As the days got warmer and the sun remained hovering above her head longer, although often behind dark storm clouds, and Kizalia felt that tingling in her toes again. Although she may not have resembled her mother completely, she had her mother's blood. It ran through her veins and made her jittery to explore at almost all times. This was even more true in the summer heat, the warmth causing her heart to race faster and her mind to switch from thought to thought more quickly. Stretching her brown body slowly she stood from her spot beside a mossy rock.

The ground was muddy and soft beneath her feet; she could tell a storm had passed through the night before, and it seemed more storms were on the way, dark grey shadows loomed on the horizon.

Shaking the mud from her claws she walked a few steps forward. She wanted to find someplace new, and soon. This weather, this place, still didn't bode well with her, even after all this time. She wanted to leave, get away. Really though, she needed her family. Torn, she paced in circles beside the rock, her silent, grey friend. If a rock can stay here and be happy, why can I not? Growing angry with herself, she trotted away toward the water.

Hauzu'l-Kausar lay at the water's edge, having a lazy drink. Not being a vain lion by any means, he didn't mind the mud that clung to his legs, belly, and sunny mane. The hunter was largely content to live in the lands of the Kusini'Mwezi, where his father had left him to grow up somewhere safe, rather than as a wanderer. Al-Hattal had once promised his son he would return to see him one day, but Hauzu was long grown, and the promise had yet to be fulfilled.

It was a fact that lingered in the back of his mind, especially when his paws began to twitch with the want to wander as they did now and then. There were aspects of that life he found himself missing more and more lately.

Approaching the muddied shore, Kizalia watched the small array of creatures that were there. Some birds perched quietly, something, probably a rabbit, ran off into the distance, and a another lion lay leisurely along the shore.

She hopped from foot to foot as she stood for a moment surveying, only stopping to sip from the cool waters. She eyed the lion who sat near her. She wasn't suspicious of him, as she had been of many others (especially those of red and black coloring who she believed to be Firekin), but more interested. She had not met many lions, and those she had met had managed to surprise her. Would he do so too? She silently inched closer to him, keeping her eyes toward the water to seem inconspicuous.

Lost in thought, he gazed off into the distance with rememberings and imaginings of the places he'd travelled as youth alongside the father he would always love, despite Al-Hattal's initial reluctance to be anything of the sort and eventual giving up of his son. Hauzu'l held no bitterness in his heart for the black-pelted lion, especially as he was coming to understand as he grew older.

This pride had been kind to him, he had grown well and safely in its embrace, but every breeze pulled at his heart as it blew through his mane, drawing him to look with longing in the direction the wind flew.

Caught up in his thoughts as he was, he didn't notice that he had company until he felt that peculiar prickle of the feeling of being watched. Blinking the haze from his bright eyes, he turned his head to have a curious look at whoever it was.

It was a cub! Well, not a cub cub, but close enough. "Hello," he said carefully, though amiably. "Nice morning, isn't it?"

Her ears perked forward at his voice. He sounded nice enough, not like a creature that would cause her harm. She gave a small smile, one that didn't say "I'm over excited and really want to meet you!" but more of a "Nice to see a being around other than myself."

Kizalia lost eye contact with the male, looking out to the side quickly. "It is indeed!" She spoke cheerfully. "One of the nicer mornings as of late." She thought it was slightly strange to find such an open and friendly male, even if he was a bit dirty. Many were somewhat standoffish, and often unwelcoming to younger lions. She heard from her mother before that she ought to be weary of other creatures, but she never really took it to heart. This situation was similar.

"Are you a member of the pride? Or are you just passing through? Or, better question, who are you?" Kizalia sat down by the edge of the water not far from the male, wrapping her tail carefully around her paws.

The feeling was mutual - Hauzu'l hadn't seen anyone but his serpent friends, Zuri and Safi'gamba, in quite awhile. At the juvenile's questioning, he nodded. "I am a member. Have been since I was about your age, I think."

Close enough, anyway. "Hauzu'l-Kausar," he answered with a nod. "And you?"

She nodded at him. So he was a member, less of a threat then. She wasn't suspicious. Members of the pride were generally well tempered, and even more so to younger lions she had felt.

"I'm Kizalia'buga." She said cheerfully, a bit more cheerfully than the rest of their conversation had been. "... But you can call me Kizalia, if you'd like." She added with a smile.

"Kizalia, then," the lion said, nodding. "And you can call me Hauzu'l - the whole thing's an awful mouthful, I know. Don't know why my dad picked it, really."

There was still something very youthful about Hauzu'l; he still hadn't quite grown up. There were too many questions in him still, too much he didn't know that he needed to know. Things he'd probably never come to know if he stayed here.
