color code ajali/ducky mudvane/tirokio It was a cold night, not unlike the nights before, but Ajali didn't care. The desert was strange, no doubt; it had hot, humid days and cold, windy nights. The only sanctuary from all of that was Temple, as it provided shade and shelter.
At the thought of shelter, Ajali realized she had never actually made herself a nest. Not that she needed one. She could stand to sleep behind a dune of sand, so long as it blocked her from the wind. She supposed she should find a place to make one, maybe close to a blackberry bush so if she got hungry in the middle of the day (because, let's face it, Jal was a night creature more than anything) she could just reach over and pluck a few before going back to sleep. But, if she was going to make a nest, it would have to be in the shade. One in the sun simply wouldn't do, not if she wanted to sleep without dying of heat exhaustion. She mused over where she would put it, and after a few moments of doing so, she decided she didn't need to think about it just that night. If it came down to it, she could make one another time. But for now, she was more interested in the stars.
Her eyes followed each pattern in the sky, mapping out the constellations in her head and spotting a comet every now and then. It was a nice feeling, being able to sit out on a nice, tall sand dune in the middle of the night and watch the stars. It was the story of the cosmos, right above her head, and if she read it right, she would know everything there was to know. Of course, she couldn't, but it was fun to dream. A grin played out over her lips and she began to hum. It was no tune in particular, just something she made up as she went along, because to her, the things that weren't planned were the best. Surprises were great, and holidays were just amazing. She honestly couldn't wait until the next time she met someone new. Life was a game to her. A board game, if you will. The board was her life, and the squares were the stages in it. Each little pawn was who she met, and she herself was a pawn just as they were, traveling to the end of that road of squares to find something greater. For now, the board only had herself and Wenceslas on it, the little green, red and white pawn next to the black and white one. She wondered if one day the board would be filled with different colored pawns, and if it would eventually overflow.
She giggled at the thought; that was complete nonsense.

Mudvayne shivered slightly as he strolled casually along the chilled and cracked terra below him. The stars hanging overhead created a soft glow which illuminated the desert, some of the more whiter sands glowing as if it was but a fire of thousands of diamonds. Even as the wind picked up to send the north winds across his rather ugly pelt, his dull and dark eyes could only stare in a hidden wonder at the workings of his god while the glittering sand floated by on the breeze.
It was nights like this which made his heart swell with pride in his god.
It seemed very few understood the message his god showed him, whispered into his very ears the sweet words. Malu were too busy these days, and often simply forgot to smell the roses. (Although he was aware of one which worshiped said flower god) It was a sad state when the inhabitants of the temple lost touch which the world that so many took for granted, be it the beautiful or the ugly.
As the night lingered on, the scerene views of the eve silenced the mud hued malu on his stroll. Perking his ears up, his head tilted to the side when a soft noise drifted to his senses....was that a melody? Slowly moving over the sand dune, his orbs scanned out onto the scene before catching sight of an ebony femme sitting atop of one of the small hills. He couldn't quite make out much of her, other than a pair of wings and what seemed like horn nubs....similar but unlike his own large antlers which adorned his head while his own demonic wings settled calmly along his back. Huffing softly, he shook his head softly and turned his body to leave when a thought seemed to strike him.
Why was it he was always running away from everything?
In all his years here, he'd yet to actually speak to another Malu. Well, he had, unfortunately that didn't go so well at all! Since then....solitude had been his life, yet was it always the wisest choice? Pursing his lips lightly, he took a small glance back before lifting his head to the glittering stars. Just like his god had always told him, Mudvayne was a diamond in the rough....too bad many couldn't see past his rocky exterior.
Closing his eyes, he tilted his muzzle back and began to sing in a soft, yet deep melodious tone. He knew he couldn't go over there and speak to her upfront, but maybe if she heard him singing....well, she'd either initiate or he would just go seeing she couldn't hear him. It was fool proof in his mind.
"I'm afraid it's been too long to try to find the reasons why, I let my world close in around a smaller patch of fading sky; But now I've grown beyond the walls to where I've never been, And it's still winter in my wonderland.
I'm waiting for the world to fall, I'm waiting for the scene to change, I'm waiting when the colors come, I'm waiting to let my world come undone..."

The size of the sky often intimidated her a little, if only because she never knew how big it really was. The sun hid behind the horizon every day, and came up behind her each morning, and no matter which direction she moved, the sky never ended. It was an awful big world, she knew, so maybe the sky was just as big, if not bigger! The thoughts were endless.
And yet, a the same time, they had their limits.
But she was far too into the moment to pay any attention to her own questions, far too absorbed in little world of star gazing and humming. She slowly began to sway in movement to her song, and before long it morphed into a vocalized piece, her gentle voice ringing out over the dunes and across the sands. The wind shifted, brushed up against her fur in a harsh manner and made her shiver, but she never did let that little song die. She was only making up words, using random words and real words in a melodious mix, her eyes slipping closed as she began to enjoy the night.
She hadn't noticed the male malu just behind the ridge at that point, because as she ran out of words, her voice dropped and the song turned into a hum again. But it didn't last long. From behind her came another voice, another song, but one she knew well. Her eyes slid open, and she turned to look over her shoulder, catching sight of a brown malu, and instantly, she was mesmerized. It was like Wence all over again. His colors were slightly hard to pick out, but from what she could see, he had a mask over his eyes, large brown antlers, and demonic wings, just like her own (which fluttered at the thought of another friend) and she grinned.
"I close my eyes and try to see the world unbroken underneath, The farther off and already it just might make the life I lead; A little more than make-believe when all my skies are painted blue, And the clouds don't ever change the shape of who I am to you.
I'm waiting for the world to fall, I'm waiting for the scene to change, I'm waiting when the colors come, I'm waiting to let my world come undone"
She had stood by that point, shaking herself off, before picking her way down the sand in a bouncy fashion (can you imagine her anything but?) and soon enough she was in front of him, a light smile crossing her lips. "You have a really nice voice, man. And a good taste in music, that's for sure," she said, her grin never ceasing to be there. "I'm Ajali. Who're you?"
@-@ I love him. I want his babies so bad xD

With brows raised as his song was finished with the lighter and more delicate vocals of the femme before him, he was amazed she even knew of the song which he sang! Turning around with a bit of hesitation, Mudvayne couldn't hide the suprise on his face when she came bounding across the sands from her dune to his. She sadly reminded him of the malu he'd lay witness to in the sublevels...yet even though her demeanor was frightening; she seemed to be nearly the opposite.
And then she spoke.
Such spunk, and fearlessness, heck, Mudvayne wished he had such traits. Yet he was left with his solitary indulgences, his self preservation and of course his aloof view of the world. Folding his ears back as she approached, he found himself staring into her illuminated green orbs; ones which immediately reminded him of fireflies....
Oh, right. Now would be a great time to reply.
"Thank you..." He spoke a bit meekly, biting his tongue as his head looked to his feet for a second. "Your voice is a wonderful pitch....elegant...airy..." He offered a bit of a offbalanced smile, hey, he was trying to be social; was he not?
"Ajali...." He echoed, testing the name on his tongue and found that he enjoyed the name and even more so that it resembled her kind nature despite her rather unique appearance. "Its...a very, wonderful name." Oh yes, she was definately a diamond which shone brightly for all to see, not confined by a thing. Infact, he'd go as far to say she was but a emerald, unique amongst the glow but completly her own at the same time. If only he was like that...but then again....would his god still speak to him if he could not see the ideals of which the divine blessed him with?
No. He certianly would not. "Mudvayne. My name is Mudvayne. It is a pleasure to meet you." As if on cue, his front legs buckling below him to kneel down in a quite regal greeting, yet it was all of the norm in the mind of Mudvayne. Folding his ears back up to listen to the night time world, the hazel hue'd malu glanced about their solitary world. "Its not often I see others at this time....most are usually sleeping in the confines of the temple..."
