The sun glanced off the many parked cars and beat down on the heads of pedestrians on the streets. It caught in the strands of some bright red hair as the owner turned her head and looked out from under the shade of the umbrella attached to her table. She was supposed to be meeting a friend for lunch at this cute little cafe and for once she had arrived first.
Kylie yawned and looked down the street to where she could just barely see the store front for "Descending Angels". Maybe they should go back there afterwards? Miyu was going to need clothes at some point and surely Konstantine's would too.
Waving away the waiter for the third time she continued to wait for her friend and leaned back in the chair, enjoying the heat that others hated so much. Today it was a tank top kind of day, black, with tight jeans and a studded belt, completed with black shiny heels. Admittedly, her feet hurt already, but so was the price of heels.

Behind rose tinted sunglasses Konstantine gazed out to the world around her. Dante, her brother, had offered to give her a ride to the cafe he worked at, seeing as she was to be meeting a friend. The interior of the black Fastback was cool, so much so that Konstantine felt a chill run up the base of her spine. Unlike her brother, Konstantine enjoyed the summer afternoons slick with heat and humidity. And when the car pulled to a stop she ruffled her elder brothers hair and made for the shaded tables. "Thanks Dante."
The heat washed over her like a tight embrace, comforting the chill in her skin. She did not have to look far to find Kylie, her red hair standing out like a beacon, especially with Konstantine's pink sunglasses heightening the color. Her gold bohemian sandals shone in the sunlight, flip-flopping against the gravel below her. Such days drove her from her black boots and into the familiar comfort of sandals. Draped over her slender form was a blue, hooded Adidas soccer jersey and a short jean skirt. Easy and comfortable.
Sliding beside Kylie, she tilted her head to the side with a lazy smile. "Had to pick the cafe my brother works at, huh?"

"Maybe your brother shouldn't be so cute." Kylie grinned back, playing of course. They had joked for years that they should be sisters but Dante wasn't exactly her type.
Crossing her legs, she stretched in the summer heat and smiled. "So did you ever open that angel egg of yours? I think it's about time we started comparing angels, no?" She reached into her messenger bag and pulled out Miyu gently, placing her on the table. "I feel so silly walking around with a doll sometimes then I remember that I can use it to fight and feel better. They have some awesome new outfits at the store this week!"

Konstantine rolled her shoulders, "I wouldn't know."
When Kylie asked about her angel Konstantine nodded her head, pulling out the silver and red haired doll that resided in her oversized bag. "Ophelia, light weight and speed based." Konstantine propped the doll on the table, straightening the kerchief's wrinkles from the fabric. The skull was small, but it stood out in the shining sun, twinkling against the frames of her sunglasses.
Moments after Dante showed up with a Mountain Dew and shirley Temple in his hands, placing the shirley temple before Konstantine and the Mountain dew before Kylie. "Playing with your dolls?" Dante smiled through his dark red bangs, taunting his sister and her friend.
"You said you liked her, piss off." Konstantine elbowed her brother in the hip, resorting to henceforth ignore him. As she did such, he walked away smiling.
"You said something about clothing?"

Kylie grinned at Dante as he set her Mountain Dew done. Raising it up to take a sip she winked at Konstantine. "And this is the reason I picked this cafe."
Setting her drink down she reached out and moved Miyu next to Ophelia. "This is Miyu. Medium build with an emphasis on speed."
About then the clam chowders arrived and Kylie rolled her eyes. "Wow Dante, on top of everything today aren't you? Anyways...yes, I think our poor little girls are going to need some proper clothes to fight in and knowing you, I thought I would wait for your opinion before settling on one."

Whenever Kylie came to the Gainnes household, she'd drink most of the Mountain Dew they had in stock, both Konstantine and Dante had learned that it was her preferred drink, and neither ever asked her what it was she wanted to drink. It was always Mountain Dew, well, almost always.
"I'm sure." Konstantine winked back, her eyes glittering an odd shade of purple behind the rose tinted lenses. Taking one of the cherries from her drink, she popped it off the stem, which was promptly thrown at Kylie.
"Miyu, huh?" Konstantine nodded her head, running a finger across the dolls red-orange hair. "Yeah, hopefully they have something that doesn't look like a complete disaster." Ophelia was perfect in her eyes, yet she was not yet sure on how to dress her.
"Maybe I'll give Ophelia hot pants and a football Jersey." Konstantine giggled. "Seeing as it's so fitting for Hamlet's sweetheart."

Kylie ate her clam chowder, enjoying each bite as Konstantine talked. Most of the people around them thought it was odd to see two girls eating hot soup in the middle of this heat wave, especially with dolls perched on their table next to them, but none said anything. Kylie was a creature of habit and when she settled on something she liked then it was hard to convince her to do, or order, anything but what she was fixated on at the moment. For right now her drink was Mountain Dew, appetizer was chowder, and game was Angelic Layer.
"Indeed. Hopefully there's something decent. Some of them are so frilly it makes you want to fight them just to prove how ridiculous they are for fights. And then you get the ones that are all function and no style...makes me feel bad for the angel."
Reaching over, she carefully ran a finger along Ophelia's hair. "Very nice. I didn't even think of highlights. I don't think it would have fit Miyu anyways....but it is a nice look."

"Probably not. Ophelia's got that special style." Konstantine sipped at her drink before she inclined her head towards Kylie, "though I like that shade of red."
Konstantine soon followed suit, savoring the taste of her chowder, enjoying the warm sensation as the food hit her throat. She'd not eaten since the previous night and the fact only served to make the satisfaction of eating that much greater.
A brief period of silence ensued, both Konstantine and Kylie busy eating their lunch. As Konstantine ate, she looked to Ophelia, wondering how she'd dress her. She'd seen hideous outfits with protruding shoulder pads and metal fixtures, immediately after seeing them she'd vowed not to dress her doll in anything like that.
"I have no idea how to dress her, any ideas for Miyu?"

Kylie finished her chowder and was about to motion for a second when she saw Dante already placing two more cups on a tray. She was brought back to the conversation by Konstantine's question and she shook her head, furrowing her brow as she looked at Miyu.
"Not a clue. I know I hate all the really girls ones and all the macho ones on the girls. Her name means 'Superior Beauty' so I was thinking definitely a dress but a short one, that way it wouldn't get in the way. Opinion?"
Kylie looked at Konstantine questioningly. Out of the two of them, Konstantine was definitely more into fashion. Kylie was more into fashion impulse. If she saw something she liked then she bought it, in style or not. It was also nice to have input though on something serious like this.

Dante walked over to the two girls but only set another cup before Kylie, as he knew his sister had never been much of an eater, so instead he ruffled her hair before he walked off. "I really wish he wouldn't do that." Konstantine looked to her brother who was already off waiting on other people, using her palm to flatten the hair he had messed up.
Konstantine shrugged her shoulders at the idea, "yeah sure. I wouldn't go too matchy-matchy with the clothes. You know? Don't go with oranges or anything, it'll be too much with her hair."
Konstantine knew of Kylie's impulse when it came to fashion, and such an impulse resulted in more hits then misses, but she respected the fact that Kylie was willing to risk it for fashion. "I think a dress will fit her, should be interesting to see."

Kylie nodded. "Yeah, I want an angel...not a moving orange." She smiled as she moved on to the second cup of chowder. The bowls were small so she didn't feel bad at all to be having seconds when Konstantine had stopped on one. "Okay, so a dress....I just don't want anything over the top. Like a wedding gown." She cringed slightly and grinned at her friend.
"Any ideas for little Ophelia yet, or were you serious about the football jersey?" Kylie smiled and tried to imagine Konstantine playing with Ophelia dressed that way...and honestly, it wasn't that hard to imagine. She just couldn't see her passing up this fashion chance for a football jersey and hot pants.

"I don't think she'd be able to fight in a wedding dress." Konstantine raised an arched eyebrow, "though it might be fairly interesting to see."
Rolling her eyes as Kylie mentioned the football jersey, Konstantine chewed on her straw. "Of course I wasn't serious. She needs something to go well with her persona. Well, with as much of a persona a doll can have." Tapping her index finger against her lips Konstantine, running over the possibilities.
"I was thinking of making a few modifications on Basch's vest. Having it zip up to just under her bust line. Basically, tailoring his vest to a female form. I'm not sure about bottoms yet though."
Konstantine wasn't sure if she should be expecting something on her admiration for Basch's character, though she prepared herself for some sort of remark. If she could, she'd like a love-child angel of Basch and Vossler, though that was for another time.

It was now Kylie's turn to roll her eyes. "I finally get you away from that game and you want to make an angel based off of it." Finishing off her chowder, she leaned forward a little to inspect Ophelia closer. "The vest might look hot tailored in. It's a dark red, like her highlights, right? Yeah...that would look nice with some big silver buckles. Maybe silver pants? And dark red boots?" Kylie was a stickler for making things match. She hated it when people mixed and matched colors that didn't go together. Most of her outfits were carefully organized to be color coordinated, and chances were that her view of Angels was going to be the same.
"Oh! Maybe a short skirt and knee high red boots! That's Konstantine-ish!"

"Like you can blame me, you've seen Basch." Konstantine's lips formed into a sly grin, "he's gorgeous and you know it." Laughing quietly, she listened to Kylie suggest some choices for bottoms. When she mentioned silver pants she couldn't help but stick out her tongue, as though the thought sickened her.
"Yeah, I was thinking of a skirt and boots." Konstantine stood Ophelia up, imagining where the fabric would drape, how the measurements would apply. "Something along those lines. I'm going to look at the colors on Basch, and then see what I can do with Ophelia."
"Were you thinking boots for Miyu too?"

"You know I'm more of a Goku girl. You can have Basch and all of his love babies." Kylie sipped at her mountain dew and was upset when she finally sucked it dry. Looking around she couldn't see Dante so just rolled her eyes and put the glass back on the table.
"Yeah. I was going to see if they sold any boots that were close to mine. You know the knee-high black ones with the three silver buckles down the side? I thought black would look nice on her and that it would be cool with a short dress. Maybe her dress should have some black in it? Not all though...I'm not going gothic with this beauty." she grinned then laughed a little. "Could you even see me with a gothic angel?!"
