Has anyone read this book? I looked for Stephanie Meyer and Tamore Peirce at the library, and I couldnt find them, so I picked up this instead. It looked good to me. Have you read it before, and was it good?

The cover artwork is absolutely stunning

-heres the back paragraph thingy-

A stunning artifact holds the key to an untapped power of global destruction.
While working on a dig in the California wilderness, archaeologist-adventurer Annja Creed uncovers evidence of a tragedy thats linked to Chinese miners during the days of the Gold Rush. A sudden attack on the site by shadow figures drives Annja to find the connection to a mysterious buried city in China. Lured by legends of gold, betrayal and vengeance of a Han Dynasty overload, Annja travels on the Orient Express, battling avaricious treasure hunters and a modern-day descendant of an ancient league of assassins. Her adversaries will stop at nothing to stake their claim on the fabled lost city, where a Han leaders dark past promises doom for those who dare to reveal its power.

It was, but I found out halfway through the book that its part of a series. Alot of info on the characters is missing because of it, and you dont really find out about 2 characters rivalry until the end. After that, the whole book starts to make alot more sense. And the ending would be better suited for a book. (all action. Imagine an ancient tomb filled with gold, and people fighting with guns and swords while the cieling slowly sinks lower towards them. then everyone dies but like, 4 people, and they touch an ancient artifact and everything goes bright and glowy before they make their escape through a maze slowly filling with sand)
