The night had come and gone. The sun had risen all the way into the sky and started to shine. Still, Uzulu had not come for her and Fatia, and Tanana was surprised by him taking his time. Not that she knew him extremely well, but he had seemed anxious to throw the two of them at his sons.
Fatia may have still been sleeping, or cowering in the den, Tanana wasn't sure. She herself sat outside of it, staring off into the distance, rarely blinking. She wanted Fatia up and ready as soon as she could see Uzulu as even a speck. Patience was not a quality of his.

It wasn't Fatia who next emerged from the den, but Sikitiko. The sandy-colored cub ambled outside with a small yawn, blinking in the sunlight. Though she noticed Tanana, she took her time before approaching, shaking any bits of sand from her coat and having a good stretch. Her tail swished behind her as she bowed down, forelegs extended and paw muscles flexing.
After a moment, she straightened and rose, before unceremoniously plonking herself down next to her blue-eyed sister.

Tanana didn't favor any of her siblings or love any of them less. Even ones like Sikitiko, who she knew never believed her rantings that she would get them all set free one day. It was fair for her to think that way.
"Good morning," she greeted. "Did you sleep well?"

And even if she didn't believe in Tanana's dreams, Tana was still Siki's sister; she didn't dislike her, not by any means. Her siblings were all she really had, after all, besides their sandy home...and that wasn't theirs, not really.
"Morning," she returned. "Somebody was kicking." Sikitiko hadn't bothered to look and see who it was, had just scooted away and gone back to sleep. "You?"

"Probably Addae, she kicks a lot," Tanana recalled, resisting a groan. She'd gotten socked in the jaw at some point by her. Since it was fairly dark and she hadn't bothered opening her eyes to check, it may have been another, but since Addae was the one she'd fallen asleep by, she was sure she was the gulity party.
"I did." It wasn't a lie. The question was if she'd slept well, not if she'd slept long. Much of the night had been spent discussing the stars with Ure, and the early morning telling Fatia she had to be strong through all they were about to face. "I wonder what ridiculous things they'll have us do today."

Sikitiko nodded. "Yeah, prob'ly. Oughta just sleep next to somebody else, I guess." She certainly didn't want to sleep alone. That would be cold. "Maybe Fatia."
"I dunno," she mused, leaning to scratch behind her ear. Aah, that felt nice! "Dig around in the sand maybe."

Tanana doubted that. Fatia struck her as the type to curl up in a ball and just shiver the whole night. Out of fear, not cold, mind you. She really was pathetic, but Tanana didn't frown on her for it.
She idlely recalled the conversation she'd been thinking of before. About the stars. They had only been in this world a short while, yes, but it bothered Tanana it felt like there was a small, barely noticable distance between her and Sikitiko she didn't feel with the others.
"What do you think the stars are?"

"The stars?" Siki furrowed her brow, thinking about it for a moment - actually, mostly thinking about why on earth anyone would ask that. "I dunno, they're just...stars."
Tanana had picked probably her least imaginative sibling to ask that question. "Like...little not-hot suns, I guess."
It was just about as creative as she got.

"Mm." It was a noise of acknowledgement, not one of agreement or disagreement. She'd expected something like that from her. The same question had been asked to Ure, who had babbled about how they were 'love'.
They were all so different. Tanana didn't know if that was a good thing or not at the end of the day. "I figured," she said gently, and nodded politely, heading back to where she had been. "I'm going to wait for Uzulu."

"Alright," Siki allowed, rising again with another little stretch. "I'll be inside if you want me."
If Uzulu wanted her, she didn't doubt she'd hear it from their Master himself, and so he wasn't included in her statement. The cub started to pad back into the den, intending to find one of her siblings to sleep next to - and not Addae.
