What game genre's do you feel should die and why?
I'll add a poll when games are mentioned.

I don't think any genre needs to die. However, there are genres that definitely need to see some innovation. Sandbox action games need to do something new, I'm am starting to get tired of GTA clones. Also, FPSs, I haven't played a halfway original FPS since Oddworld: Strangers Wrath. Big FPSs like Black, Killzone, and Halo. Black's big innovation is that stuff deterriorated when you shot it, sure it creates interesting cover options, but c'mon guys. Did Killzone innovate at all? I remember they messed with the camera to make it appear more like you're not just a floating gun, but I don't think they really did anything truly great. And Halo, while undoubtedly fun to play with friends, Bungie needs to make a new franchise that takes FPSs in a new, interesting direction.

tangocat777 Games based off of movies/TV shows/etc. True, but Transformers and Spider Man 2 were both great. But that's because the companies that made those games already had experience in the Video game industry.

Daxelman Turn Based RPG's. Its a Dead place, for Awful Games. All who agree Apple needs to die say "I!". Seriously, Don't make me destroy you. Well, I don't think that they should die, but FPS, or shooters in general, need to slow down. I'm seeing way too many shooters. I mean, it's the shooters that keep getting good reviews, right? Don't you think we need to change it up? I mean, pizza is delicious, but even I have gotten sick of it when we I had it every other day.

Games based on movies, tv, whatever. They need to die. point and click adventure games. They are evil & must be destroyed. kariokie games sports games. But that's just because I always want to miam the males I see playing some sport game on their psp >_< I dunno, I love FPS. I get them just to shoot things and blow stuff up. I loved killzone, it was refreashing after seeing so many shooters that are either WW2 based or are sci-fi in the nature of the firearms & superpowers if any.

I loved killzone, it was refreashing after seeing so many shooters that are either WW2 based or are sci-fi in the nature of the firearms & superpowers if any. Don't you dare take the name of point & click adventure games in vain. Have you played the good ones from back in the genre's heyday? Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, and the Monkey Island series (all, coincidentally, made by the genius that is Tim Schafer) were absolutely stellar and even today we have good ones coming out like the Phoenix Wright series and Hotel Dusk: Room 215 (not my fault that all the good ones today are on the DS...) Karaoke games are fun with other people around, but when you play karaoke games by yourself, it's kind of sad. It's not like playing Guitar Hero by yourself. And some movie/tv show based games can be good. Spiderman 2 was amazing, had me playing for months, just swinging around the city. Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was great because they didn't try to overcomplicate it, all you do is destroy stuff, but they really fleshed it out and made it very fun. What about The Godfather, I had the Wii version and I was more than happy to spend more than 30 hours on it. And Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (while the low point in the series) is awesome fun on the Wii because of the wand waving mechanics, and awesome everywhere because you get to play in a sandbox, streaming Hogwarts. Of course there are bad movie games, but there are also bad FPSs and RPGs and Adventure games, every genre has crap in it.
