~Table of Contents~ 1. Introduction and Plot Overview 2. Countries and Creatures 3. Classes, Races, and Factions 4. Quests 5. Rules 6. Approved Profiles Online games...Final fantasy...World of Warcraft...Guild Wars...City of Villians...our world is filled with MMORPGs. People enjoy playing these games because they allow for an escape for the harsh reality of our lives. They let people become something they are not for a time, a character that is beyond themselves. They possess powers that stretch the scope of human imaginations and fight creatures that do not exist even in the wildest places of our world. This is where our story begins...
~The year is 2019. The world of virtual reality has advanced. Technology has grown to the point that people can feel as if they truly are within the game. Every action they perform in the real world is translated through their character. They eat, sleep, and breathe in virtual reality. This, of course, has become a detriment to society. People no longer work or shop; they live inside the game. The game provides a system through which its players recieve nutrition, something like an IV. This, of course, costs money, but somehow the players find a way to pay for it.
Finding this to be a rather alarming situation, the creators of Ryoku have been trying to make ammends for their follies. They have sent agents to the homes of those who have found themselves addicted to Ryoku to attempt to restore their lives to normality. Of course, the players find these agents to be the ultimate enemy and have fought back against them viciously. Just as in virtual reality, the players of Ryoku also struggle against real life enemies.
The game is called Ryoku, a multilevel game created by Japanese producers. It is an MMORPG adventure game in which the player can choose from a variety of classes and races. They also face many strange and unique creatures in battles.
~Plot Overview~ The land of Ryoku is divided into four factions: Regnox, Lumina, Nihilus, and Deutas. Every citizen of Ryoku belongs to one of these factions. The division of the world into its four factions began many years ago when an evil legion of magical creatures and humanoids attacked the peaceful land. The army was led by the infamous witch Delvina, who aimed to take over the throne of Ryoku's Queen Elsbeth. The war was long and bloody. Elsbeth's forces held out as long as they could, but the war was lost. The good queen was taken into hiding, with only three people in all of Ryoku knowing the secret of her location. Delvina took the throne, her first act being the release of dark magic upon the world. Malignant creatures sprung up across the land, plaguing the peaceful citizens of Ryoku. At this point in history, heroes began to emerge to defend the people of Ryoku from Delvina's horrid creatures. Some of the citizens, however, were not so keen on defending their fellow folk. Delvina had a small sect of followers within the population who were greatly rewarded for their allegiance during the war. Delvina gave them magical powers beyond the scope of their imaginations, creating the first group of Tenerii. These dark mages spread terror and death throughout the land at Delvina's bidding, killing indiscriminately any who opposed their queen. Thus was formed the faction known as Regnox, the supporters of Delvina. Hearing of this organization, the heroes decided to form their own factions. The supporters of the lost Queen Elsbeth came together to form the faction they called Lumina, in honor of the light that Queen Elsbeth gave to the world when she was in power. Everything members of this faction do is for the cause of Queen Elsbeth's reinstatement and the fall of Delvina. Those that choose no alliance amongst the queens formed Nihilus, a faction dedicated to supporting oneself. Members of this faction believe that each person must take care of themselves and not rely on a ruler to make their lives better. They promote a government that resembles democracy, with no ruling monarch but rather a large council of men that would vote on the fate of the country. The final faction that was formed was called Deutas. A faction made of primarily clerics and priests, its members believe that the only true ruler is God. They promote the idea of a pope as a leader, under the pretense that he would be able to lead with the power of God. Those that belong to Deutas are often close or once belonged to Nihilus, as the both share the goal of deposing the queen.
When the game begins, the citizens of Ryoku are waging war against Queen Delvina, most wishing to dethrone her and return their beloved Elsbeth to power. The object of the game is to take part in a long adventure, functioning as a party with several other players, in which the evil creatures created by Delvina must be destroyed. The journey takes the adventurers across the land of Ryoku, through many dangerous trials and quests. Along the way, the adventurers must face Delvina's creatures in battle to protect the citizens of Ryoku against them. Certain special objects must be found and used to defeat Delvina when she is met in the final battle of them game. Players will be guided by several NPCs who are well-known figures in Ryoku. They will help with quests and other parts of the journey.

~Table of Contents~ 1. Introduction 2. Creatures and Countries 3. Classes, Races, and Factions 4. Quests 5. Rules 6. Approved Profiles ~Magical Creatures of Ryoku~
Demyons Demyons are small, quadrapedal creatures covered in black fur. They have no particular powers nor do they wield weapons. Resembling very small wolves, they fight only with their teeth and claws. They travel in groups of up to five. Low level adventurers are likely to run into Demyons.
Cretos Cretos are goblin-like creatures that wield discarded weapons, such as bent or broken swords. Sometimes they wield clubs or other bludgeoning weapons. They may also be seen wearing the discarded armor of an adventurer. Cretos are solitary creatures and are primarily nocturnal. Low level adventurers are likely to run into Cretos.
Riks Riks are shape changing creatures. They wield powerful magic that allows them to assume any shape or color they wish. Generally, a rik will choose a specific shape that he or she prefers and will most often be found in that shape. Their shape changing ability allows them to sneak up on adventuring parties. Riks are generally solitary creatures, but may travel with a life mate. Riks speak the common tongue very fluently. Adventurers of any level may find themselves fighting riks.
Gish Gish are the undead creatures of Ryoku. They are the animated corpses of any species, raised from their graves by a tenerius. They possess no magical power, but their skin is particularly difficult to penetrate or damage with a normal weapon. Gish travel in very large packs. Clerics may turn gish and cause them to run away. Aventureres of any level may run into gish.
Frehnia Frehnia are the fae creatures of Ryoku. They wield weak magic and travel in swarms. They have female forms and generally do not wear clothing. Their wings are transparent and have a glittering quality that allows them to be visible to the human eye. They will often attack parties of any size because of their strength in numbers. Some have sought to learn to speak the common tongue, and have succeeded in a very basic form. Adventurers of any level may meet frehnia.
Groons Groons are gigantic creatures that wield powerful and ancient magic. Groons are probably the oldest race to inhabit Ryoku. Unlike most species of giants, Groons are quite clever. They tend to horde treasure and may be very greedy. They tend to keep to themselves in their mountain abodes, but will interact with other races, especially if there is a bribe involved. They are solitary creatures and speak a basic form of the common tongue. Higher level adventurers will often face Groons.
Hrothyee Hrothyee are humanoid creatures with shimmering green skin. They rarely reach above five feet in height. They are amphibious creatures and possess strong magic. They generally wield tridents or spears and can be very agressive. Hrothyee are the most intelligent creatures in Ryoku and are able to speak the common tongue very well. They may join a party of adventurers, but only if it suits their purpose. Higher level adventurers will often run into Hrothyee.
Tenerii Tenerii are the most powerful of all the adversaries adventurers may meet in Ryoku. The wield extremely powerful dark magic: spells that cause decay, raise the dead, and poison enemies. They can raise very large armies of gish which they control to do their bidding. Tenerii always travel alone. They are often completely evil creatures and will only join a party if it suits their purposes. Only very high level adventurers must fight tenerii.
~Countries of Ryoku~
Ryoku is essentially one large land mass surrounded by ocean. The world is divided into seven continents with only one being separated from the mainland.
Fenrir The island country is known as Fenrir. It is the land from which all the creatures of evil originated, Delvina's home country. It is isolated from the rest of Ryoku and players are generally not allowed to go there. The tenerii are the one exception to this, as Fenrir is their homeland. Demyons also hail from Fenrir. The headquarters of the Regnox faction are located in Fenrir.
Hest Hest is a farming country in the middle of the mainland. Most of the residents of Hest are either peasants or squires working to become knights in service of what would usually be Elsbeth's kingdom. Currently, however, most of the knights and squires are in hiding, not wishing to lend their services to Queen Delvina. Low level adventurers often find themselves journeying into Hest to accomplish quests.
Reylor Reylor is the country in which Elsbeth's castle was located. It is generally known to be more of a wealthy continent, being the home of most of the nobility of Ryoku. Many knights also lived in Reylor at one point, but fled when Delvina took over. Adventurers will find many of their contacts to help them on their journey located in Reylor. The headquarters of the Lumina faction is located here. The mages' citidel is also located in Reylor, as most mages come from affluent families.
Yin Yin is a desert country. Nomadic tribes inhabit this country, subsiting on basic survival skill, eating small reptiles and other animals that manage to live in the harsh environment. Riks generally make their home in Yin, preferring to make their home in a deserted land. Only very high level adventurers journey into Yin for quests because the conditions are so harsh. The headquarters of the Nihilus faction are located on the very edge of the desert of Yin.
Korei Korei is the equivalent of the Vatican City in our world. Most of the clerics and priests hail from this country. Korei is very civilized, most of its cities are fairly paved in gold, well-built marble buildings housing the places of holy study and worship. This country is also well fortified, though it has never been attacked. They have increased their defenses since Delvina became queen, fearing she would attempt to oppress them. Korei is the headquarters of the Deutas faction.
Yamigori Yamigori is the mountainous country of Ryoku, the home of the Groons and the Cretos. This country is the coldest place in all of Ryoku, the only part of the world where adventurers will find snow. Many adventures will take players far into the country of Yamigori, it's ancient mountains housing many rare and valuable treasures that adventurers desire. The mountains also possess certain magical powers that can be acquired by the magically inclined of Ryoku, and thus mages often journey there to find enlightenment. Yamigori is sparsly populated, although there are a few towns in the lower mountain regions.
Shinsa Shinsa is the forested country of Ryoku, a verdant land of prosperity. Frehnia, Hrothyee, and all elves make their homes in Shinsa. It is a heavily populated country, with many large cities. Unlike Korei, these cities have an air of creativity to them, many of the buildings being painted with swirling, arabesque designs in many colors. Shinsa has also built up their fortifications because of Delvina, but they welcome most adventurers. A tenerius may have a hard time entering any city in Shinsa

~Table of Contents~ 1. Introduction and Plot Overview 2. Creatures and Countries 3. Classes, Races, and Factions 4. Quests 5. Rules 6. Approved Profiles ~Classes~ Bard Bards are talented performers that utilize music and poetry as mediums for their magic. They are generally diplomatic characters and are often very pretty.
Cleric Clerics are skilled in divine magic, generally functioning as the healers for the party. They are weaker and wear less armor so as not to inhibit their magic use, so they usually participate in melee combat. They do, however, wield a weapon according to which god they worship.
Druid Druids are greatly in tune with nature. They use this communion to wield natural magic and often some divine magic as well. They occasionally wield weapons, but generally prefer to use their powerful nature magic. Oftentimes they are seen in the company of an animal familiar, usually a hawk or a wolf.
Fighter Fighters are powerful adventurers that possess no magical powers. They wield either a slashing or a bludgeoning weapon, and often wear very heavy armor. Fighters are usually at the forefront of an adventuring party and usually find themselves in the middle of melee combat.
Mage Mages are magic users that may either be humans that have studied to learn the arcane arts over a long period of time or naturally magic folk, like elves, that learn arcane spells on their own. Mages are the most powerful of the magic users because they possess the ability to learn both offensive and defensive spells.
Monk Monks are martial arts masters skilled in self-control. They wear very little armor to avoid inhibiting their movements. They usually fight hand to hand combat, but sometimes they will be seen wielding a staff. They often provide a wise and objective perspective in a party.
Ranger Rangers are skilled trackers and wilderness survivors. They are excellent party leaders because of their natural knack for navigation and survival. Generally, they wield a bow, tending to fight from a distance rather than getting involved in melee. Like druids, they are sometimes accompanied by an animal familiar, especially a horse.
Rogue Rogues are stealthy creatures, skilled in the arts of stealing and sneaking. They can pick locks and pick pockets, hide and move silently. They never wear armor heavy than leather, as it would interfere with their silent movements. They generally wield small piercing weapons, like daggers or shiruken.
Paladin Paladins are the strongest of the fighting adventurers. They wear heavy plate mail armor and ride huge war horses. Their quest is to act always for their god, and they are generally lawful characters. They have the ability to cast some weaker healing spells, and may be more powerful spell casters if the party does not have a cleric.
Tenerius Tenerii are generally enemy NPCs, but they may also function as player characters. They are strong dark mages, something like necromancers. They have the ability to raise armies of gish, and occasionally raise dead party members. They generally will not join a party, but if their self-centered goals are aided by joining, then they will do so. Tenerii as player characters are somewhat weaker than they are as NPCs, since they are the most powerful NPCs in the game.

~Table of Contents~ 1. Introduction and Plot Overview 2. Creatures and Countries 3. Classes, Races, and Factions 4. Quests 5. Rules 6. Approved Profiles ~The Rules~ [please follow them!]
- This is a literate RP. You must post descriptively and no one-liners. However, if you can't always think of an entire novel for each post, don't worry about it.
- Please post in complete sentences. No ** will be allowed to denote actions.
- Correct grammar is greatly appreciated. I understand that we are not all grammar geniuses and occasionally we find ourselves making mistakes. All I am asking for is an honest effort.
- Romance is allowed, even encourage, but please keep it PG-13.
- You must post at least once a week. If you post any less often than that, we will assume that you have dropped out of the RP and your character will be killed.
- If you wish to kill another character, please PM that character's role-player and ask if it is alright.
- No god-moding. This is a real-time RP, meaning that we will not skip from day to day. Also, every character needs to take a hit once in awhile, and not every strike from your character will land perfectly.
- PM all profiles to me with Ryoku in the subject. The format for profiles is below.
-Please do not post until I approve your profile. Any posting before that time will result in your post being deleted as spam. If you like my RP idea enough to tell me about it, please PM me rather than posting in the thread.

~Table of Contents~ 1. Introduction and Plot Overview 2. Creatures and Countries 3. Classes, Races, and Factions 4. Quests 5. Rules 6. Approved Profiles Gaian name: LadyFireCat Real Life Name: Mira Lockes Ryoku Character Name: Nettle Age: 18, 16 Gender: Female Class: Rogue Race: human Personality: Mira is usually confident in her ability to steal almost anything, but if she fails she gets tight-lipped and will spend most, if not all, of her time on trying to steal the item. She's a stubborn woman and gets lonely at times. When that does happen she goes into town to talk for a while. Contrary to her outgoing traits, she's shy with anyone she doesn't know closely and is quiet around them until she can get used to them. She has a temper that only shows to her friends; her aquaintances and strangers usually find themselves on the recieving end of a cold shoulder, while her enemies get cold insults and daggers thrown at them. Appearance: Deciding that she wanted to keep some ties to the outside world, she fashioned her in-game appearance to almost match her real appearance. She has long, brown hair trailing down to her waist in the real world, In the game world she cut it down to shoulder length where it kept out of her way and ended in ragged edges. Her eyes are a deep green, set into a pale, thin face with a few crooked teeth. Out of the game, she used to have a habit of wearing skirts and wide sleeved tshirts. In game, she basically wears the same thing, except she'd switch them with black pants and shirts whenever she needed to steal something. Mira will usually wear slippers to muffle her footsteps, but will wear knee length boots when walking through a swamp or another. She has only one pair of earrings that she will wear all the time, a plain silver anklet, and an emerald amulet around her neck.
Gaian name: Shtona Real Life Name: Ashton Ryoku Character Name: Shtona Age: RL:17 IG:24 Gender: Male Faction: Lumina Class: Fighter Race: Human Personality: In real life, Ashton is a very outgoing kinda guy. A little crazy, but all around he's a nice guy. As Shtona though, he takes his time with things, thinking a lot before acting. On the outside he keeps pretty quiet, only saying what needs to be said and listening intently to others. While he keeps a calm appearance on the outside he's thinking and processing information, remembering what he believes is important and forcing himself to forget frivilous information. He can be cold towards those he thinks to be foolish, but he never hates anybody. He'd give his life for a friend or party member in a heartbeat. He'd been ready to die for a long time... Appearance: RL: IG: He's a hard-looking guy. The kind of man you'd think to have been to jail more than once. He stands about 5'11" with short blond hair that's been spiked back to keep his head cool when he fights. He has bright green eyes that are always glancing around, taking in information. His armor is mid-weight, made mostly of leather with white and gold colored armor covering vital parts (joints/chest/shins/etc.) He carries a longsword on his left hip and a lance in his right hand. The lance can be broken down into two pieces so he can store it on the side of his pack in tight places.
Real Life Name: Tom Black Ryoku Character Name: Cobalt Age: rl: 14 game: 20 Gender: male Faction: Lumina Class: Ranger Race: Hyrothee Personality: He is quite distant, will talk to people if he is spoken to but is usually quiet and he is always calm Appearance: ingame: outgame:
Gaian name: A Pocket Full Of Mumbles Real Life Name: Gregory Sampson Ryoku Character Name: Thalian Age: real life: 17, game: 28 Gender: Male Faction: Nihilus Class: Mage Race: Elf Personality: Upon first encountering Thalian, three observations come to mind: he is tall, he is talkative, and he's more than a little neurotic. There is no cool facade with this elf; no, unlike the majority of his race (which seem to exude a calming sense of omnipotence), Thalian is twitchy at the best of times, though it may take a moment to realize that behind his sometimes cold staring gaze he is half-mad. But just because he's talkative does not mean Thalian has shed all the wisdom of his race. Not by any means, in fact; he is quite adept at observing things with sharp eyes and keen wit, though one wouldn't guess it from his continually babbling mouth. He has a great hatred for dirt and grime; a particular hindrance, one can imagine, when one lives in a medieval fantasy land (a fantasy land that doesn't necessarily prioritize hygiene).
Gregory, however, is an extremely quiet and sullen boy. Though his character retains his almost frantic need of cleanliness, there is little else they have in common; Thalian is all Gregory wishes to be (which is the point of the fantasy altogether, isn't it?). The boy often yearns to be beloved, though he pushes people away with his blustery personality as Thalian. Deep down, both elf and boy wish to have that deep sense of belonging; misplaced or ill-earned as it may or may not be. Appearance:

Gregory; is short (5'4") and sickly. Often scowling.
Thalian; is tall (6'2") and spindly with ropey muscles. Often smiling in a mildly nervous fashion or staring into space.
Gaian name: Denko Real Life Name: Matthew "Matt" Long Ryoku Character Name: Kai Hawthorne Age: Real life: 18, In game: 21 Gender: Male Faction: Nihilus Class: Fighter Race: Human Personality: Kai is a natural leader, which can explain why he's a fighter. He loves to be at the front of a fight, landing the most hits. Satisfaction, for him, always comes from a fight well done. While he may be outspoken and brave, he knows his place and won't try to be the leader if someone has already assumed the role. One of his downfalls is that he doesn't know his limits very well and will often rush into things without thinking them through, even if likes to think he's intelligent. Kai is not very dilligent, and is often discouraged when things consistently don't go his way. His competitive nature also brings out the sore loser in him, as he can almost never accept defeat. He tends to fight suicidally, ignoring injuries and pushing himself very far, further than most people will go. But that's not always a good thing, because doing so can get him injured if he's not especially careful. Appearance: Real life: In-game: (Note: This is a chibi version of Kai, he isn't actually this small. This is just the best picture I have of him.) This shows what is under his armor as well. His armor looks like this, but he usually doesn't wear the helmet.
Matthew tried to make his character Kai look very similar to himself, and so there are not many differences between the two. The main difference is that Kai is a little taller than Matthew. Matt is 5'8" and Kai is 6'1".
Gaian name: Evenescent Real Life Name: Miranda Ryoku Character Name: Eve Age: 16, 19 Gender: Female Faction: Regnox [xD someone has to take evil's side] Class: Rogue Race: Half Elf Personality: Eve is usually quiet and keeps to herself. She has a slight bit of a rebellious side, that ocassionally slips out, and she loves to take risk. She has a bit of a bad habit of talking to herself, since no one really takes note of her presence or cares for her. When no one is looking, she wanders off to go 'study' other people, and when it comes to her 'work' she tries not to let her emotions get in the way. All and all, she's a slightly good girl that's on the wrong side. Appearance: [Out of Game]
[In Game]
Gaian name:Freya_Mykmak Real Life Name: Wren Ryoku Character Name: Katriel Age: Real Life: 17 In Game: 17 Gender: Female Faction: Deutas Class: Cleric Race: Rik Personality: Katriel, who often goes by Kat, is very optimistic. She believes in a basic goodness of other people and is often quick to trust, which sometimes gets her in trouble. She is a peaceful creature, and occasionally feels a great sadness about the war that rages in Ryoku. She lends her powers to the party of adventurers simply becuase she wants the death to stop and wishes to end Delvina's regime.
Wren is dissatisfied with the world. She is often quiet and mysterious, having a brooding quality about her. She hasn't got many real life friends, but only by choice, for the people at her school think she's very interesting. None of them meet Wren's standards, and thus she ignores them. The boys especially find her irresistable, which just annoys her more. Wren loves her online friends because even though they are just playing characters in a game, they seem to have so much more demention than people in real life. Appearance: Real life: In game: [her favorite appearance]
Gaian name: alienboy1196 Real Life Name: Ty Yuhi Ryoku Character Name: Yuhi Age: 13/ 8 Gender: Male Faction: ? Class: Bard Race: Human-Elf Personality: Ty and his character Yuhi are always happy, bright, outgoing, and talk way too much. Appearance: Out-Game: In Game:
