It was simple enough to get away from the others anymore. She was older now, and no one was worried about her being able to take care of herself. Except for her mother, of course, but Selene was a notorious worrywart, and her fears were (99% of the time), groundless, and based in whatever twisted fairytale Scherazade had been whispering in her ear.
Yue was hardly going to rub a magic lamp and get eaten by the demon inside. Really. First off, she didn't have any hands.
She flung herself down on the sand, relaxing, watching the sun sink below the horizon. The skies were pink, and yellow, and orange. And red... she could go on forever. She stretched out, digging herself a little furrow. Today had been peaceful. Relaxing. And now she just wanted to enjoy it until it got dark.

Evening was always a beautiful time of day, but evening at the coast was something lovely in a new way. The setting sun casting it's rays over the sand, over the waves...everything was pink, even his own coat!
Not that he really noticed; one of the banes of a pale coat was that it tended to take on the colors of other things, be it the sunset or the forest leaves. This was a new sensation, or rather a novel one.
And what was so novel about it? Sand. There wasn't that much sand in the forest, and he was enjoying the interesting sensation of walking through the sand, his large hooves sinking in with each step.

Ears swiveled, and Yue lifted her head, peeking around. She thought she'd heard footsteps. Or felt, or... something. That was the glory of being used to a lonely beach. The first thing she noticed... was a sunset pink stallion? She blinked, only once. They lay her head back down on the sand, watching the larger form approach. She couldn't really tell from here, but she thought he had some awful strange wings...

As he walked, Antony had stretched up his wings, extending them to their maximum length and then folding them back to their resting position. One advantage of his sort of wing was that they were simple, easy to care for, and didn't need to be preened like feathers. This was even more the case at the coast, where there was sand to get in everything.
Musing on these things, he could possibly have gone right past Yue without noticing her, had she not lifted her head and consequently attracted his attention by the motion. But having once attained...
"Comfortable down there?"

She blinked. Glanced up. And blinked again. She shot to her feet, stiff-legged and mildly alarmed. S-She'd been spoken to? "I was." her voice was churlish, and slightly sulky at having been disturbed. What if she'd been contemplating the universe, and been on the verge of a breakthrough, and he'd come along, and not just passed on by, and now it was all ruined?
Huh?
HUH?
But... she didn't get it his face about it. Yue was magnanimous like that. Instead, she eyed him, suspicious. He had those funny bat wings, but his teeth weren't very sharp... And he wasn't foaming at the mouth like Khalon was fond of saying Kalona did.

In spite of the somewhat huffy tone of the mare's voice, Antony wasn't really put-out. Hadn't he grown up with huffiness? Besides, he'd never been the sensitive sort, not even when he was a kid, so he simply took it in stride.
Along with her comment. "Well, hopefully the 'was' becomes an 'are.' Don't trouble yourself getting up or uncomfortable on my account, I'm just passing by." He didn't mean for her to become uncomfortable, after all. Or to stand, necessarily.

She raised an eyebrow. "You do realize that 'I are' would be horribly improper speech?" Now she was amused, and she visibly relaxed, leaning against one of the rocks. "And as I'm already up, I do thank you for your concern, but I would like it noted that it came a little late." But if he didn't want her standing, she'd certainly oblige. She leapt up onto the small rock that was her favorite place on the beach to stand, and gazed down at him. Before plopping down onto it in a lazy sprawl that would do anyone at her home teepee proud.

Ah, so she wanted to be the grammar police, eh? He could run with that. Grinning, Antony unfolded his wings, moving them to rest at the back of his head in a more relaxed posture to go along with the mare's visible resting herself. "Indeed, but I had the impression that, should the was become an are, the relevant pronouns would change as well. However, I'll remember from now on that you require an exact translation."
She wanted banter, he could banter. Like his father, he adored random meetings, especially when they could result in amusement for himself. This conversation was already proving to be that.
"Considering I didn't know you were getting up, it came as soon as it could. Would you have announced your intentions prior to standing, I might have been able to speak in time; consequently, the discomfort that you may or may not have suffered as a result of standing are entirely your own." If he did say so himself!

She watched his wings moved, and grinned. The way he moved his wings reminded her a lot of her mom's friend- Safi. She hadn't seen him in an AWFUL long time. Her mom was driving her batty angsting. Those wings were moved like they were what the two-leggers called arms. "Do you require that I announce my actions before I move?" she drawled. "Like in a game? Buffalo up two steps, right step one. Take out the pale-face with the fire whiskey."

One eyebrow went up slightly, the gesture making the pale white eye beneath seem even wider. However, even while he was giving the mare a scrutinizing look, Tony was smiling; and why not, when he had a snese of humor to deal with?
"If your ultimate intent is to spare yourself the discomfort of undertaking certain actions that are, in light of my own beliefs and feelings, unnecessary, then yes, it probably would benefit you in the long run to announce yourself. However, I think that that would get tiresome and tedious both within a short bit of time, to say nothing of the strange looks you'd probably get from others if you continued with that particular habit elsewhere."
With that, Tony broke off, lowering his wings with a chuckle. "That's just my opinion though, naturally."

She laughed, giving the stallion a quick grin. "I suppose my ultimate intent, sir, would be to ensure my slide into the final sleep is quick and painless. Until then, I shan't bother myself with announcing my movements, for that would take all of the fun out of life. Unpredictability would vanish from my life- 'I am going to run now. I am going to sleep now. I am going to snore now.' How boring." She quirked her eyebrow at him, and then grinned again. "I am going to stand now." she leapt back to her feet, and jumped off the rock. "And go get something to drink. It's a bit warm out. Would you care to accompany me?"
