Woha'li made her way out of earshot of where her mother was sleeping. Oh, sure, Binti was quick to remind that she wasn't really their mother, and that their mother had died giving birth to the five cubs who drove her near-crazy...but to her, that was good enough. For all her somewhat gruff demeanor and irritable temper, the lioness was fiercely protective, and more affectionate than one might have expected.

It was for this reason that Woha'li was sneaking out in the early hours before dawn--she might be named for the eagle, but Binti had eyes like a hawk, and if she'd waited until after she'd awoken, the likelihood of her getting to try ANYTHING fun without a full-grown lioness peering over her shoulder was about nill.

Flicking her tail from side to side, she pounced a beetle that scurried between the blades of tall grass, rolling with it held firmly between her forepaws, a (hopefully) fearsome growl emitting from her throat. Finally, content that she'd suitably subdued her 'prey', the youth lowered her head, gnawing at the tough carapace. A rush of empowerment flowed through her when her small, sharp teeth pierced it--victory was hers! Dropping the now-motionless insect to the ground, she rolled onto her back, growling in contentment. One day, she would hunt, for larger things than insects!
