but my father calls me Honey, everyone else does for that matter too!" She offered, canting her head to the side as she looked the mare up and down. Like Honey, she wasn't a very big mare but unfortunately, Honey was still the smallest - she was a midget to put it simply.

Wasn't her dad's mother called 'Esper'?

"You have a similar name to my Grandmother, but she's called Esper."

Esperanza raised an eyebrow, and cocked her head.

"Esper you say? Could that possibly mean you have a father named, Biscuit?"

If she was wrong, then again, and once and for all, she had proven herself insane, and unable to exist in the world of others apparently.

"I normally go by Esper, but I tend to make my first appearances with the name of Esperanza so the confusion is passed by everyone."

She smiled, looking at teh mare, and realizing how small the mare was. She was little, but this mare was so cute with her littleness.

It wasn't her fault she was a midget! She was the smallest of her family but then again...Lovey wasn't very tall either. Honey's genetics had just taken that height to the extreme and made her the smallest of the bunch. Not that she minded, it made for good conversation but sometimes it caused problems...for example, she found it hard to get over obstacles. Instead of jumping over bushes she usually had to go the long way round.

Nevertheless, kicking herself to attention the mare could only blink as Esper made reference to her father. So she had been right! This mare had known her father but did that mean...? She mulled over the words again and continued to stare at the mare - alright so it was rude to stare but she always did it while in deep thought.

Oh by the spirits, was this really her?

"Ye know me dad?" She asked at last, her accent exactly like her father's, "Aye! Ye must do if ye know his name and if yer called Esper then..." She gasped and waved her overly poofy mane out of her eyes, "Are ye who I think ye are?"

Esperanza laughed at teh mares response, and her eyes were kind.

"If you mean, am I your grandmother, then yes. I am who you think I am."

She tossed ehr own mane aside, giving it a little puff of breath as the shove didnt really move it much.

Giving a smile, she looked into the mares bright green eyes. Those must be the eyes of her mother, because no one in the family of Esper or Tai had green anything.

"Small world," Honey mused, it was the only response she could think of in the given circumstances. Having never even met her Grandmother it was more than a little surprising to just randomly encounter her in the middle of nowhere. Honey suspected this was because it was a rare time in which she trekked back to her herd lands as opposed to staying by the lakes.

...Something always ended up happening when she was coming home.

"Me Dad be sayin' a lot about ye," She offered at last, recalling how her father spoke fondly of all his family members, even his siblings. Granted, he'd never confessed to torturing one of his sister's mates but then he wouldn't...He knew Honey too well and she would have hid her potential mates for fear of their lives!

"But ye be awful hard te find."

She smiled. Liking the little ones accent, that reminded her so much of her Biscuit. Giving a nod, she spoke, even more kindly than she had before.

"Aye, that it is." She said.

"Your father and his family are awfully hard to find as well."

She was part of their herd, along with Marahute.. But honestly, she had never really belonged to the herd. She, more or less, was only there very rarely, as when she traveled, shed come back to no more herd.

"Your grandfather is there I assume?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the mention of Tai.

"I nae be seein' me grand father fer a good while!" Honey giggled and shook her head, thrusting the blonde locks from her eyes, "Ye see I rarely be comin' up this way, I like me lakes like me dad likes his forests - " She flicked her ears slightly at the ticklish sensation that her hair was causing. All in all, she knew her herd were there if she needed them but generally it seemed to be made up entirely of wanderers and adventurous spirits!

"Last I be knowin', he be out in the forests with his funny human," she had a point, he always seemed to be easy to find. Generally, he didn't wander far from his home, a home body if there ever was one he was probably even easier to find than her father was. That being said, she usually heard her father before she saw him.

"If'fn ye be lookin' fer me Dad he's usually up near the beaches...but I dinnae really know where me sisters be, they both have males te court!"

Her ears swiveled and she looked shocked.

"Arent they a little young to be courting any males?"
She shook her head, finally letting a grin seep through.

"Ah yes.. Same as my children. Your father wasnt old enough to have babies of his own, but his sisters are both courting nice stallions, so I guess, he is in his right."

She grinned.
