She was resting her paws and eyes now; they had grown heavy after the conflict with her mother the day before. So many things moved through her mind as she jerked her head back onto the moist earth below her. She couldn’t help but feel trapped and isolated... and even her own mother didn’t help her.
She felt like the walls around her were closing in and soon she would be crushed and unable to continue forward in her life. Something was holding her down... something she couldn’t quite explain. She felt like life had passed her by and now felt like she was behind on everything she needed to do.
She needed guidance, anyone to point her in the right direction.

The Queen moved like a ghost through her beloved swamp, seeking out one of her Consort's nieces. Though she loved them all, and taught them the ways of the pride, seeing them often filled her sadness, for she could not help but think of Matope when she saw them. What had happened to him, even she could not see, and the pain of not knowing had never gone away.
She had loved him, just as she did Jabali, raised them from youth together, and together they had helped her begin anew. With the help of the brothers and Sehani, she had been able to return life to the swamp; but then Matope had disappeared, and Sehani had drifted away. Asali'jua hoped with all her heart that the young lioness she now sent to find her name would not follow in the footsteps of her parents; that she would, one day, return.
Approaching the youth where she lay, she paused a few feet from her, saying simply, "Sooleawa."

Lowing her head some the light eyed lioness nodded and turned, as if she knew who it was that spoke to her. She couldn’t really say a word at first, no, at first she simply gazed at the queen with worry filled eyes.
“Yes?”
Was all she could gather before moving herself to stand still. She didn’t know how to react! She damned her mother for never teaching her anything in life. A soft frown passed her muzzle as she sighed and looked away.
“Am I too far lost to do this my queen? Can I still go out into the world all on my own? I fear it.”
She felt so weak saying all of this like she was- but.. she couldn’t hold it in any longer. She knew her sister must have felt the same. They were the only ones to have stayed after all. The rest of the family just... vanished.

"Only you can know that," she answered gently, "And some things you can only know by doing." Sooleawa was the very first of the any of the children she'd sent away to pause, to question. It was different, but not necessarily a bad thing. "Would you truly stay here, behind all the others who have gone, for fear of doing and knowing?"
"You could, of course, but do you really want to be the child Sooleawa forever?"
