So we got an me an Inspiron 1501. Like less then a month ago.

So what's happened with this bad boy so far?

If I leave the computer on for like, 5-7 hours the screen will at some point way late in the game just go a solid color or stripes all over. (i.e. - White and grey vertical stripes, all blue, all white.) Completely unresponsive, only way to get it to respond is press the power off button, then power it back up. So we called Dell tech support.

"Install this brand spanking new driver for your video card!"

Okay. Oh guess what, it happened again.

"Ok we'll send a field technician to your house to put in a new LCD pannel."

Okay. Oh, guess what, it happened again.

"Ok we'll send a field technician to your house to replace your motherboard and RAM."

Well that'll probably happen some time next week.

But I'm going to be calling Dell again today ANYWAY cause guess what I found out?

"Error 2131" is what you get if you try to burn CDs on this computer with iTunes. And apparently this is like a, "Dell put a shitty cd thingy in mah computer so I can't burn with iTunes but I can with other programs," problem from what Google tells me. ********. But it's 100% true cause I'm listening to something I just burned with another program.

scream

Never mind me, I'll just be in the corner cussing out Dell tech support, life, etc and calling on the dark powers of hell to damn the nads of whoever put this bad b***h together. Cause this is ridiculous. We've had more problems with this Dell then we did with the $600 Sam's Club laptop we bought 4 years ago (with the wear and tear exception 2 years in of the power connector needing fixing and the eventual, "ok our fans just don't keep things cool so it over heats and shuts down," thang.) :Scream:

I feel your pain. My Dell laptop needs a new battery because it can't hold a charge to save its life. When I searched the info on the battery, I found out there was a recall. =/ I never knew. So I'm still looking for a new battery for my laptop, and it's been dropped twice and holds up pretty well. I broke the plastic around the USB port, and the plastic around the fan was broken before I bought it (used). The screen didn't even work at that point, but hey, I had a laptop.

Damn thing also doesn't have an ethernet card, so I've been looking to fix that problem, potentially, with a port replicator. It's all shiney with two USB ports, mouse and keyboard connection, and ethernet capabilities.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5000.

I guess it's a good think I jumped the gun with getting my computer instead of ordering a Dell. But I would have ordered one of the slightly more expensive Inspirons.

Supposedly, your problem has to do with the brand of CD drive. Although, it seems kind of retarded for Dell to put glitchy drives in their computers.

Why didn't you listen to us?

Man, just get a new computer. It's not worth this hassle. D:

Cause it's a new computer and it cost her too much to just throw it away.

My Dell PC hasn't run into any problems so far. It's just that the graphics card isn't very hip for MMORPGs, but I don't do those really, lol.

But my sister's laptop sucks a**. I don't know what kind of Dell it is, but that laptop and Veoh.com do no go together, lmao.

Yeah that's what I'd read.

Given the hassle to get all mah music and files on it and install the programs I like on it and that we purchased a tech support package for 2 years and what Mar said it's absolutely worth it. Cause Dell's paying for the tech support hours, for the new LCD, and for the new stuff they're gonna replace. Considering that all that stuff is probably more expensive then what we spent on the service plan (and whatever else'll break in the next two years) oh yeah it's so worth fixing it this way. Cause other then that it's an AMAZING computer.

We've bought Dell PCs before for years and those have run amazingly well. We have one that's pushing 8 and still in pretty good shape considering I went through a phase where I installed a bunch of programs and thought "uninstall" meant "delete the folder the program's in." It's the laptop's that Dell's having trouble with...
